I was reading about a guys predicament in trying to get a song out of his head in this thread and posted some good foreign language songs to try and help. Then I realised, that I want some new foreign language music.
In the English-speaking world, we are very Anglo-centric when it comes to musical taste. Travelling to Europe and Latin America has shown me that much of the rest of the world isnt like this. In this thread, we post good songs in languages other than English* to expose our fellow GAFers to musical delights that they might otherwise not be exposed to.
Now the only rules are that the song has to be mainly in a language other than English* and it has to be good. A good indication would be that the song was popular in its country of origin at some point, but this need not be the case.
Ill start.
Spanish
Juanes - A Dios Le Pido
Aventura - Obsecion
Julio Iglesias - Hey!
Los Iracundos - Te Lo Pido de Rodillas
Marco Antonio Solis - Navidad Sin Ti
Pedro Infante - Copas Tras Copas
Emanuelle, Jose Feliciano & Ruben Blades - Tu Me Haces Falta
Juan Gabriel - Querida
Italian:
Negramaro - Come Sempre
Portuguese:
Kaoma - La Lambada
German:
Die Toten Hosen - Hier Kommt Alex
Christina Steurmer - Mama
Hindi (?):
Hussan - Bhangra Nights
Japanese:
Kyu Sakamoto - Sukiyaki
* Since this is an English language board, foreign is defined as anything dissimilar enough to the Queen's English as to be unrecognisable to the majority of monolingual modern English speakers.
I'll be nice and even allow songs in English-hybrid or English-derived dialects such as Scots and Creole
