Updates.
Patch 1.2: 07/05/2015
New Content:
* Unlocked the Lykan Hypersport and Livery Pack #1.
Bug Fixes:
* PC - Online - "Vote to Start" indicator not visible for host.

Patch 1.3: 13/05/2015
Track Fixes:
* Zolder: Fixed cars garaged in 2 closed garages. (This fixes where you could get stuck in a garage during FP and Quali).
Controllers:
* Changed XB1 pad rumble to only update during the per frame tick and not at 600hz (Should make steering more responsive on the PC with the XB1 controller).
* Use absolute acceleration values for blending and updating steering movement to prevent negative direction (Moving the XB1 pad far left to far right, sometimes the steering got stuck, this should stop that happening).
Online:
* Removes the need to access the game setup details (Fixes occasional crash when advancing from Quali to Race).
* Crash in ProximityDetectorUserDataCreateCallback (Fixes occasional crash when returning from a race to the main menus).
* Disable driver swap for TT and MP.

Hopefully its OK to make this new thread (just threw it together), the last one wasn't exactly a proper PC performance thread - if it isn't please feel free to delete it.

The game looks and runs great for me, but rain and a full grid seems to be a performance killer, even on the best hardware.

Also thanks for making this thread.

I mentioned it in the earlier thread, but Environment Maps, Reflection Quality and Grass Quality are some of the most performance heavy settings and if you plan on having them at Ultra you should probably be looking at GTX 980 or Titan. Also, AMD is still working on the drivers issues.

As for me, currently I'm using Medium/High settings on a 280X/i920 to get around 60fps, but it's not totally stable as I'm not too picky on framerate.

lol @ the memory specs of the GTX 970. Great card plagued by stupid marketing.

Anyway, game runs great with mine GTX 970. Running at 2560x1440, High AA and most of the options at High or Ultra. Enabling adaptative v-sync and disabling the in-game one did wonders for my FPS.

I find for a decent visual/performance ratio modified PS4 (more AF x16 instead of x4) settings works well, doing the settings below gives me decent enough FPS so i get good visuals and reasonable performance (I'm an AMD user).

TextureFilter value= x16
TextureResolution value= High
CarDetail value= High
TrackDetail value= High
ShadowDetail value= Medium
MotionBlurLevel value= High (set this to what you prefer).
EmapDetailLevel value= Medium
ReflectionEmapDetailLevel value= Medium
AntialiasingSetting value= OFF
AntialiasingMode value= Irrelevant since it's off
FXAASetting value= High
SMAASetting value= OFF
MaxFrameLatency value= 2
DetailedGrassEnabled value= Low (this setting is an FPS killer for me)
LensFlareEnabled value= ON
BloomEnabled value= ON
HeatHazeEnabled value= OFF
ExteriorLensFlareSetting value= Full
InteriorLensFlareSetting value= Full
GlobalSpecularIrradianceEnabled value= ON
RainDropsSetting value= YES
ScreenDirtSetting value= YES
CrepuscularRaysSetting value= YES
PostProcessingFilters value= ON
StreachedHeadlightsSetting value= OFF
VignetteSetting value= NO
ParticleLevel value= LOW
ParticleDensity value= Medium
You can gin a bit more performance by changing car detail to medium and it really doesn't affect the visuals to much, but all in all with my 280x the above works well so far in my GT career (until the drivers/patch fixes performance).

Nvidia users should set their grass detail from ultra to high if you're on ultra and want a nice FPS boost.

Per Rofas on the WMD forum:

GTX 970 350.12
Prerender frames: 1
Hockenheim GP

Build 939
Off= 94 fps http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/qhligwzf.jpg
Low= 90 fps http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/fgalc5m3.jpg
Medium= 86 fps http://fs1.directupload.net/images/150418/pskqxacb.jpg
High= 82 fps http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/d2qaffsm.jpg
Ultra= 79 fps http://fs1.directupload.net/images/150418/a2vse4pq.jpg

Final Gold Build

Medium= 86 fps http://fs1.directupload.net/images/150418/egpncd4t.jpg
High= 84 fps http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/v4r78rzk.jpg
High Prerender frames 2= 77 fps (+ stuttering) http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/9z89dk9c.jpg
Ultra= 66 fps http://fs2.directupload.net/images/150418/ftz5zmcz.jpg

With prerender frames 1 up to High grass seems ok because performance is basically identical to B939 without this bug, only Ultra grass is effected from the bug. The bad thing is that they selected prerender 2 as default in pcars, so High is also affected in the final build if the player doesn't change it to prerender 1. (Maybe lower grass settings as well, haven't tested)

I tested this myself and can confirm a solid 5~10 fps boost with heavy traffic/cars on the screen (which was the only time the frame rate dropped out of 60)

Also after testing various combinations of AA and downsampling to see what could give the cleanest lines vs best performance, it seems like running native @ 1080p with Nvidia MFAA and DS2x AA in game yields the best looking image and best frame rates.

bumping up to 1440p and lowering DS2x to "High" came close in terms of IQ but frame rate was a little lower.

GTX 970
I7 4770K @ 3.5ghz (Yes, I know)
8gb of RAM @ 1600mhz

Reflections toned down to high, everything else at ultra including SMAA.
60fps with very few drops in rainy conditions.

Very happy with the performance, but ultra reflections are too much for my system when it rains. Fine in clear weather.

Looks magnificent by the way.

I turned all AA SOLUTIONS off in game and forced them with NVIDIA and the game looks and runs so much better. Why didn't I do this before. 1440p, no cars other than my own, at Bathurst with a 980m and getting 80-90fps. Almost everything set to ultra, sans grass, and I captured video using Action! without the frame rate ever dipping below 60. I need to try to get footage uploaded but for some reason AVI files from Action aren't recognized by YouTube. I wonder if it's because of it being a trial and not the full version.

The one thing that irks me is that reducing the resolution down to 1080 doesn't give a significant performance boost. It's almost like I get the same average frame rate. This game still needs work done to it.

How? Running at ultra with tons cars on the track is really heavy especially with weather. My overclocked 980+4790k drop to their knees at that.

Any idea if I could run this at 60fps at 1920x1200?

2500k @ 4.3ghz
6950 flashed to 6970 specs

I'm guessing a combination of low and medium would work?

Right now, I'd say not really much of a chance - even at full low settings.

The game is not working correctly on AMD cards right now and it has major performance issues for us, a driver is meant to come some time this week to hopefully fix the performance and until then we can't really say for certain if an AMD card can maintain 60fps regardless of settings (its even hard for R9 290x cards).

I would actually be surprised if a 6950/6970 owner posted that they were able to maintain 60fps at 1920x1200.

It'd be really helpful if someone can tell PS4 equivalent settings in OG pCARS for the following visual settings:

Reflection
Track Detail
Enhanced Mirror
Motion Blur
Particle Level

I know most other settings like for e.g. AF is equivalent to 4x, AA is EQAA and Shadow quality is between high-med, Environmental Map is equivalent to PC's Low setting etc. It's just the aforementioned settings I'm not sure of. I read DF's article but it's still unclear.

Thanks.
