EA said:
MAKING GREAT GAMES AT MOTIVE STUDIOS AND VISCERAL GAMES
June 2, 2016

By Jade Raymond, Group General Manager Motive Studios and Visceral Games

It’s been a busy year.

With EA PLAY right around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to update everyone on the world of Motive™ Studios and Visceral Games™. Let’s get right to the point: we have awesome projects underway at both Motive and Visceral, and we are looking for some more amazing people to join our teams.

Last year, I wrote that the only limitation we have as game developers is the team’s imagination. I have always believed that to be true. But what’s really hit me since launching Motive last July and growing our team with so many talented people from across the world, is just how exciting and fun working with new people is. There truly is no limit to what’s possible.

Motive Studios is now 65 industry veterans strong, adding more each week, and driven by unbridled creativity to make unforgettable action games. We are well on our way, beginning our journey with a Star Wars™ game, and exploring ideas for our original IP. It’s really quite amazing to be a part of, and I can’t wait to be able to share more details about Motive’s projects.

Meanwhile, the team at Visceral Games is forging ahead into an exciting phase of development. Seeing Amy Hennig lead this team through the creative process has been incredible. She is a rare breed of storyteller, and she’s collaborating with the creative leaders at Lucasfilm to tell a new, authentic Star Wars story. Backed by the talented Visceral team, Amy and studio GM Scott Probst are taking this project in groundbreaking directions.

Of course, there’s a lot more to the story with each of these projects in our EA Star Wars portfolio, and we’ll be super excited to share more updates in the months ahead.

But first, if you’re interested in joining us, let’s talk! Two great studios, and a lot of great opportunities from the Motive team in Montreal to Visceral Games in Redwood Shores. We are looking for passionate developers in all areas who want to help create EA’s next great Star Wars games. Visit our Careers website for more information. We’d love to hear from you.

See you in a couple weeks!

Old quote:

I’M THRILLED THAT THE FIRST BIG PROJECT THAT WE WILL WORK ON IN MONTREAL WILL HAVE AMY AS CREATIVE DIRECTOR. AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH HER AND THE VISCERAL TEAM, AND TO PLAY IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE, IS ONCE-IN-A-LIFE-TIME STUFF.

Amy Hennig, save us!!

Wait what? They worked on Viscerals Star Wars game, they helped until they were big enough. They stated that they won't do Star Wars but original IPs when they are big enough for their own projects.

Then Respawn (Titanfall) announced they do Star Wars. Are they mixing something up? Wait, i check my sources.

So we have Visceral, Respawn, DICE and Raymond's team? Bioware too?

Jesus i hope they are varied enough between them.

Eh, it's only been 1 movie and 1 game but already I'm starting to get exhausted by Disney's handling of Star Wars. I'm a huge fan and grew up loving Star Wars but give us a moment to breathe.

No, Motive is making both a Star Wars game, and an original IP

Feels like a waste of talent to have 4 studios all working on Star Wars games, but, I suppose money talks. Good for fans, I guess.

Yeah but is that Star Wars game their own, original game, aswell as new original IPs with no Star-Wars-connection, or is the Star Wars game just Amy Hennings? Because they worked on that for months until they grew big enough to make own games. Thats what i am unsure now.

EA going full Star Wars.

Can't read the article at work, but I assume that this is full production and not just pre-production based on the staff size? Still means it would be at least two years out.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
What? This game isn't even started yet?

Look forward to playing this on PS5.
Look at the bright side: now it can have Episode VIII and maybe even IX content.

Unless it goes for OT material, again...

They were/are helping Amy's game, and also making their own SW game. And also making new non SW IP.

At least that is what they said in the briefing and what it is written in this post of today

Why announce this so earlier? Keep it quiet till it's ready.

They "announced" Visceral SW game years ago and we still need to wait until 2018 for that game. Few weeks ago they announced that Respawn is working on SW game and that won't be out before 2019. And now they announced Motive SW game and that is maybe 2020 game if not later. For some reason they just need to brag how they work on SW games.

Why are you guys complaining ? The only recent star wars game we got was Battlefront and it was incredibly mediocre and lacklustre.

I'm actually thirsty for some Star Wars after SW7 .

At this rate all games in the future will be Star Wars

Lightsaber's Edge
Plants v.s. Sith
Zombies v.s. Jedi
Ultimate Rancor Fighting Championship 3
Kessel Run Racing featuring John Madden's Space Winnebago
Star Wars FIFA 19 (with Messi, Jar Jar, and BB-8 on the cover)
SimCloudCity (requires Internet connection)

There better be Star Wars racer amidst all these EA studios. What is Criterion working on? Are they also on the Star Wars train?

Star Wars riding the money train and getting all these games, still hardly more than a handful of good comicbook games out there.

smh.
