EA Investing In New Projects, Not Remasters Like Mass Effect - GameInformer

Talk of a Mass Effect remastered trilogy had been rumored, but another E3 keynote has gone by without that announcement. While Söderlund didn't rule it out (he declined to comment), fans might want to start making peace with the idea it might not happen.

"I won't lie and say we haven't looked at it," Söderlund told us. "But for us, it's about weighing where we spend our resources. Is it better for them to be working on a completely new IP, which you know BioWare is, or should they be remastering a Mass Effect?"

Mass Effect trilogy has been one of my most wanted games on next-gen. Hoping they change their tune.

I'd rather them focus on new IPs too. I hope they consider doing a package at least, with all the DLC included. Would even be fine with digital only.

Strange that they can't do the same approach as most other publishers doing remasters, and farm them out to other studios while Bioware focuses on making new games.

Mass Effect Trilogy is one of the few remasters I'd actually like to see happen.

Still no official controller support and the DLC is fucking expensive

True about the DLC, it costs at least three times more to get all the DLC compared to the games (that are on sale often)

Contollers are supported via awesome mods. Just as good as it was on consoles.

Really fail to see the benefit of a remastered Mass Effect. How would it be different from the PC versions anyway?
People who don't own a PC or people who recently got into gaming in the last couple of years (newer generation of gamers) it's a good way for them to get their hands on the game for cheap (considering it would be 1-3 + DLC) and potentially running at 1080/60.

If you have a PC of course none of these HD remakes appeal to you but like the old phrase "the world doesn't revolve around you" comes into full effect here. HD remakes are for people who don't have X or Y and for people who want to play a better version of the game. Hell, i own a PC and want a ME collection because the way the DLC is on PC between Steam and Origin is a goddamn fucking nightmare especially if you started playing them on Steam first.

oooh so ME1 is ready now? Last I checked he was still working on it.

Now that backwards compatibility is announced for Xbox One then this becomes more of a non-issue for me since all the Xbox One features will still work with the backwards compatibility. Although it would still be nice to get a remastered edition.

That's a shame. I would love to play Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered with all the DLC included on PS4. I'd probably be willing to pay a bit higher than the usual $60, provided all DLC is included.

Proper controller support, for one. Not dealing with Origin.
This.

At least get a small 5 man team to patch in controller support if you're not gonna remaster it.

Also. Bioware doesn't have to be the ones to remaster it, outsource it to bluepoint or something.

Boom.

And not only that, remasteres don't have to be just 1080p 60fps. They could tweak other things as well.

Plus all the included DLC.

Also, not everyone has a PC to game on. I do have a monster PC but I would still like to see a remaster of the ME trilogy.

They could probably outsource development of the remasters to other studios, but more than likely they looked at the sales of other remasters and decided it's not worth the cost.

Then get serious about the digital future of ME2 and ME3 on the Xbox Store for Xbox One backwards compatibility with Xbox 360.

Make those two sequels available for digital download.
And - via update - let players with the 360 discs simply install the second disc on their hard drives so as to not require a disc swap.

Mass Effect 1 especially would really benefit from a remaster over the 360 version. That game was maybe the definitive example of UE3 texture pop-in.
