Kohei Ikeda (Tekken 8 game director) has left Bandai Namco

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

The established fighting games need a shakeup - the more of this, the better, as far as I'm concerned. And I'd like to see the people who have been focused on one franchise for like 15+ years to have a chance to work on something new.

Ordinarily, I'd agree with that, but I feel like Tekken is so far gone at this point that I don't really see the harm. This would be one of those exceptions, for me at least.
I'd like to see a shakeup at Arcsys in this way. Guilty Gear (Strive) is basically a parody of it's original self, they need some new eyes on the series.

But yea Tekken is a little worn out at this point, but I feel like any game with 8 entries would be similarly so.

Wonder if Ikeda will end up with Harada again?

To be honest, I wouldn't have described him as a fighting game mastermind when he took over the reigns of Tekken.

Edit:
That's approx 5 years of experience developing fighting games, and never in a lead design role, then suddenly they make him game director.

*under the table of Bandai Namco corporate office big wigs* "GAWK GAWK GAWK!!!"

I've said stuff like this before, but i used to be a huge fighting game fan, so i can't help myself every time i see news about the series i used to love.

It costs fucking $65 to upgrade base Tekken 8 to get season 1 and 2 in their entirety, and that's with the current discount, otherwise it would be $80.

And you know there will be more.

That's crazy!

It's been too long but I think Tekken 5 DR was $30 at launch. That kind of pricing seemed fair for an upgrade and you got the whole thing. Modern fighting game pricing has lost the plot.

I fucking love Tekken, but fuck their pricing, it makes me not care. I can buy multiple discounted or indie full games for that.
