Interesting, because it is normally the other way round.
We Europeans didn't get Earthbound,Chrono Trigger,Ogre Battle 64,I think even Final Fantasy VI wasn't released here until many years later through Virtual Console and Remakes.
Interesting at least to see it turned around.

So what does this say? What is their source?

Relevant paragraph:

English:
For the Wii's dying breaths, Nintendo Europe wants to spoil us at all costs. Proof? The 7 big titles presented at E3, add to those Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower (yes, it has been confirmed for Europe with a big smile) and [you'll understand what we mean]

Their source is Livewii.fr--the main story both on the linked blog and Livewii.fr is about a collector's edition for Xenoblade Chronicles in Europe--who don't mention anything about Pandora's Tower and who are sourcing Go Nintendo... who are in turn sourcing GAF.

So, uh... it's not clear to me where the blog is getting it from. LiveWii also claims, incorrectly, that Xenoblade is the second Monolithsoft game not being released over here; Disaster is one, sure, but they're also excluding Soma Bringer and Super Robot OG Saga 2, and those are just releases that haven't made it over here since Nintendo bought MonolithSoft.

More in particular:
Et The Last Story alors ? "Nous sommes sur le continent américain, je ne peux pas parler de The Last Story. [...] On espère qu'il va sortir. On a juste le droit de dire espérer... c'est plein de promesses espérer... Comme pour Pandora's Tower.", dit-il avec un énorme sourire.

Weird that they linked the wrong story in the blog post.

So the actual statement, then:
Matthew Minel, Director of Marketing, Nintendo France;

Q: So is the Last Story coming out?
A: We're in the US, so we can't speak about The Last Story... We hope it'll be released. We are only allowed to say "hope"... Hope is promising... just like with Pandora's Tower", he said with an enormous smile.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Well that's not exactly confirmed just yet, but, yeah, let's hope so, for both of them, especially TLS though.

If The Last Story, Xenoblade, and Pandora's Tower all get released in Europe we just need Captain Rainbow and Zangeki no Reginleiv to be fan-translated and we're all set! That's not too much to ask, right?

EDIT: And Card Hero for the DS, that's it!

That's it for Nintendo published titles, anyway, add in 7th Dragon and then I'm all set.

My theory is that the people who make the decisions these days in NoE are the very people who felt slighted that all those games didn't make it here back then, and they're going the extra mile to try to make sure it doesn't keep happening.

It almost makes me forgive them Excitebots.

I guess you gave up on Takt of Magic, Kensax, Soma Bringer, Friend Collection, Kuriken Nano Island Story, Tingle DS 2, Chibi Robo DS 2, and Project Hacker ;)

What about Soma Bringer? Chibi-Robo 3? Fire Emblem DS2? Tingle 2? Tact of Magic? There's still plenty of Nintendo content languishing in Japan.

What about Jet Impulse? :)

Even I've given up on that one and ASH, both of which were marketed (I have the press media releases myself), translated, tested (confirmation from an NOA product tester), and in ASH's case ESRB'd.... and then never released domestically :p

I thought that The Last Story in EU already was confirmed. Am I wrong?

Aeana and I were having a little spat about this a few weeks ago. There's been a variety of small Euro blogs who have claimed that anonymous Nintendo reps have "confirmed" the Last Story for Europe to them. There's been a variety of french outlets who have claimed that Sakaguchi "confirmed" the Last Story for Europe to them. They registered the domain name.

However. none of the confirmations ever have exact quotes, and I suspect the actual confirmations were coy like the one I posted above. So I would call it likely, but not confirmed. She felt it counted as confirmation.

I would be happy to provide exact translations of any French articles posted on any websites to investigate it further or clear up any ambiguities.

There's no official confirmation.

Shit. Well, there are good possibilities anyway.

I think it probably will come out, it's just that with Nintendo you never know until you get a release date. Plenty of games have been 'confirmed' only to go AWOL for years like Jam with the Band or Tingle, or be canceled altogether like ASH.

They finished that project? Neat.
Well, it's officially completed to 97,93%, but you won't see more than one or two Japanese sentences in the game (and I'm not underplaying it: when I played it I've seen exactly one Japanese sentence). One has to be a real nitpicker to pass on it because of that. :p

It's also a really solid effort. Who is still interested in the game, should give it a go. The Japanese version is rather cheap to boot. The gameplay is rather mediocre, though, but it has a nice story and a rich world.

NoE doesn't want to place too much publicity on The Last Story as they fear that Xenoblade Chronicles could be forgotten.

I'll believe this when it's officially announced by NoE. Putting any kind of trust in a news from either Nintendo-Master or LiveWii would be like taking for granted something from a website like Sponge without the e or The-Magicbox.

And, more on topic : has anyone on GAF actually played Pandora's Tower ? Seems like JGAF didn't even bother with it.

Wow, Pandora's Tower comes to Europe! Unexpected but brilliant news!

That means (PAL) Wii's last year potentially looks like this:

  • Dragon Quest 10
  • Fortune Street
  • Go Vacation!
  • Kirby
  • Last Story, The
  • Legend of Zelda, The: Skyward Sword
  • Mario Party 9
  • Pandora's Tower
  • Rhythm Heaven
  • Xenoblade Chronicles

I believe Fortune Street is the only one that has yet to be specifically confirmed for PAL regions.

PS. NoE, please add Takt of Magic, Captain Rainbow, Excitebots and Zangeki no Regenliev! Thanks for the effort! (Love you long time!)

I don't think Rhythm Heaven has been confirmed for Europe.

I never thought, in my lifetime, I would say hate and Nintendo so close together..

But I violently despise Nintendo of America right now.

Motion seconded. What the actual fuck is going on over there in regards to localizing this stuff? Even looking at it with eyes beyond that of a frustrated gamer it makes no sense, why wouldn't you localize this stuff to keep a steady stream of titles and interest for the Wii, especially now as it's getting ready to take a step down from being the main Nintendo console? They're leaving money on the table and giving me more reasons to be extremely salty about how Wii software gets handled here in the US.

If it's localized for Europe, why can't they just release in America, where the laungage is the same?

I honestly don't mind, NoA, if everyone speaks in a British accent and adds "u"s to their words. Just please release the games over here. :\

All of this weird teasing in Europe is terrible.

The weird NOE and NOA release schedule for this year is quite frustrating. I'm avoiding getting excited until I see a NOE issued release date. Same goes for all of the other so-called European games.

I am not sure how well it sold. According to Wikipedia it sold 21,445 its release week

So has this actually been confirmed to have Metroidvania gameplay? Or, at the very least, not totally linear level design?

We should all email Reggie demanding Xenoblade/Pandora's Tower/Last Story/Every other Wii game NOE localized but not NOA. At least we're getting Rhythm Heaven and Kirby Wii 2.
