Asking Bandai Namco to Create Physical Vita Copies of Cyber Sleuth

After the successful Operation Decode we were very pleased to learn that "Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth" for the Playstation Vita was going be released in Europe and North America - sadly as a digital-only release. Considering that most of the original Cyber Sleuth petition supporters were PSVita owners looking forward to play the game, which at the time was exclusively on the PSVita, we find the decision to release the game physically only for an audience that wasn't an active part of the original Operation Decode petition highly disconcerting. As such we'd like to ask if it were possible to create a physical version for it. Whether it be a limited release like Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, or Ar nosurge Plus. Even if it were to come down to a pre-order campaign like with what Ghostlight did with Devil Survivor 2 and Gaijinworks with Summon Night 5; a physical presence of some kind would be very nice and welcome.

That's just a summary of the petition itself. Of course, 100 signatures is not the actual goal. The more the merrier.

Link if you'd like to sign

I'm getting the PS4 version, but I'll sign it because my fellow Vita owners deserve it.

OP (or whoever), you might want to tweet this to Operation Decode. They are the ones who started the original petition and Bamco tweets them all the time.

Signed. Will buy regardless too (thanks 64 gb card) but it's always super nice to have options, and mostly to save space on the memcard with a physical option. I'm glad already that it's coming westward

Are they forgetting that the petition had over 30k supporters for the 3DS game before Cyber Sleuth was even announced?

Considering it only has 65k supports now it means at least half of the people that signed didn't really care about Cyber Sleuth Vita(at the time).

Yeah, you're right. The more exposure, the better.

Not expecting anything from Scamco but I hope someone that has the power to make it happen will consider it. Make me import the game from somewhere at least.
I didn't know about those european pre-order campaigns, that's pretty cool. Publishers should look more into alternative ways to give fans what they want.

I think the point is that ps4 users weren't in the equation. I'm pretty sure 3DS owners didn't ask for a ps4 game either.

True, still seems a bit weird to take that stance when half the people who petitioned didn't get the game they wanted in any form.

Having a physical Vita version would be nice, but I don't think it's fair to say that PS4 users weren't actively trying to get the game localized. Obviously no one had the PS4 in mind when the petition started, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who were asking for the Vita version who either already had a PS4 or, like myself, got one shortly after. It's the same audience, no need to draw lines anywhere.

I'd usually say that there's no point in complaining, but Sony listened to the Gravity Rush petition like two days later, so never give up I guess?

I'll have to sign since this would round out my digimon game collection even more and it'd look great with my japanese copy.

Signed I prefer getting the vita physically, but I fear that the petition is too late to make any impact as the release date is February 2016.

I just hope that they price it low, since it's digital only.

It's foolish to assume that every Vita owner owns a PS4, I own a Vita but I don't own a PS4 nor do I plan to.

I honestly doubt that there are very many people like you, given how each platform is selling. That also doesn't excuse disqualifying PS4 owners from being members of the audience.

Signed. I wanted to play Cyber Sleuth on my Vita, not my PS4. I'll buy the PS4 version when it comes out because it's the only physical option, but I'd be going with Vita in a heartbeat if it were available.

A "few hundred people" and yet an online petition reached 65k signatures. Keep the shitposting out of this thread, thanks.

65k signatures to localize a game, which I was referring to. That petition said nothing about physical copies. This is a pointless petition.

Buying Cyber Sleuth will get us more Digimon games, I don't really see how this takes away from that.

It's just a waste of effort when Next Order is actually something worth petitioning for.

And if they actually do make a physical copy of Cyber Sleuth for Vita and it bombs, that won't look good.

As of this post, 70 people want it physically for Vita.
How many people should have signed in 7 hours for this petition to not be pointless?
And if they actually do make a physical copy of Cyber Sleuth for Vita and it bombs, that won't look good.
If they're worried it could bomb (and it wouldn't) they have many ways to ensure they'll sell every copy they manufacture.

Why would you petition for Next Order? Either Cyber Sleuth does well, and we get, or it doesn't do well, and we don't.

A heck of a lot more.

If they're worried it could bomb (and it wouldn't) they have many ways to ensure they'll sell every copy they manufacture.

And how many of those would be profitable? Limited runs cost more money and extra manpower.

Why would you petition for Next Order? Either Cyber Sleuth does well, and we get, or it doesn't do well, and we don't.

True, but at least it's something actually meaningful. Getting games is more important than the media they come on, despite what some people may think (looking at you, physical or bust Yakuza "fans").

A heck of a lot more.
Yeah, right. I'm sure Digimon petitions get shared by PewDiePies and AngryJoes all over the internet.

And how many of those would be profitable? Limited runs cost more money and extra manpower.
That's not something that a company like Bamco needs to worry about. We have countless examples of miniscule companies doing the same and being profitable.

You said it yourself, 65,000 people signed the petition to bring the game over. And you did just say this game wasn't going to bomb on Vita. You would think there would be a big outpouring of support, especially as we know a 1 signature does not equal 1 sale.

Those companies live or die on those razor thin margins. For bigger companies it can actually be a waste of resources to invest in things with little return, which is something people don't actually get when wondering why the big companies don't do those sorts of things.

Zero, why are you even in this thread other than to shit on this thread and the petition?

Anyways, I signed this. Not expecting anything to come of it, but it sure would be nice if something did.

But it's not meaningful. Unless, for some reason, the petition got an extraordinary number of people to sign, Bamco would just ignore it. Cyber Sleuth will be what they base future releases on for a long time.

Actually yeah, I agree with you. Both this petition and a Next Order petition would be pretty much useless.

As I said, it literally started 7 hours ago. How many people of those (assumed) 65k could have realistically seen this yet? The original petition ran for 2 fucking years.

This is Bamco but the game's not Dark Souls. Every little investment is worth it.

I wouldn't call it useless. There is precedent for Bandai Namco games doing well enough on the Vita to get a physical release. The only problem is that may be too late (as said above, the first petition ran for a long time) and there just isn't enough faith in the Digimon brand yet.

That's... not how business works. If someone says "let's put a hundred hours of manpower into a project that's going to earn a few hundred dollars profit", that would be a terrible investment for a company that size.

Have any of these change.org petitions ever swayed the opinions and practices of video game companies and their products? Or any entertainment medium for that matter?

Honest question.

More than a hundred thousand people bought SAO only in NA on Vita at full price securing a physical release of its sequel in both regions and you're still thinking that a game this hyped and so closely tied to the Vita will bomb horribly.

Yes, for this game.

Speaking as a vita TV owner, I'm just gonna get the physical version for ps4 and stream it to the vita tv if I wanna play it on that.

I'm not the one thinking it. Bandai Namco is the one who thinks that physical isn't worth the effort.
