What games are you skipping work/school for this fall. Why and for how long?

You know you're going to do it. Some of you are already thinking up a disease or horrific accident that happened to a loved one, or maybe it's as simple as nana dying for the fifth time. This fall is going to be one of the biggest, so how much thought are you planning on putting into your annual gaming sick days, if any, and what games are you taking the bullet for?

Personally, if I'm scheduled to work it's going to be very very difficult to leave Bioshock sitting at home not getting played. I'll probably also stay home for Persona 3, and depending on how classes turn out, I'll either take Phantom Hourglass to play during class or just stay in bed for the week.
 
None.
More work = More money = More games (kinda)... :p

Is not like the games are not going to be here when I return from work.. :p
 
I'm tempted to take my vacation for Ratchet and Clank
 
the only game that i recall taking off of work or school for is halo 2. i scheduled vacation for that whole week. i re-read the novels over the weekend leading up to the release, went out on monday and bought all the food that i thought i would need, and then it was time for the game. i didn't do the whole midnight launch thing; instead, i woke up around 9 or so and prepared something that would cook in the crockpot all day and then showered, got dressed, and headed off to pick up my collector's edition copy of halo 2 at best buy. back in the apartment shortly after 11 am, i played the campaign all day and finished around 1 am on 11/10. and then... multi.

but i don't think i'll be doing that again any time soon.
 
I'm in college, so it's really not worth skipping 2 hours of daily class for a game. Usually I have to go out anyway to buy it.

That being said, I'm probably taking 2 weeks off for Rock band to maintain a state of constant inebriation.
 
I work sales, so it's not a Monday-Friday job. I just get two random off-days every week.

I'll definitely be requesting one of them for September 26th.

Okami kept me from a class or two, but that's the last time I really took time off for school. I might add that I think ditching work is a much worse idea, but I'm not opposed to keeping my mouth shut if I'm missing from the schedule for one or two days.

There is such a huge avalanche of these games we've all been anticipating for the last 3-4 years that skipping work or class is going to be more prominent than it has in a long time, I reckon.
 
I may take off a couple of days for Metroid Prime 3. We'll see how my workload pans out; it's tough to get away. It's the only upcoming game I consider atmospheric and immersive enough to bother making special time for; the others, even if they're long adventure-ish games, can be played in bites, but I want Prime without too much interruption.
 
I am still debating between getting a PS3 or an Xbox 360. When I decide I'll be taking a few days off from work to catch up on some games.
 
I have a history of skipping work to play any new GTA that has come out in the past... so I might be staying home the week GTA4 comes out.
 
Halo 3, I did the same for Halo 2, I plan to beat the single player in one sit (or online coop it) then spend the rest of the day doing multiplayer.

I would do Bioshock, but I have that day free.

I remember the worst school skip I did was for Jade Empire, only time I felt like School would have been a better choice.
 
I would have done it for GTA4. The delay means the only candidate will be Super Mario Galaxy though, and when that comes out I'll be neck deep in finals, so that's out of the question.
 
i´m taking one week off just for bioshock, don´t care about the other big hitters (maybe some mass effect love), i´m just too hyped for that game that i will not rest till i can get a 15 hour streak on it. :)
 
I took two planned days off of work for Halo 3, the 25th and 26th (Tue/Wed IIRC). I have a set schedule of Mon-Thu 8:30-7. The plan is to go to work Monday, pick up Halo 3 LE at midnight, then come home, check it out, then go to sleep (!). Then I'll wake up early and refreshed Tuesday morning and play campaign pretty much straight through. I'll have to go back to work Thursday since I didn't want to take 3 days off for it, but then I've got Fri-Sun to whore multiplayer.
 
No ssbb mentioned because smash brothers consumes your life not just a day or so. If your in college and you get the game you dont have to take off time from school the game will take the time off of school for you.
 
I've got some time off coming at the end of this month and I'll be playing some Bioshock and Blue Dragon.....though that's not reason I'm taking vacation.

I'll probably take the day off for Halo 3.

Yep, that was the last blast for me, too. I took off a whole week from basically everything to play this.

I've been tinkering with WoW here and there again since the announcement of WotLK but I doubt I'll actually pick it up. I deleted everything last time I quit. I just can't afford to take that kind of time off for a game anymore. All grown up now. Hell I really shouldn't have done it for Burning Crusade either. :P

I would love to be able to really sink my teeth into Persona 3 when it comes out but I'll probably slowly plink along like I usually do these days.
 
Bioshock. It will need to be something urgent to take me away from it for a few days at the very least.

#1 - It feels like the start of the truly kickass games on my 360. Not to seriously disparage what has come already, or dribble 'next-gen starts now', but it really does sound like a step-up.
#2 - I'm going to want to know what happens next - all of the time.
#3 - I'm probably going to need to train up to get anywhere in it.
 
Not skipping my studies but I will attend the Halo 3 midnight launch.
Just something special about getting it 14 hours before the US folks. ;)
 
Taking the whole week off from work for Halo 3. Well, not just for Halo 3 because my b-day falls on the same week, so lucky for me.
 
I attend a university, so I don't ever need to go to class since I can just read the litterature instead :) I can play all games on release day if I want to :D
Except I can't since I'm European and have to order all my PS2 games from Canada :(
Also if I was american and had to pay for school there's no way I would skip it for a game.
