Miiverse on 3DS is horrible. Is very slow and you can hardly navigate it. Plus there are no communities for lots of games
Baby step, remember the Wii U Miiverse was the same when it first launched.

Well on the Wii U side, what makes Miiverse so great is how it connects directly into your games. For instance, people post their thoughts on a particular part of a level in a game, and that person's thoughts can reach you before you hit that spot....warning you of dangers or traps ahead. ZombiU does this really well.
I mean look at this.
It's just a great place where owners of the same game can interact with each other.
Have you used Miiverse?
Yep. 3D World Miiverse integration makes me feel like I'm experiencing each new level with hundreds of other people after beating a level.Well on the Wii U side, what makes Miiverse so great is how it connects directly into your games. Maybe it's cause it's meant for kids, and not 30 year old me.
I've only had a Wii U for a few days and not used Miiverse extensively yet but I love its integration into Super Mario 3D World; seeing random posts from other people strewn about the overworld and when finishing levels is neat.
You're trolling, right? No, not at all. Was that a prerequisite to complaining?
All I know is, I still have my friend code, which a separate list of friends. I can't bring those postpone over easily, and I know most of them have signed up. Beyond that, I kinda don't get why I would want to join in the discussions.
I guess I thought Miiverse would be an interesting mix of Facebook / The xbox love friends list. Instead it's Twitter, but not as fun and R-rated as Twitter.

Can non-game communities even be created?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueZ6tvqhk8UIt's okay, just like some people don't get Facebook/Twitter/etc. don't force yourself.

I really want to join in on the hype. I don't DISLIKE it, I simply don't get it. It's not quite a message board like GAF. It's not really even a chat lobby. Near as I can tell, it's basically a place to trade pictures?
IF it was a mini Nintendo-focused GAF, I'd be all in. Trade gameplay vids and screen shots, etc...
But i'm really trying to wrap my head around why this is cool.
Oh!!! Okay.I guess I thought Miiverse would be an interesting mix of Facebook / The xbox love friends list. Instead it's Twitter, but not as fun and R-rated as Twitter.

You're trolling, right?
No, people cannot make their own communities.
No, it is not for children.
It is a resource used to communicate with other players, share accomplishments (with screenshots rather than a generic score), ask for help etc.
Thinking about it more like twitter and less like a forum actually helps me "get" it more. Thanks, GAF!
Maybe I'll give 'er another chance.
Yeah, I don't get this. Sorry.
I don't think the 3DS or any 3DS game utilize Miiverse appropriately. The Wii U does a much better job at it but I'd give it some time.
Yeah, I don't get this. Sorry.
(and not trolling. really just trying to wrap my head around the whole thing)
So I just made my first Miiverse post. It was about how Game Freak's lack of Miltank love makes me sad, and she needs a Megastone.
I just got a yeah.
I love Miiverse.
Another huge positive about Miiverse is how indie developers are using it to directly communicate and talk with their fans about their games. Top Nintendo devs like Aonuma, Eguchi, and Sakurai also use it to directly communicate to fans with updates of their games. That is very cool and very awesome.
Yeah, I don't get this. Sorry.

I am sure there is some psychiatric research paper in there somewhere.
Is there a way to turn it off? Especially in Mario, I don't want the location of a hidden star scrolling across the top of the screen. Not that it is all bad, just not my thing. The little dudes running around when I replay a level is annoying as hell also.
It's not that hard to understand, dude.
Post about the games you're playing. Ask questions if you're stuck or brag about doing something cool. Add a screenshot to your post if you like. View the game boards and reply to other people's posts. Go to the activity feed to look at your friends' posts. "Yeah" (like) cool artwork.
I imagine that any future 3DS titles will feature Miiverse integration. Maybe some older ones get patched to include it on a minimal scale.
Maybe it's cause it's meant for kids, and not 30 year old me.
It's like Steam's Game Hubs but you can't link or embed porn.
Why doesn't this overlay stuff in games. Why is this... ugh, and I hate to say this... so Nintendo?
why? the games on 3DS are better, and there are more of them.
No, not at all. Was that a prerequisite to complaining?

Yeah it just hit me that you were referring to the 3DS Miiverse. Its newer so Its not as well integrated as the Wii U version. Going forward with the bigger titles, it some of your complaints should be addressed like it not being overlayed within games. As for the chat, Nintendo attracts an all ages audience so I can understand your frustration with it not being as open as Twitter, but that's what Twitter is for. Miiverse is just a handy quick communication tool, it is what you make of it. Some people draw, some people have general chats, some people use it like Gamefaqs, some people share high scores and achievements, some take over entire miiverse pages and dedicate them to Willem Dafoe and some people use it to organize online matches. No, not at all. Was that a prerequisite to complaining?

But it is exactly that. Save for the video part, obviously.
You play a game, get stuck/want to know something -> hop onto Miiverse, post question/etc and attach a screenshot of the scene in the game related to your issue if necessary (or just 'cause). You hop back into the game, fumble around/do other stuff, hop back into Miiverse, check for answers. Among those answers there might be a drawing of shit you need to do to solve your problem, a screenshot showing you what to do/where to go or just a helpful explanation.
You play a game, see something awesome/funny/stupid. To take a screenshot, you post it. Check back to see if people agree or not, find funny responses, silly drawings, rants.
You want to bitch about a VC game being 50Hz? Go to Miiverse, bitch right into their faces.
You want to interact with the developers of games? Go to Miiverse, read what they have to say or post something and have the devs respond.
You want achievements? Play a game that uses Miiverse as an achievement system (recent examples: Deus Ex HR Director's Cut, Batman Arkham Origins)
You want to check out what others think of a game you don't have? Check the Miiverse community.
You want to hear from people about a game who HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE DAMN THING? Hop onto Miiverse where there's a checkmark next to your name if you played the game in question. If only GAF and the internet at large had something this awesome...
You want in-game community features? Enable Miiverse features in supported games like Wind Waker HD which pulls Miiverse posts and randomly spawns them in the ocean as messages in a bottle. They might have rare pictures for your pictograph gallery that you can use even. Other games use Miiverse in a variety of ways, mostly related to sharing messages.
You want to see what your buddies are up to? Check Miiverse, see what they've been posting. Someone posted something cool? Give a YEAH. Someone has a problem/question? Help out with a comment.
You can draw? Draw something! Have people praise the crap out of your ass. Be creative.
Miiverse is GAF/Twitter/Facebook all rolled into one if you spend more than three seconds looking at it.
It's just a neat "meta layer" to the normal gameplay experience. It connects you to a community where you can see people reacting to things you experienced in-game, or seeking assistance, or sharing achievements. They also have the option to illustrate their posts with drawings or screenshots. Knowing that this whole community is bustling right behind the game makes the game itself feel more "alive."
