I am a person who truly believes that some movies are just meant to be fun, but this just looks dumb.
Looks like dumb fun. I'm in.
Yeah, I'm in for Cammy [face_drooling]Cammy toe is back on the menu, boys!
Started off rough but my wtf face started smiling a lot halfway through. I think this one is going to be a lot more enjoyable to watch as a whole rather than just snippets of scenes. They nailed the kinda serious, kinda funny, kinda stupid in all the right ways.
Cast is pretty good indeed, Cammy could be a bit more juicier. It looks like it captures the tone and camp of the Street Fighter world perfectly. The cast is dead on. I dont know if it'll be a great movie, but it cant be worse than the Van Damme Street Fighter.
The good thing is that they decided to follow SF6 visual style. Looks just right.I feel like the people behind this film understood the assignment, and the music is actually perfect. It's a celebration of stupidity, which is perfectly in line with the actual lore and storylines of the game.
If some people had their way, the tone of the film would've been much more serious, which would've clashed with how retarded Street Fighter actually is. Maybe that works for animation, but not for live action. It should lean into the dumb campiness of it all, and just try to show you a good time with fun fights, hot women, and big dudes ripping off their shirts and shooting fireballs. A Street Fighter movie doesn't need to be anything more than that.
I got all the seasons on dvd still. That scene alone with ryu learning the Hadoken looks better then this trailer. Also the intro for the American version already gets you locked in .This Ryu and Ken and their backstory feel like they might be somewhat based on the "Street Fighter II: V" anime (The V stood for Victory).

Not sure how many people here watched it but here are the similarities:
- Ryu and Ken have fun and adventures in the U.S. as young adults and best friends (like going to bars, singing karaoke, and getting into bar fights)
- Ryu is more grounded, likeable, and relatable rather than the usual 'stoic wandering martial artist seeking better opponents'
- Chun Li was sort of a 'guide' finding fighters and found Ryu and Ken
- Balrog and Vega were much more important/strong characters
- The show treated both Ryu and Ken getting back into their game gi outfits as a big deal.
- The Hadouken itself was treated as a big/hyped moment in the anime when you finally got to see Ryu achieve it
