Three in January - Unclog Your Backlog

The challenge is to finish three or more games in a month!

It doesn't matter how long or short the games are, or even if you're already near the end. Or if you've finished it before, as long as you wanted to finish it again. What counts as finishing a game can sometimes be fuzzy, so you should use your own judgment.

Please post the games you hope to finish and share your successes, setbacks and impressions as the month goes by. Best of luck to everyone!

Hopefully these might help:
How Long to Beat is a big help, as a general guide for how big an undertaking a game will be.
The Backloggery is a way to keep track of your games and which ones you've finished.

I have finished:
Dragon Quest VII: 3DS version, finished on the 13th, after grinding for gold for a bit to buy better equipment for the final boss. There were some highlights to the story but overall it was disappointing compared to other Dragon Quest games.
Paper Mario: Colour Splash: Finished on the 16th. I thought I would probably regret buying it, but I am glad that I played it. It made its way to my Top 10 list for last year. Some of the joy of the writing of the opening hours was replaced by frustration as the game went on ('they expected me to do THAT?'), however.
Hitman: Finished the story on the 17th. I haven't played a whole lot of the rest of the game, however, which I am moving on to do some more of. That's probably the main part of the game, but I'll consider it finished for these purposes.
Gunman Clive: The first game on the HD Collection on Wii U, finished on the 18th. It's excellent. Great art style and fun levels.
Refunct: Finished on the 19th. It's a short and relaxing first-person platformer that works very well.
AdVenture Capitalist: Finished on the 29th. I got all unlocks on all locations (Earth, Moon, Mars), with no real money spent or system clock manipulation at all. It's a good incremental game that I enjoyed for the strategy with what to upgrade and being rewarded with bigger numbers, but I am relieved that I am done with it.

I'll try for:
Gravity Rush Remastered: I bought it recently. I'm up to chapter 7, but I'm not playing it much.
Yakuza 0: A great game with an excellent story. It does frustrate during its low points with interruptions by subquests starting with cutscenes when just walking to an unrelated destination. But the game more than makes up for this when it's going well.
Resident Evil VII: I am up to the third area. Since I am trying to just play it at night, I'm going slowly with it.

So many games this month...

Gravity Rush 1 since two is coming out soon.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero since it would be nice to finally play/beat a game I helped Kickstart. :p

Persona 4: Golden since I haven't played through it for a few years now, plus I haven't platinumed it yet. Figure since I haven't really beaten the spin-offs either, would be good to do one a month until Persona 5 hits in April.

Hope to play through at least three of the following:

Dishonored (on Mission 6 already)
Final Fantasy IV interlude
Sonic the Hedgehog
Fallout 3
Resogun

Happy new year to everyone.
Now, back to the work.:)

NDS
Ghost Trick

PS4
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Virginia

XBO
Ori and the Blind Forest DE
Unravel

Final Fantasy XV
Deus ex: MD
Doom
That's what I'm planning on beating, almost done with FF so I may throw in FE:Fates well at least one side of the games.

My backlog takedown is the following for January 2017

• The Order 1886
• Life is Strange
• Broken Sword 5 Episode 2
• Tales from the Borderlands

Can't wait, yet at the same time my backlog will be getting shorter which makes the wait for newer games I wanna play even harder. Gotta be strong I guess.

Good idea

Mine are:
Final Fantasy XV (just started chapter 8, want the platinum though)

Hitman (Just Hokiddo left to actually play through, want some more level mastery fro some unlocks first though)

Walking Dead Season 3

and as an extra bonus, finally get to level 25 on Overwatch so I can access competitive games finally

Currently playing Alien: Isolation, Darkest Dungeon and Shadow Warrior 2. I think DD will be a slow burner and SW2 will be finished in a week or so. If that's the case, I can probably fit Oxenfree and Far Cry: Primal into this month too.

Finished Firewatch today. Wonderful game that managed to captivate me from beginning to end.

Currently playing through:

- Odallus: The Dark Call
- The Witcher 3: Heart of Stone
- Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright

I intend to at least finish the following games this month:

- Odallus: The Dark Call
- Oxenfree
- Axiom Verge

Gravity Rush Remastered - Platinum achieved
Tearaway Unfolded - Completed
ABZU - Completed

The Last Guardian
Inside

Pokemon Moon
The Last Guardian
Firewatch
Undertale

I need to finish the first two before the 21st so I can properly do a top 10 for 2016. Firewatch and Undertale were Christmas gifts from friends who I promised I would beat them before the end of January (I got them each The Witness with the same deadline). I'm hoping to finish Firewatch before the 21st, also, as it came out in 2016, but I won't be too put out about it if not.

After the sales I really want to get some of the games out of the way:

* Duke Nukem 3D World Tour: half way there, should be do-able.
* Mutant Mudds: seems like a small platformer, played the first 3 levels
* MGS V: finish all the main missions + max out most of the stuff. This is going to take quite a while, but I use a mod so it's less time consuming and I'm already done with most of the missions.

Gravity Rush Remastered - Never finished it on Vita. Looking forward to GR2.
The Last Guardian - I was still playing FFXV when this came out, so I haven't played this one yet.
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 - Easily my favorite franchise, I'll play through 3D again, can't wait for 0.2.

My birthday/Christmas backlog is:

Doom
The Last Guardian
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

...plus Firewatch is in the mail from Limited Run, and I'm sure I'll be picking up Gravity Rush 2. I'm hoping to finish three of those before the month's out.

The Witcher 3 (XBO) - Almost done, 35 hours played roughly
Mafia 3 (XBO) - 2% done so far
Gears Of War 4 (XBO) - Not started yet

Going to try and do the following:

Ratchet and Clank (PS4) - bought this Black Friday, excited to play it

Terraway Unfolded (PS4) - bought Black Friday, have heard good things

Gears 4 (XB1) - been waiting for my friend to grab it to do co-op and he finally got it over the holidays. Very excited for this

I'm sure I'll play and maybe beat more, but that's my focus :P

Gonna try to finish up quite a few games this month.

Assassin's Creed 2
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Jazzpunk
Trine 3
Inside
Virginia
Skylanders Imaginators

Looking to get a few out of the way this month

PS3
God of War 3

PC
XCOM Enemy Within
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Dishonored 2

Wii-U
Yoshi Woolly World

My goal will be:
Firewatch
Gravity Rush Remastered
INSIDE
After that I'll probably start Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Completed:
Firewatch
INSIDE
MGSV: The Phantom Pain
Beneath a Steel Sky

Odin Sphere and Skyrim for me.....

Not much time because once RE7, GR2, and Yakuza 0 comes out then those games will be my focus

oxnenfree- played for 2 hours and loved the atmosfere
sleeping dogs- should finish in few hours
tales from the borderlands - heard only good thing about this one

don't think i will have time for more this month because of exams.

Happy New Year everyone!

My goals:

  • Xanadu Next
  • Ys Origins
  • Killer is Dead

All on PC. Maybe I can finish all pretty soon. Don't have as much time at the end of the month.

Aiming for:
Pokemon Sun (over halfway)
Lego Harry Potter Collection (on year 2)
Devil Survivor Overclocked (near the end)

I'm planning on doing nothing vaguely productive for a few days when my exams are over towards the ends of the month so I might get another game in, probably Bound by Flame or Dungeon Siege 3

Fallout 4 - Finish main story, quit playing side quests
Modern Warfare Remastered - Finish campaign
Final Fantasy XIV - Reach level 30

These threads are a pretty good idea. Really want to start finishing up some games in my backlog.
Finally need to finish up
Gears of War 4
Forza Horizon 3
Dragon Age Inquisition

Quite the task considering how much stuff there is to do in Forza and Dragon Age but I'm really enjoying all three of those games plus Overwatch and Battlefield 1 keep dragging me back in. Just have to organize my time.

Gravity Rush Remastered - I think I'm about halfway through.
Orwell - Just started.
Event[0] - Got it on sale and I heard it's pretty short.
Gemini Rue - If Event[0] is really short I might have time for this.

Hoping to complete:

Pokemon Moon
The Last Guardian
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II

The last one will be tough. Only 20 hours in...

1. Tales from the Borderlands
2. Until Dawn
3. Inside

I'm almost done Final Fantasy 15 (On Chapter 14) so I'll probably finish that up tonight and I might try to finish Dark Cloud 2 which I got about 4 hours in about a month ago but haven't touched since.

I'm planning to try and do more than 3 since I started 52 games again but my list right now is:

1. SMTIV: Apacolpyse
2. Dragon Quest VII 3DS
3. I am Setsuna

I'll use this thread as a way to kick off my Backlog Blitz entry. I did badly in 2016, so here's to acquiring fewer new games and playing the good stuff I already have.

I'm undecided on which games to play in January, but I'm already working on Dishonored 2, the Talos Principle, and Axiom Verge. Also, I'm close to finishing Pokemon Sun.

I'm game. I plan on at least starting and finishing Doom and Catherine. I'll probably finish put some time into Battlefield 1 or maybe Need for Speed.

I don't have enough time or patience to finish any game really. My backlog is massive

Shadow of Mordor
Batman Arkham Knight
The Witcher 3 and DLC
Bloodborne
Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls 3
Skyrim
Doom
Final Fantasy XV

That is just the tip of the iceberg, doesn't include my Steam collection or past PS3 games (Dark Souls, Ni No Kuni), or 3DS RPGs

I have tried to sit down and knock one off the list but I always get distracted.

I'll go for at least the following three:

- Wolfenstein the old Blood
- Life is strange
- Uncharted 4
- Doom

Maybe ill add one or two of the recent ps+ titles..

First time following this thread. Last night I decided to give this a try and set myself the following targets for January:

The Witcher 3 (close to the end)
The Last Guardian
Rise of the Tomb Raider

This morning I managed to finish The Witcher 3 after putting in 6 hours straight. Amazing game and I've just bought both expansions in the PSN sale so will get in to those at some point.
