Koizumi on Gamecube VC: "We are working on some things along those lines."

Interesting quotes from his interview with Melty (a French outlet):

As you can imagine, he didn't announce anything, but he didn't outright deny the possibility when asked about GameCube games on Virtual Console:

"We cannot give a concrete answer, because we have nothing to announce at the moment. But there's something I can tell you: we are working on some things along those lines."

Koizumi explained that the console was designed in such a way that it would be perfectly possible to connect future accessories/extensions to the Nintendo Switch (something he already mentioned in a previous interview), so such an accessory could definitely become a reality.

As for Shinya Takahashi, he explained that if Nintendo were to release GameCube-shaped Joy-Cons, they would make sure to add analog triggers. He also thinks the whole thing would be rather bulky and hideous, though!

We can't say anything right now but I can say we're sorta, I mean yeah kind of doing this but I can't say.

I know it's just his job and he can't say but I wish they'd stop beating around the bush about the virtual console and other things.

They wouldn't give false hope so to me it's a matter of "when" not "if".

Yeah I'm more intrigued by how they do it, considering he said "some things along those lines" and that he doesn't like the idea of a bulky joy-con grip. Surely that just means you can use the Wii U adapter, right?

I imagine these different joy-con types could potentially be much, much cheaper than a regular joy-con because they only have to house buttons and not HD Rumble, gyro, NFC, etc. I guess they *have* to make them wireless, correct? It would be great if different joy-con sets were a fraction of the cost of the original joy-cons.

This would complete my existence if it has the Gamecube layout.

Of course it would! Gamecube-shaped Joycons would be totally unwieldy... Except maybe for Kirby Tilt-and-Tumble, I've seen that work.

Now, Gamecube controller-shaped Joycons, that's another story!

The GC joycons can NOT be in the shape of GC controllers because it would be ugly. They have to take the joy cons and do the button layout like a GC controller and just add analog triggers.

I get VC for old NES and SNES games, but I'm more fond of getting full switch remasters of the classic titles since then, tailored to switch controls, and forget silly hardware accessories.

Splatoon 2 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a good start.
