Ni no Kuni II spotted in Amazon.es for the Xbox One.

Well yeah it wasn't as big then. Barely passed 250K then. And look at them now. They've literally fucking exploded. I'm pretty sure China is going to buy a metric fuckload of Xbox juat for PUBG. It makes sense that they would.

I could see Japan doing the same thing.

Nah, China is gonna stay playing on PC. Because that's where PUBG and DOTA and the other games they whale on are.

Didn't Spencer mention something about getting more Japanese titles?

Probably this is one of the fruits?
Theyve been saying that since launch of the Xbox One, so if that's the only reason we're thinking it may be real, probably shouldn't.

While it could be real, it seems more likely a mistake. That's a super niche game.

It just sucks that if it wasn't for the deal with Sony (which yes, we have no proof of) we may have had it releasing for Xbox One as well. We all assumed it was just Level 5 not wanting to make it for Xbox because of a grudge but chanced are that's not even the case.

If it's true about that deal I wonder what kind of deal it is and especially why. It's not like it would sell like hotcakes on Xbox anyway.

So you say there’s no proof of a deal, yet decide there is one while ignorong the fact that there’s generations worth of sales data that point to the fact that releasing on the Xbox isn’t worth it financially. Like, why would they pay Level 5 to not release Ni No Kuni 2 on the Xbox while not doing the same thing for Kingdom Hearts 3 or FF15

I guess I could have worded that differently. But what it comes down to is that the Reddit poster said a Bamco guy told him about a deal. If that's true, that sucks. But nope, it hasn't been confirmed.

Like the game or not my point is Xbox one is not getting the games that used to be on 360, like how NieR Gestalt was 360 but it didn't get NieR Automata.

If we end up getting follow up to Catherine, do you really think it going be on Xbox One?

Yup yup. I didn't think it would fall off a cliff, especially when so many devs were saying multiplatform, multiplatform, multiplatform. 360 had a good library of Japanese games. XB1 is skeleton half buried in the desert.

Probably? Unlike NieR Catherine is BC and usually on sale. It's easier to play and follow up on xbox than PS4, even, unless they remaster it

there are tons of other examples you could have used and probably be right about it (like arcsys fighters), but Catherine is not one of them

It not being published by Sony makes me think it might be possible, but Is this the Amazon that listed Bloodborne, Killzone Shadowfall and a bunch of other games for platforms they never came to?

El caso es que hemos preguntado a varios contactos dentro de la propia distribuidora, y nos han confirmado en exclusiva que el juego de Level 5 verá la luz en Xbox One

We ask "contacts" in the publisher and they've confirmed us exclusively that it is coming to Xbox.
I don't know the track record of this site, but it doesn't sound too trustful.

Yeah, some spanish site/blog called generation xbox in desperation of clicks, really smells fishy.
But we'll see in the future 😀

Yeah I'd wait for more sites to confirm it before getting excited.

Find it hard to believe they're the only ones who have contacts at Namco who could confirm it.

" No obstante, hay una pequeña posibilidad de que Reino Unido si que reciba esta versión. De hecho, el juego ya está siendo listado no solo en Amazon, si no en más tiendas digitales fuera de nuestro país.

Una de las razones que apoyan esta confirmación es que el enlace de Ni no Kuni 2 para Xbox One en Amazon España de la que nos hacíamos eco hace unos días, contaba con un “producto de importación” en la ficha."

They say that there's a small chance that the UK will get a physical version, and that's the reason that amazon.es had the listing of the xbox copy under "import product".

They also say that there's been many many leaks, and that besides amazon.es some other outlets have listed the game outside of spain.

And that after the announcement of Bandai Namco it was obvious that NNK2 would come to Xbox.

To me sounds credible enough, but they name "several contacts" inside the Spanish publisher, so I guess the publisher could get into trouble? No idea if the publisher in spain is MS or someone else

If it were credible, more sites would be reporting it.

Digital only make a lot of sense and make the story more real.
Maybe VP Spencer talk with Japanese publishers and let them publish on Xbox live without minimum print limitation. It's a good way to fix Japanese third party support problem.

Looks like it will be out on xbox in digital form.

Doesn't look very trustworthy to me if they don't even get the basic facts right:
  • Xbox One preorders for Ni No Kuni 2 went up at several stores and not just Amazon.es? -> No, they didn't, at least I cannot find any evidence of that on retail/distributors' sites. This is also contradictory to their claim that the game would only receive a retail launch in the UK.
  • Only the UK may receive a retail version and Amazon.es also said on its page that it would be an import product? -> Where exactly is that information? The Amazon.es page didn't have any such description, nor was there a page for that product on any other Amazon page. If it was for the UK version, Amazon UK also would have had a product page for it.

Amazon.es removed the page entirely now. They probably only noticed their error due to the recent attention.

Not saying this confirms anything as it looks like information we already know, so I'd wait for an official announcement before getting too excited. But IGN Spain picked up the story for what it's worth. Seems like they may have put in for an official comment from the publisher, if I understand correctly. This might add a little credibility to this rumor. At the very least, maybe they'll receive confirmation, "yes, no, or not at this time".

Full article translated to English:

"It seems that the alleged leak of Ni No Kuni II: The Rebirth of a Kingdom as part of the catalog for Xbox One was very accurate. The media specialist Xbox Generation points out that several sources of Bandai Namco claim that this JRPG will release for the Microsoft console. However, it will only be in digital format.

This version, with no official release date, does not appear to have a physical edition except in the United Kingdom, pending the distributor to comment on it.

The Level 5 game is a beautiful JRPG with the aesthetic of Studio Ghibli, who actively collaborated in the first game, for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 3. However, the studio does not appear in the credits of the second installment due to the closure of its production department and the change in its business model.

Ni No Kuni II will be released in January 2018 , being one of the most anticipated titles, and a very good way to start the year. Let's hope that Xbox users do not have to wait too long to enjoy it."

It seems they are pointing at the article that was posted before and not adding anything new to it. So we are still at how credible is Xbox generation?

Damn, each time this is on page 1 I get hopeful there's a nice update.

Would have been a huge thing to announce either at E3 or Gamescom and it didn't happen at all. At this point I'm just not believing it anymore. I mean Phil has visited Japan several times in his life and not terribly much resulted from it. It is what it is.

Why in the living hell would Ni no Kuni 2 of all the bigger Published JRPGs only arrive digitally on the Xbox One if it were to be released? That doesn't add up.

Sony doesn't need any deals to keep niche Japanese games of the Xbox. That's just nonsense. They have sold like 50k Xbox's in Japan this generation.

A valid model to save cost for producing disks for an audience that is not known for buying much JRPGs. Less risk taking for actually offer the game on the platform too.
