With no new games launched this week Activision Blizzard’s ‘Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy’ (-34%) remains unchallenged at the top of the All Formats Chart for a 5th week.

It is the most weeks at No1 for a PS4 exclusive title and the most weeks at No1 for any title so far this year. Almost a third of all titles to reach No1 in 2017 were only available on Sony’s consoles (10 weeks out of 31 weeks). ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (-7%) moves up one place to No2 ahead of three promoted Bethesda titles; ‘Fallout 4’ (+27%) at No4, ‘Doom’ (+17%) at No5 and ‘Dishonered 2’ (+25%) at No6. Another on-going promotion, this time on ‘Battlefield 1’ (+55%) has it back in the Top 10, up from No14 to No7.

Still amazing to think that people doubted Crash. Sales might not be high in the UK over August, but this certainly shows the game has legs regardless.

I also think the collection offers incredible value. I look forward to the inevitable new game.

Splatoon 2 still in Top Spots...good - the UK charts are dominated by budget releases or games on sale so its good to see it keeping up there.
 
If this causes a resurgence of platformers then bring it on. Way too many fucking third-person action-adventures with foliage everywhere at Sony's E3 conference this year. The people have spoken and they're thirsty, so time to bring back the likes of Ape Escape, Jumping Flash!, Jak & Daxter and lord knows what else. Send some money Namco's way and fund a Klonoa while you're at it.

While I do think that developers with dormant platformers series should be giving them a serious second look, maybe developing pitches and prototypes for a possible revival, people should temper their expectations on this. Crash isn't just a run of the mill IP, it was one of the best selling series on the PSOne. The interest in Crash may not necessarily translate into interest for other games in the genre that were never as successful in the first place.
 
I didn't buy Crash but I'm so happy for it. Finally the industry can see that a good IP can last for years in the hearts of gamers.

I love how the only non-Nintendo game on the French chart is a colorful 3D platformer from an era where PlayStation was more like Nintendo than today.
 
I was thinking what bundles will have MS this year to try to move hardware in UK the entire year?
No Battlefield and no FIFA can hurt them.
