Call of Duty 4 Beta Entry Goes Viral - Thanks to a Glitch

I could keep this quite but its good to share :D

I'm in the UK and a saw a bunch of my friends playing the CoD4 beta (which isn't out here yet).

Anyway I sent a chat to one of them and they told me they could get me into the Beta

What?
How?
Who?

All I had to do was give him my signing & pass (hes a good guy so no trust problems).

Anyway after 20mins I log back on and he tells me to go to my Download History in account management & what do you know I can Download the Beta.

This is how its done, - Better Description

Best beta ever. On the front page of charlieoscardelta, they should have a banner reading "from the team that brought you Call of Duty 2's netcode, comes the Call of Duty 4 beta!"

I guess this is a MS issue then, poor IW guess this would reall mess with their testing, ahh many learns!

Word would have gotten out sooner or later.

I'm not risking a banning on my gamertag for cod when Halo is this close.

Dude, a banning? No way, it wouldn't happen, Microsoft has enough bad rep at the moment.
 
its a pretty shitty loophole that need to be closed tho.

I would be pissed if I was IW and trying to get data and the flood gates are pried open and there's nothing you can do about it.

This happened a ton for the Halo 3 Beta. No one was banned... that I heard of.

I actually did this with a bunch of my friends so they could play too. I had them recover the account I downloaded the beta on, and download it themselves.

The only "problem" we have is that in order for them to play it on their own gamertags, they have to sign into the Beta on MY account, then sign into the Beta on THEIR account. With the 5 friends that need my gamertag to do this, it takes a lot of account recoveries.

To clarify, this means recovering the account every time you turn off your box.

I used a bunch of two days I got from my friends that I could use. That way I don't have to hop off my gamertag every time they want to play.
 
Umm....... giving out login password on the internet? Riiiiiiight, I'm going to just pass and wait until November. =/

(Not calling out OP for a scam, as I don't believe it is, but I can't believe how willy nilly the rest of you give out your privvys.)

I'm a little nervous, but with the length of time it will take to come to the UK, I'm willing to risk it. Besides, this guy is a straight-up dude.

Yup, they could have quite easily ordered thousands of points on the card linked to your account.
 
Gowans, I've been having problems registering to COD for a while now, I dont get the confirmation email.

I was thinking my chances of getting into the beta were zero, Gowan any chance you can assist in my bid to get in?

Name your price, I have access to many large women.
 
About to try it, I dont think its a breach of user agreement as I was at Gowans house and he invited me to join him.

So i chucked in my mem card and there we go, my gamer tag downloaded on to his system

When i went home there just happenend to be a cod4 beta on my hard drive ;)
 
So does this mean that the other person can download it to their own 360 later after doing that trick on your 360? If not, what's the point? It's really no different then letting them take a turn on your 360 and account.

Saying F*** it & making the beta open (as its yet another beta issue)

Keeping the lottery & leaving this avenue open (until MS patch it) so the people who REALLY want to get in still get in.

How exactly does this work? If i give my friend my login info, he signs me in and then signs me out, if i turn on my 360 and go to download history I'll be able to download and play the beta?

Ignore this mess that my stupid friend got me into, this is not what you'll see.
 
Basically, I'm a dick. That's pretty much the short story.


The account creation stuff is something you'll see, as that's what happens when CoD man downloads your profile. They're not stealing your credit card details at that point.

Just FYI when you get into beta you have to provide your gamertag. So there is a list of people that are supposed to be playing. I have no idea if you can get in trouble for this or if you can get the person in trouble (banned?) for doing this.

Just know that there is a list of people who are allowed to be playing and it is easy to deduce who used this bug to get into the beta.

we ran into some issues to, trying again now. Just make sure you don't turn on your Xbox while they are recovering the tag, that might be the problem.
 
Yeah there going to have a list, but there not going to be able to monitor ;). If they were actully checking the gamertag's gowns would not of got in.
