Everything begins in March. Launch seems very bare bones

You will be able to get Alex for free via fight money from playing single player content
And one final thing (I promise), some of you may have heard the news that Alex will be available to all Street Fighter V players in March 2016 as well, and I’m happy to re-confirm that news here. At launch, playing through most of the single player content (in fact, just the Character Stories) will give you enough Fight Money to get Alex for free! We’ll have more information to share on Alex and the other post launch characters soon, so stay tuned.

So one DLC fighter a month? That's way quicker than I was expecting. I figured it'd be one for every two months.

I was debating as to whether I should pick this up at launch or wait a bit. I think I might hold off then, esp if Challenges aren't at launch. That Chun-Li preorder costume is tempting though.

Game sounds like it should've been free to play.

It's essentially an f2p game with a mandatory starter bundle, but you're getting pretty good value out of that.

I could see them making it fully f2p in a couple of years when they don't think they'll move any more of the base game.

I'm gonna need your reasoning behind that.
Releasing incredibly barebones with essential content being added months later. Xrd, MKX, Chronophantasma are all $60 games and came out with more shit at launch than this. Just looking at the content model, it reminds me of something you would see in a free to play game.

When was the last time a fighting game this big released this barebones?

I'm expecting that too. They want SFV to last all gen, but they're ditching the 'SUPER' system of updating. They're gonna have to make the entry price super small for the core roster.

I'm hoping that's not everything coming in 2016. I'd like some new stages and modes as well, but maybe they just aren't ready to talk about that stuff yet.

Yeah, I can see that. I'm sure that both Capcom and Sony would like a more immediate ROI on this game than hoping that a f2p model would work right from the jump.

I would take it that playing the entire Cinematic Story mode will probably be enough to get another character i would guess.

Surprised even the shop isn't ready yet. I don't think we'll be able to get the Story Mode bonus costumes until they patch it in.

Oh, I love it, A DLC character every month and the so expected Cinematic Story expansion that i'm seriously crazy to play. Gimme!!!

Nice. Would have preferred the game to be delayed to include the first update, but cool.

We'll likely get a major update every 3 months or so, with rebalance being the focus this fall.

According to people who have it already, you can still get stuff with Fight Money like costumes, just not stuff with Zenny/real money.

So either fight money rewards decrease if you replay sp content or the other characters are going to cost more

Very cool. That also means I can do all the single player content and just wait for a character I want to play instead of Alex. Win/win.

Cool of them to show us this road map. looks like Black Friday will be a good time to pick this up with the season pass.

I really hope that image isn't the order the characters release.

On one hand, I won't have to worry about grinding for fight money to unlock Balrog/Urien, on the other hand I have to wait forever to get them..

No story mode.
No endless lobby.
No spectator mode.
No trials.
Four matches per arcade battle.
10 fight survival mode.

.....$60 game!

And yet, that content is coming later, for free.

Does Killer Instinct have a cinematic story mode?

If SF V is really going to be supported for years, that $60 asking price seems pretty damn reasonable.

Besides the absence of lobbies and character challenges this is pretty similar to SFIV vanilla's launch on consoles.

I'm assuming the lobbies and challenges are free updates?

Yeah, so my Third Strike main Urien will probably be in September only.
No biggie, in the meanwhile I'll be devouring people with Necalli... ;)

Does that mean there are no lobbies in the game at launch or that the lobby in the game at launch is...pretty barebones? Can't even spectate at launch? That's pretty damn bad.

Have they said if PC players can invite PS4 player to lobbies and vice versa? A friend/rival's list maybe?

Sony really putting Capcom to work here...I heard the development for this game has been very very speedy, and under a really strict timeline. Hard work. Really insane turn around.

Good for gamers that's for sure. Lots of content at a pretty fast rate.

Then...release the game...in...March?
Again, wait? I don't give a shit about those features, I just want the base game.
I'll grab it in March. Still think it's dumb that people have to wait.
So it's fine if the game releases in March, making people wait another month for it, but not that the game releases in February and people that want those features can wait till March?

?????????????

I'm sure this is not a good value for you. Don't buy the game. Still a great $60 value for me since I'm in it to do what I always did in USFIV.

I care more about the gameplay then I do meaningless content that never appealed to me. And the gameplay justifies the price tag.
