That is old for GAF, and it is a Wii trailer with various locations.

This is a new trailer that I had not seen posted here. It is some sort of arabian level that looks like nothing I have seen in unleashed. Springs and rails like crazy! I am actually impressed by this game now.

Are there any big changes you can notice from the TGS videos, to these 2 new trailers?

Quick question: Would one be allowed to posts those age-old scans of this level's Wii version? I do not think screens have been released yet, but it might make for a nice comparison. I know of the no-scans rule, but do not know to what extent it applies.

Ooh, they finally showed off the 360/PS3 version of the Desert level from those Unleashed Wii scans :o

Looks like a mix of Sandopolis and Sky Rail from SA2...except without the constant deaths :lol

The Wii footage actually does look surprisingly good and, if it really offers new levels, I might consider both versions. :P

The only thing I'm not liking is their use of that nasty blur filter. The PS3/360 version uses the high quality motion blur that has become common on more recent hardware, but obviously the Wii could not replicate it. They should simply have avoided using any blur effects altogether as it just looks cheap and messy instead.

Drinky Crow has a "banned" tag without being actually banned, just like you're a "Junior Member" and can still post new threads. I also hope yours is not permanent.

Ugh, it looks like they're making the same mistakes in that arabian-themed level that they've made before. "Rail shunts you to where you have to homing attack enemies over to a tiny floating platform over a huge death pit," that's worked so well for the past 6 games after all.

Something about the Wii version is clicking better, maybe it's the emphasis on chaining actions. I know Dimps is doing a lot of work on that, I wonder just how different the two versions (PS2/Wii and 360/PS3) will be.

Since I only talked about OT stuff I think I should comment on the topic.

After seeing that video I'll definetely try the Wii version sometime down the road (Dimps + still don't have a PS3 or 360). I know the "lol Sonic" mentality is heavy around here and I won't try to defend Sonic games like they're some bastion of technical marvel and entertainment, but I always up having some fun with the ones I play.

For the record, the only "actual ones" I played after SA2 were Secret Rings and Rush, so maybe that has something to do with it.

It worked very well in Sonic Adventure 2, actually.

As with Unleashed, SA2 often appeared as if it were "on rails", so to speak, but in reality, it was still a challenging game if you were going for A rankings. The core mechanics were indeed completely different from any of the 2D Sonic games, but the idea behind perfectly your run was similar.

Agreed. It totally looks like a PS2 game. :lol
Wait, what? I hope you are referring to the Wii version as the 360/PS3 version of the game is absolutely incredible looking.

Not really liking the song they play for this stage compared to the other ones. Eh, at least the OST for this game still interest me.

Uhh... is it just me or does the Wii version just look like a PS2 port with added waggle? D:
No troll intended but it's probably what it is.

I say the Wii version is ground up.

The Wii version os SST looked quite good, and as you can see, the PS2 version is horrendous.

Considering Japan isn't getting the PS2 version, I just don't see why Sega would even start with the PS2 and then port it to the Wii.

If that were the case, I'm positive the Wii version would look terrible with a shiny coat.

That's what it looks like to me. I don't really understand all the comments that say it looks good because it just looks ugly to me. Maybe I've been watching too much 360/PS3 videos or something.

By the way, look back at these pics:

Now that's a lot more colorful than in the trailer.

Really, Sega did a poor job as far as the trailer's video quality is concerned, it's pretty grainy as someone already mentioned, and the colors were unnaturally washed out.

And that screen from Amazon really looks good in terms of graphics.

Maybe the game's just inconsistent in graphical quality.

I'm sure if we saw full quality shots of the current/final? build with the color quality of the above shots, I'm positive they'll look a lot better. Definitely better than the trailer shows. :P

That's why I said to wait until you play the game to see it in full before passing it off as "horrendous", etc.

Edit:

WTF is up with that water?! :lol

They only ever looked right in Sonic Adventure (because of the simplicity of their design and low quality models). These look okay. Certainly better than the ones from Sonic 2006.

Edit: That's water!?

On topic, I don't know but for some reason I'm more interested in Sonic and The Black knight. Perhaps because of its exclusivity, I don't know.

Someday Sonic will have cartoony backgrounds and with stylized textures again, before we had 2D level gameplay and 3D bonus leves, now we have 3D level gameplay with 2D bonus areas.

I still think a Sonic CD artstyle with Wario Land Shake level animations would be a thing of unparalleled beauty. also, call it GAF nitpick mentality creeping up on me, but does anyone else seem to notice a heavy bit of inconsistency with the Wii build's graphics? For every awesome Greece type shot we get, there's at least one shot off (i.e. the trees and grass growing on the wall in the gameplay video... D:).

I'm no graphics whore, but something seems off.

We dont have 2D bonus areas. I dont even think bonus stages are in Unleashed.

Also YAY EGYPT!! Love desert/egyptian themed stages. Sega has messed up trailers before though. There was one Secret Rings trailer uploaded on IGN that had weird wavy lines overlaying the video. I know the Wii version isnt going to look that washed out.

Holy shit! The music is amazing. I am in LOVE with Apotos Daytime!

UK site is better BTW

Seriously, I need this soundtrack. Now. These small tastes will have to suffice. :(

Shamar Night > Shamar Day

For those interested I ripped all the MP3s from the site. That's kosher, right? I've seen threads in the past do this.

http://blazemp3.sepwich.com/musictemp/unleashed/

The "Extended" versions are edits I made where I spliced in bits from TGS/E3/whatever videos to add intros to the songs (the ones on the site are made to loop, so they skip the intros).

I'm also in the process of ripping and re-encoding all the videos on the site in to a more logical format, I might stick'em all together and upload it somewhere (Gametrailers, probably, seeing as they support 16:9 movies).

The main site music sounds like something straight outta Skies of Arcadia.

Chun-nan day and night are great...

Man if Sonic Unleashed isnt fun..wasting amazing graphics and sound...i'm blowing up Sega.

Well to be fair, Sonic 06 (aside from character models) didnt look that good.

EDIT: Good lord...Apotos Daytime = Sonic next gen CD.

Nice to see in Shamar that there are alternate routes so even if you mess up on some homing attack chain (which shouldnt be hard at all with this new target system in place) you wont die. Saw lots of alternate routes that the player just zipped over.

Spagonia at night...man.

There. Took a while longer than I expected because I had to fight with Windows Movie Maker a bit and then I had to fight a little bit more with the Gametrailers uploader, but I've put all the video from the website in to a big 7 minute video.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/278957.html

This is good if you're annoyed by the fact the website, at least on the main page, tries to stream two videos and an MP3, simultaneously. I may have broadband, but give me a break.

The Locations: Shamar (daytime) video worries me. It's something I saw in the trailer for the same level. He keeps missing things he's clearly supposed to hit, flying through the air on momentum without a lot of control.
