Nier Automata Steam Page/Pre-Order Live, releasing March 17th

For the new page:

Steam's decryption process isn't outwardly nuanced. The depots you've pre-loaded are updated and then decrypted, but the client doesn't say this, so it goes from, say, 90 minutes to 15 minutes in the space of 5 minutes -- it calculates the decryption time based on your download speed and then corrects itself once it actually starts decrypting.

Is there a PC performance thread? If it performs well, I
think I'm jumping in.

It's ready to go. I'll post it once the game has unlocked at my end (~5mins).

Already bought the game from the JPN PSN because I'm impatient. Looking forward to seeing how the game runs on PC. Will double dip in the future if the port is good.

90% decrypted after 10 minutes. i7-4790k putting work in. Downloading would take me about an hour and a half at full speed.

EDIT: And done. Now to start the game :D

everything from 480p to 8k showing (nvidia DSR is enabled on my PC). I wont be trying to test ultrawide and eyefinity resolutions though. Have this hooked up to my 4k tv. Quick thing I just noticed, is 4096x2160 is even an option

Holy shit! :O

S-E really should inform themselves more on the PC community and what people want. They could use that to move some more pre-orders just by briefly mentioning it in PR statements, but not even that.

So I've started the game up.

Seems to support all the normal resolutions, can't tell if my fps is going over 60fps in the menu.

My ps4 controller doesn't seem to work in the menu so far.

Well the gamesplanet key worked. Im playing the PC version from asia, max settings at 2560x1600, it is pretty damn sharp. Made the PS4 demo looks like a blurry mess. Performance is pretty good vysnc on.

-ve changing 1 graphics setting will blank my monitor for awhile
-ve the cutscenes are very jerky and comes with a weird aspect ratio (since im using 16:10)

shitty port.

mine works but I use DS4Windows (glorious software)

Ok so, super weird, but I plugged in my 360 controller, and the ps4 controller changed from the inactive yellow light to blue, and it seems to be working now, without any third party tools

Can't seem to get Switch pro controller to work with the thing. Is there something I don't understand about Big Picture Mode ;_;

On a GTX 1080 and playing in Window mode and maxing out all the setting and I don't get a choppy frame rate while running around in the overworld, so this is already a large step over the OG PS4 version for me :v

That said, not an expert, but I was getting stuttering and I had to turn VSYNC on, but this is probably something to do with my monitor/TV?

But yeah, overall, seems ok?

EDIT:

Lot of pop-in tho

im on a 1080 and playing 4k 2x AA (appears to be MSAA). Framerate seems solid but im not fully validating it. Im noticing the popin as well though

Though is anyone else having trouble getting Nvidia to latch on. I cant get any geforce experience functions working. So now video recording, screenshots, or FPS counter through geforce experience

The Good:

The game supports downsampling and thankfully plays nice with refresh rates over 60hz in both windowed and fullscreen modes (pick a Dark Souls game from a hat. Only the first 2 play nice thanks to Durante's efforts, DS3+DS3Tool is a toss up nightmare by comparison). I can downsample from 2240x1260@120hz to my new projector's 1280x720@120hz output just fine. Borderless Fullscreen works great. Native PS4 controller support (Weird that the button prompts are all Xbox style though.)

The Neutral:

This game is very demanding for how it looks. Had to back off on the AA at that resolution. At 1080p I can max everything, including 8x AA. Now if only we could have a talk about locking framerates to 60fps (and 30fps during cutscenes)...

The Bad:
The AO in this game is bad. Really noticeable in the Bunker. The texture quality of the majority of things in this game leaves a lot to be desired.

This game doesn't play very nice with downsampling from higher resolutions if your game is set to windowed AND the resolution you are downsampling from is not currently set as your desktop resolution. I've gotten crashing when changing resolutions around and square pixel scaling artifacting in menus and gameplay. Fullscreen works better.

The game stutters, loading/culling stuttering I guess, it's not a constant problem. Rivatuner gives me an output of 60fps,16.6ms and I'll still get it on occasion. I have the game installed on a Samsung 840 EVO (yeah yeah, but all the fixings are installed). Not perfect, but way better than something like Lightning Returns.

Verdict:
Platinum is getting better, but they are still not quite there. At this point, I'd put them over From Software - you have no idea how relieved I am that this game is willing to cooperate with 60hz+ refresh rates.

It only really got on my nerves in the rotating disk part of the Bunker, it works better elsewhere. Do it if your performance is affected.

Would definitely try to inject another AO solution if somebody found a better option (I personally won't bother with the work, I'm just glad the whole package is stable out of the box for me).

Runs kinda poopy on my machine after all. :(

After adjusting to lower settings it seems high framerate with low smoothness, so more of a CPU thing rather than my R9 270X, as expected (on a Phenom II X4 955BE).

Having played more, I'm satisfied with the frame rate: I usually got slowdown when fighting mobs and then charging the pod on PS4 (you'd almost think that charging the pod gave you bullet time based on the slowdown), but that's pretty much gone on my machine.

That said, aside from pop in, there's this weird flashing on screen here and there that looks like electrical sparks going off. I get it in areas with water and I assume it's a glitch.
