---------------------
Sketchcross is a Nonogram logic picture puzzle game. Like Sudoku and Crosswords the player is given clues and must use those to fill in the grid.
In Sketchcross the puzzles form a picture, which can aid in the player’s quest to solve the puzzle. The numbers on the rows/columns are groups,
the value of those numbers is the amount of connecting blocks in that group. Each group must be separated by at least one blank space.

Sketchcross launches with 50 puzzles featuring a variety of subjects and sizes. Small puzzles are 5 by 5 while the largest puzzles are 30 by 30.

The game offers 3 difficulty settings allowing for casual play as well as beat the clock play.
Difficulty also dictates the use of the Check Button which you can use to find any errors or get hints.

Sketchcross also has Frenzy mode which is a randomly generated mode. Frenzy mode gives the player just 30 seconds to finish a 5 by 5 puzzle.
PSN leaderboards are integrated into Sketchcross allowing for players to view their best time against the world and their friends.

Downloaded last night, and hated the fact that there doesn't seem to be a way to just hold down the button and use the arrows to mark long sections. If I know that a row has 5 boxes needed to fill in, I'm going to need to tap the button 5 times to fill them in.

It's a real gamebreaker to me. Unless it's in the options (which I couldn't find), or patched in, I don't think i'll be able to play any more of this game, or recommend it to anyone.

try tweeting your thoughts/feedback to the dev - they may be able to fix it with an update or something

I just found it odd to completely ignore picross I guess.

The OP says it's a nonogram game. If it was Picross the OP would say it's a nonogram game as well.
Picross isn't the official name of this type of puzzle, it's Nintendo's trademark.

Will probably buy it when it releases in Europe.

Ah, that doesn't sound good.

That's going to bother me too. I'll tweet at them I guess.

I understand why the dev and Sony would not want to use the word Picross at all, but it seems weird for gaf to get precious about it.

That said I am always up for some nonogram, and learning new terms, so instant buy for me.

Hopefully they've given the puzzles a quick once-over to check they're valid after the mistake spotted in the announcement thread!

Also from the announcement thread, I did express this interest:

Curious, here. I'm a bit fan of Picross, but a little curious about how the interface works out. It works on the DS in part because the entire puzzle can be onscreen in one go yet still be interacted with using the stylus with sufficient precision. I'm not sure the Vita's capacitive screen is necessarily suited for that, and I think I'd be more inclined to use straight D-pad controls instead - but I'm very used to direct stylus controls, these days, and losing them would be significant.

I might be doing it a bit of a disservice, to be fair; I'll be interested to hear how the control actually feels.

There's the "drawing a line" factor; any other interesting feedback?

Edit: Stinky Badger did post themselves in that thread, too. So I guess they at least saw the issue!

Edit2: Oh, whoops. Stinky Badger made Picbox, a PS Mobile game also mentioned in that Sketchcross thread. It's Spiky Fish who made this. I think it's not unreasonably for me to confuse the two!

I will probably buy it because I'm a fan of the genre and I need some on my Vita but I'm not optimist: very little content, visibly brings nothing new to the table, some weird game design choices, ... Do we have a release date for Europe?

Edit: saw on their twitter, they are looking into a June/July release in EU territories.

Overall I am enjoying the game about 17 puzzles in. It is no frills, so there is really nothing outside of the puzzle itself and a timer. I am getting into some puzzles around book 4/5 that seem pretty difficult in the sense that they may be 15X15 or more but all of the numbers are really low, like 1 - 1, 3, 1 - 2, etc. Makes it seem impossible to make any kind of logical inference, but maybe there is more to it that I am missing.

A conservative estimate suggests that there are now 749 Picross videogames. Is there any reason to care about this one in particular?

Only one on Vita I believe, a platform sorely missing them.
I've certainly played more than 15 versions, I'm curious what the trophies are about.

hmm I was under the impression they would be adding more puzzles along the way
20 in June and an unannounced number of puzzles in the coming months. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/04/22/sketchcross-coming-to-ps-vita-on-april-28th/

The trophies are pretty straightforward. Basically you will have them all if you complete 100 frenzy puzzles (30 second 5X5 puzzles) and beat all of the puzzles on the timed mode.

I've never owned a 3DS but am fairly sure those picross games are way more polished. This game seems fine if you want to earn some easy trophies and burn through the puzzles quickly. Might be worth waiting until it is half price.
