Three in February - Leap Into Your Backlog

The challenge is to finish 3 or more games a month. What counts as finishing a game can sometimes be fuzzy, so go with what you're satisfied with. There are no hard rules.

I find that having this goal can be a good reminder to pick up some old saves, and motivation to continue games through the occasional frustrating times. :)

Please post your goals for the month, and please share your triumphs and setbacks and impressions of the games as the month goes by.

How Long to Beat is a big help, giving me a good idea of how much longer a game will take.
Backloggery can be used to keep track of the games you have and haven't finished, to prevent a game from falling through the cracks.
Does anyone have other tools they use?

52 Games. 1 Year. 2016. is a thread for if you're looking for a bigger challenge.

Good luck to everyone chipping away at their backlog. :)

Three in January - New Year, Old Games
_____________________________________________
As for me, I finished:
Firewatch: Finished on the 12th. I didn't love it, dialogue was good though. Watching others make different choices improved my appreciation for the game.
Middle Manager of Justice: Finished on the 16th. Played on a phone, the interface wasn't very good for it (eg putting party members into battle, which happens often, involves scrolling four slots, only two of which are visible at any time), but the slight prodding towards microtransactions weren't bad.
Layers of Fear: Finished on the 19th. I started thinking its horror was effective, but it was reduced by there usually not being any danger.
The Witness: Finished on the 29th, all but one area. It's almost definitely going to be one of my ten favourites this year, but also one of my ten favourites from recent years. It is challenging, surprising and beautiful.

I completed 11 games last month, most of which were in the first half because I didn't get to game much in the second. I hope to finish at least half of that this month. Some were really short before.

Aiming for:

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (playthrough 2, different version)
Fortified
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
The Tower of Deadly Monsters
Amplitude
Not a Hero
The Unfinished Swan

If we're counting games not out yet, then Unravel, Far Cry Primal.

I want to get at least 4 this month.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (PS4) - Currently playing and 8 bosses in. Have three days off work starting tomorrow so I'm going on a massive binge here :p Should be able to finish it in a week or so.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth (PS4) - Have this preordered and it'll be my next big game to tackle. Should be able to get it finished this month as well.

Then in addition to those I'll do two smaller 'chill out' games when I don't feel like playing the big RPGs.

Katamari Damacy (PS2) - Currently playing this one as well, and maybe 1/3 through it? Will continue to play it alongside DS2.

Life is Strange (PS4) - Waited for a physical copy to grab this one, and I'll be starting it after Katamari.

If I finish those I'll probably start up Final Fantasy IV (PSP), The Talos Principle (PS4) or Steins;Gate (PSV) depending on my mood :p

I've got 6 in my list. Most of these are short or i have spent some time already, so i should be able to get through most quick enough.

1. The Witness
2. Oxenfree
3. Hacknet
4. Ryse: Son of Rome
5. The Talos Principle

Maybe Firewatch.

Here's hoping I finish more than one game this month... Here's the ones I'd like to play:

  • The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (PS4)
  • Firewatch (PS4)
  • Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (PSP)
  • The Witness (PS4)

Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is up first. Seems like a pretty cool adventure game so far.

I just installed that strongbad game. I had two episodes on Wii years ago but never finished it. I guess I can try finding other games in my backlog to finish as well. Will update.

the goals are
Codename steam
dark souls
a wii, wiiu or 3ds game to be determined after dark souls breaks my spirit.

if DS breaks my spirit so thoroughly that I can't bring myself to carry on at all this month, I'll pick something out of my steam backlog. Penumbra? idk.

Need to finish The Witness (PC) shouldn't take more than few days.

Then it's Environmental Station Alpha, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Firewatch, Unravel and finally Fire Emblem Fates.

So month of new games mostly. Next month will be old classics then.

Gonna try four this month:

- Yakuza (PS2)
- Unravel (PS4)
- Firewatch (PS4)
- The Longest Journey (PC)

I'll probably finish Virtue's Last Reward today or tomorrow but I already clocked in over 25 hours on that one in January so I'm not gonna count that.

my backlog!

i'm down, should have Shining: the Holy Ark done in the next few days (loving the shit out of that one), might pepper in some EDF and a short saturn one like Burning Rangers if the mood's right, then onto Shining Force III. dunno if i can beat the latter in this short month but hopefully these 3 will put me in a better spot to start doing more damage to said backlog!

My goals for February are:

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die (PC)
Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)
Final Fantasy XIII (PC)
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (Vita)
Final Fantasy VII (PS4)

Decided to do a Final Fantasy February. Have a lot of free time since I have 5 weeks of holidays after a test on Friday. But Street Fighter V drops soon, so I don't know if I'll make it.

1. Doom 3 BFG edition

2. Legend of Zelda : oracle of seasons

3. Mario and Luigi : Paper Jam

4. Grim Fandango Remastered

My three for this month:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

Uncharted 3: Remastered

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Currently working on Cold Steel right now.

  1. The Witness (PS4)
  2. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty (PS4)
  3. Grim Fandango Remastered (PS4)
  4. Uncharted 2 Remastered (PS4)
  5. Firewatch (PS4)

2 of these are nearly finished saves so I think this list is easily possible, especially with remote play.

One day in and I've already put 3 to bed, although I'm counting them as making up for finishing nothing last month.

Life is Strange - Just had the last episode to play. Not a strong finish I felt, but the journey was still worth it.
Dragon Quest Heroes - Beat the last superboss. I made one attempt where I got wrecked because he kept buffing his attack and defense. Swap in a party member who could wipe his buffs. Still just made it after using the last of my revive items.
Spyro the Dragon - Went from 75% to 120% in the space of a couple of hours. Funny how the game seemed so much longer when I was younger.

So what to do for the rest of the month.

Uncharted Drakes Fortune (NDC) - said it last month but I want to get through the NDC before UC4, which also means.
Uncharted 2 Among Thieves - Still my favourite no doubt.
Rogue Galaxy - a big one since I intend to get every weapon for every character. I've completed 3 out 8 weapon lists so far, and I'm pretty far with at least 2 others.

Rogue Galaxy might still be a stretch to finish, which is why I'm also going to try and finish up some of the smaller games, mostly indies and PS+ games, that I've accrued.

I have a couple too work on.

Banjo and Kazooie
Gears of War 2
Gears of War 3
Dues Ex Human Revolution
Legend of Zelda
Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap

Right, I have to try and whittle this down into a list of four.

Bayonetta (Wii U)
Halo Wars (Xbox 360)
Nier (Xbox 360)
Syndicate (Xbox 360)
Enslaved (PS3)
Prince of Persia 2008 (PS3)
Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)
Vanquish (PS3)
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS4)
Tearaway Unfolded (PS4)
One game from Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (PS4)
Wolfenstein: The New Order/The Old Blood (PS4)
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita)
Splatoon (Wii U)
DmC: Devil May Cry (Xbox One)
The Evil Within (Xbox One)
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Xbox One)
Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One)
Halo 3/Halo 3: ODST (Xbox One)
Just Cause 3 (Xbox One)

There are two games meshed together in a few instances because I'd like to play both of them for story threads (Wolfenstein, Halo) so I'm counting them as one entry, not two.

Any suggestions?

Last month I finished

-DmC Devil May Cry (Steam)
-Devil May Cry HD Collection (PS3)
-Beyond Good and Evil HD (PS3)
-Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (PS4)

This month going for...

-Final Fantasy VII (Steam)
-The Legend of Zelda A Link To The Past (GBA)
-Ico & Shadow of Colossus HD Collection (PS3)
-Kingdom Hearts 3D (3DS)

Right, I have determined my four (technically, it's five, but I'm counting it as one entry).

+ Vanquish (PlayStation 3)
+ Tearaway Unfolded (PlayStation 4)
+ Just Cause 3 (Xbox One)
+ Wolfenstein: The New Blood/Wolfenstein: The Old Order (PlayStation 4)

Finished Until Dawn last night so two more to go!

Ok I did It! Hopefully I can add a few more to the list before the month is done.

1. Until Dawn - done
2. Suikoden - done
3. Bastion. - Done
4. Trauma Centre - in progress

6 titles in February is almost impossible for me, but I'll try.

NDS
Zero Escape: 999

PS4
Driveclub - DLC Evolution
Shovel Knight

PSV
The Legend of Heroes: Trails od Cold Steel

X360
Kane & Lynch 2
Killer is Dead

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Remastered - finished 2 yesterday, I'm just picking up the rest of the trophies now..
Gravity Rush Remastered - picking this up next week so hopefully I'll have finished it by the end of the month.
Firewatch - Another new title I want to pick up. It doesn't sound too long so it should be manageable.

- Dark Souls 2: SOTFS (PC): Playing the first DLC.

- Life is Strange (PC)

- Uncharted collection (PS4)

Should be a good month. :D

My backlog has returned thanks to my new PS4 and PSTV. I'm spending the early part of this year focused on Sony platforms since the cast couple Wii U games ended up being a part of my import backlog so I'll getting around to them a little later.

[3DS]Final Fantasy Explorers - In progress
[3DS]Japanese Rail Sim 3D: Journey in Suburbs #1 - in progress
[PSTV]Amnesia: Memories - pending
[PS4]Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - pending
[PS3]Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - pending

Shouldn't be too hard to manage but it depends on how quickly I get access to my room since we're doing some remodeling and I can really only play portable games at the moment.

My Three:

Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC)
Life is Strange (PS4)
XCOM 2 (PC)

Also may complete a couple of others but not decided yet such as finally putting time into Mad Max (PC) and finishing it.

Already have 2 down:

Scholar of the First Sin
Black Ops 3

Not for sure what I want to complete for my 3rd one, probably something from this list:

- Life is Strange
- Gears of War 2
- Mad Max
- Destiny

[PS3] Yakuza 5
[PS3] Demon's Souls - Deluxe Edition
[XBO] Destiny

My backlog isn't too big but some of the titles take a bit long.

I finally broke and sold about 80% of my backlog to Gamestop during the extra 50% trade credit. Now I have $775 in credit to make a new backlog!

I hope to beat at least 3 of these games this month:

PC:
Dragon's Dogma
Evoland 2 100% Completion (Only 1 Achievement away)

PS4:
Dragon Quest Heroes
The Witness

3DS:
Chibi Robo Zip Lash

It's just difficult because I like to play Rivals of Aether, Melee, PM and Rocket League pseudo regularly.

the goals are
Codename steam
dark souls
a wii, wiiu or 3ds game to be determined after dark souls breaks my spirit.

if DS breaks my spirit so thoroughly that I can't bring myself to carry on at all this month, I'll pick something out of my steam backlog. Penumbra? idk.

Progressing through codename steam at a steady pace. A game that sounds like it was pitched by a meme-spouting random writing prompt generator has no business being this fun and actually sort of funny. should've figured that an intsys strategy game was a safe bet and bought it sooner.

haven't budged in dark souls.

the tbd 3DS game turned into pushmo. I beat the main set of levels but then the bonus levels popped up after the kids were all rescued so i'm not gonna count it til they are done. I forgot how much i loved pushmo and crashmo.

i've been slacking on smash practice though.....

One down: LEGO Marvel's Avengers!

I'm getting close with Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, and have decided not to play anymore Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom because it hasn't clicked with me. At least, not right now.

My list:

  1. The Witness
  2. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
  3. The Evil Within
  4. Alien: Isolation

Already started playing them, so i think its gonna be easy to complete the list. Although i have a lot of work this month. =/

What I hope to beat:

Bayonetta 2 - time to finally beat what little remains. Been sitting at 80% done for too long.

Street Fighter V - I know it's only arcade mode for launch but I'm counting it.

Kid Icarus: Uprising - I don't know why I stopped at
the first "ending"
. Should be an easy process.

Not the most ambitious month but at the same time I don't want to commit to too much since I don't get a lot of time for games.

Just warning you.the scholar DLC is almost impossible to solo, you'll need assistance but it's awesome

I'm going for:

Bayonetta 1. Her inclusion in Smash has got me all fired up for her advetures again.

Earthbound Beginnings: Mother 3 is on the way. Time to polish off the first game. Plus this will serve as a pallet cleaner before i dive into --

Bayonetta 2: Had it since release. Time to pull the trigger on it.

Wii U putting in work this month.

Goals are:

Firewatch
MGS V
Uncharted Collection - All Three

Which is seemingly a lot since that's like a 3 in 1 game really. But Feb is fairly empty in terms of what I want to play. So I'm hoping to get those squared away!

Maybe I can add XCOM to the list but I am not making any promises to myself.

I am going for:

Ori and the Blind Forest
SOMA
Transformers: Devastation
Resident Evil Revelations 2

I have already completed 88% of Ori and 2 episodes of Resident Evil.

I'm never getting the platinum in Taco Master, so I officially deem it complete. Those darn crabs...

I'm also adding a game, so here's the list now:

Taco Master (Vita)
Need for Speed (PS4)
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (PS4)
Fat Princess Adventures (PS4)
Mad Max (PS4)

OK I may not get to completion but my main is Xcom 2
Also jumped back into Diablo 3

Console wise I'm deep deep into Xenoblade Wii U
