People who were once human—

The battle against the monster leader, known as the Ruler of the Night, ended in human victory. However, the polluted blood from his fall scattered and left behind a root of evil. Those that bathe in its blue blood change form and become beings known as Jayou—creatures that take away the night from the people.

Since then, the people of this land go about their doings while the light shines, as the Jayou come out when darkness falls. A land that never sleeps, it’s become known as the “Land Without Night.” Bathed in blue blood, a girl cursed with the abilities of a “Bloodsucker” lives for those of the Land Without Night, and fights alone as the night’s sacrifice.

This Land Without Night does not exist on maps. This is the story of two girls’ love scattered in history. A story of life and battle not told by anyone thereafter. A story based on this true love, both sadder than anything else and more beautiful than the moon—.

The saint who carries the burden of devoting her life to seal the Ruler of the Night. And the holy knight protecting the saint from Jayou and delivering her to the Ruler of the Night.

Arnas is newly dispatched to Rusewall Island, where she is reunited with her close friend Lyuritis. It’s their first meeting since leaving boarding school, so the two girls do not hide their happiness.

But their encounter was no coincidence.

A holy knight and a saint. In reality, their bonds will be torn. Does Arnas protect the life of her close friend, or sacrifice the saint’s life to the Ruler of the Night? For these girls in conflict, their fated decision draws nearer at every moment.

Arnas (voiced by MAO) – A holy knight that serves the curia. She once touched the blood of the Ruler of the Night, and has become half-human, half-monster. With her bloodsucking ability coming from her half-monster side, she fights using a demon sword formed from her blood. She is a quiet and calm girl at first glance, but has strong passion hidden within.

Lyuritis (voiced by Hiromi Igarashi) – The chosen saint of the current era. In exchange for her life, she is destined to seal away the Ruler of the Night. Arnas is Lyuritis’ close friend from boarding school. Although she only grasps the expectations of the curia to a certain extent, she has accepted her fate as a saint. Her nickname is “Lulu.”

#0:
Q: Any word on localization for the West?
A: Koei Tecmo has announced that the PlayStation 4 version will be localized for North America and Europe in 2016. They did not mention anything about the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita versions of the game.

#1:
Q: What type of game is this?
A: Action RPG. Watch the videos in the Media section, should give you a fairly good idea of what to generally expect gameplay wise.

#2:
Q: Do I need to know Japanese to play this game?
A: If you want to know whats going on in the story yes. Though since it is also an Action RPG would imagine that fumbling through the game blindly is possible. Since the game is announced for the West in 2016, you might as well wait for that if you are unable to understand Japanese, unless you really want to play this now.

#3:
Q: Do you have a list of trophies for the game?
A: Yes right here, click on this text to go to the HP with the trophies list.
*Trophy descriptions are all in Japanese.

#5:
Q: Are there any official review scores out?
A: The Famitsu Scores are as follows below.
Yoru no Nai Kuni (PS4) – 9/8/8/7 [32/40]
Yoru no Nai Kuni (PS3) – 9/8/8/7 [32/40]
Yoru no Nai Kuni (PSV) – 9/8/8/7 [32/40]

Do everyone here a favor and leave out the stupid

" Bu-bu-but I thought this was a Ni no Kuni sequel. :("

type of comments. As all it does is shit up the thread and add nothing useful to the conversation.

That also includes the reverse of whining about Ni no Kuni. As it has NOTHING to do with this game or topic.

Thanks for the title.

But it's in the title! Do we frown on OT title compliments

I find it interesting that the PS4 and Vita editions got the same score, despite the Vita version looking absolutely awful to keep the framerate up (which I'd much rather have over a good-looking bad framerate version of the game.)

The PS4 version looks fantastic, though. Nice and smooth 1080p60.

Thanks for the title.

I just put that in there, since pretty much everyone who was actually interested in the game was getting tired of the constant Ni no Kuni comments which has nothing to do with this title.

Love that this game is apparently only 15-20 hours. Gettin' too old for this 80 hour RPG shite.

Most action rpgs these days are generally not that long in length due to the difference in content and design. But am sure that can be extended depending with how deep you want to go into the game itself.

Id imagine they graded it more off of the hardware limitations rather than doing "dick comparisons". As if that was the case the Vita version would always be scoring lower than the PS4 in situations like this lol.

Its the same reason why there is not really any Utawarerumono False Mask Vita footage. As its not exactly the prettiest thing to show off for the battle graphics, even more so when put in comparison with the PS4 one.

I have both the PS4 / PSV version of this game, just have not had time to mess with either yet unfortunately. Id be using the PSV version for mindless leveling rather than progressing in the game, then switch back to the PS4 when I want to progress.

Was looking for this OT yesterday lol. Nice job as always.

Have a chunk of change in my psn account and waiting for some impressions before I decide whether to pick up tokyo xanadu or this.

After watching a little of the stream this is good news, one of my concerns is that it would overstay its welcome.

Only other concern I had was that the amount of cutscenes/exposition, there was a lot in what I watched but I can forgive that since it was the very beginning of the game. As long as they become fewer and further between as the game progresses it should be fine.

lol yeah sorry about that, bunch of delays. meds I took last night knocked me out a lot earlier than had planned. Wanted this up hours before. D:

I know I say it a lot, but damn you make nice OTs.

I need this game so much, I'm so glad it's already confirmed for a western release.

Thanks, yeah its good to see how on point Koei Tecmo + Gust has been in general with all of these Western releases. I mean shit even the INSANE title for localization work like Nobunaga's Ambition is back, along with their announcement of ROTK will be making its way to the West again too shows that they are dead serious about English language support. As those games have got to be the most expensive when it comes to work involved with the localization, due to the insane amount of text and checking that needs to go on with all of the various triggered events based on variables. Even 2016 is going to be insane for games with how much stuff we already know is showing up next year. Including Western titles too.

*Confirmed with ZhugeEx that currently it seems that the ROTK English version has only been announced for Asia at this time. So will have to wait for an official announcement on that for the West from the US or EU channels.

Since its a Gust title guess we can expect the usual design in terms of flow with the gameplay. And the usual long introductions filling out the story / setting. Have not had time to check it out yet, but will let you know how it is when I get time to advance in the title.

Ordered the collection box from Gust's shop for the PS4. One cannot resist the temptation of extra goodies. Funny since I don't have a PS4. Not yet, anyway.

The main reason for going after the premium box thing was for the soundtrack. As was highly impressed by the samples the OHP had. Seeing how the graphics are too yeah Id say the PS4 version would be the route to go. Esp with this title throwing out attack / skill / spell effects like it was candy. lol

Is this really a yuri game?

Also, I'll watch this thread for impression so hopefully it is not littered by muh sequel of mediocre game.

Okay, I couldn't resist the 2 CD OST and I hope I will be joining this party in a month.

As usual, great OT. Hopefully, this game is also great.

Thanks, yeah am quite interested to see how Gust does with an action rpg like this one. Esp considering they seem to be doing a lot of varied things with the game system with the weapon switching, minions and transformation mode.

Well, this is in the OP

No idea if that changes over the course of the game.

That should be about it for updates to the OT. Know there is free DLC stuff which goes live on the 15th, but dont think Ill bother to add that into the OT at this time. Might do it later.

Tokyo Xanadu was midnight avaliable (with pre-load since mid september)

Yorukuni is normal sell, afternoon JST

For those who didnt pre-order Xanadu went live around 1100 yesterday.

So YNNK didnt do something similar?

was this confirmed? I thought it was just an English language Asian version announcement

Haha, nice title.

Thanks for posting those gameplay videos, Parakeetman. Game seems fun, will wait and support the western release though.

There's a trophy for getting all the "helper demons", of course... and it's only a bronze one.

This is gonna be one hell of a ride to platinum, can't wait.

Koei Tecmo Europe Twitter

*Saw that you meant ROTK. Trying to find that news blurb had saw. Though as mentioned below might have been a misinterpretation of the Asian version which will also include English. Will update this post if I can find the link.

Yeah this is most def going to be interesting. Seeing that merchant system makes me wonder if some of them are going to have to be obtained from using that? As with what it sounds like, thats one way that you obtain more rare items and such. Will look into it when I start with the title later.

Yep no problem. Seems like a few folks also got it ahead of time as vids are up on YT. Just pulled those 2 down from the same person.

Wow looks so pretty! Arnas kind of reminds me of Inori from Guilty Crown. I was thinking I wanted it on Vita but Dio said it looks bad so I shall look forward to the PS4 version :P The demons look pretty cute.

I think he was talking about ROTK

Ah yeah just saw it now that you mentioned it with the bolded part.

Gotta look for that info. Although could have been what I saw was a misrepresentation of that. D: Was not at Gematsu thats why since they said distinctly Asian release. Hate it when shit like this happens as it drives me insane if I cant find where I saw said info. D:

Actually you know what, will go ask that Zhuge-Ex guy, since he seems to be well connected with things Koei Tecmo related.

EDIT

Confirmed with ZhugeEx that currently it seems that the ROTK English version has only been announced for Asia at this time. So will have to wait for an official announcement on that for the West from the US or EU channels.

Guess that site which I had saw it at must have fixed their article which explains why the hit isnt coming up anymore in google. D: Sorry bout the confusion folks!

1100 JST?

maybe I remember time wrong

see you(game) in 1 hr then!

Yeah a GAF member yesterday who was "F5ing" said it went live around there in the Xanadu OT. Was looking at the clock too at the time and was around 1100.

So glad that this is coming out next year. I'm actually reading positive stuff about the game and I like what I've seen of the gameplay so far.

But to be honest, I was kinda disappointed that Koei Tecmo didn't include Atelier Sophie for the localization announcement during TGS. Guess we'll just have to wait in coming months and after the game is actually released in Japan.

Wonder if its due to series fatigue going on in the West, with their sales number data that they have? As you guys kinda did get bombarded with their games for a while lol.

Could be, Koei Tecmo always had weird management of the series ever since the surprise release of Atelier Totori Plus a couple of years ago. But they're still bringing them over so I'm happy. Also waiting for Escha&Logy Plus but that can wait as well.

Am curious about what kind of LE you folks will get out there. Since this is one game that most def deserves to have an OST with it.

---

Also added this to the OT

22 Minutes of recorded PSV gameplay footage

For those curious about what PSV footage looks like.

I don't normally get LE's but I will consider it if the price/content ratio is right for me.

At minimum I'd like the game + OST, maybe an art book/posters or something visual.

Id say even if it came just with the OST for the soundtrack samples that we have heard so far would most def be worth it as Gust always does a pretty good job with music. Esp this title in particular which is why splurged on the Premium Box lol. The rest of the shit I could care less if it went missing or not ( ̄▽ ̄)

Nice OT.

I'm waiting for HMV to ship my order. Should have gone with AmiAmi. They're usually faster than HMV in my experience.

Put the vita ver next to it for size comparison with the Premium Box.
That looks huge D:
I just remembered that I went for the premium box too. I'm a sucker for artbooks and OSTs. Hopefully, EMS shipping will still be sub 2k yen.

As for undertones. The seiyuu asked if Gust viewed this as a yuri game. Producer (?) said that it's up for interpretation. I'll take it as having enough (over?)undertones for one to treat it as such. And so I shall.

Edit:

PSN Asia will have the digital JP version up on the 1st of Oct.
YORUNONAIKUNI
