The Official Call of Duty:World at War Thread

Game Overview: Enough with modern combat, time to go back to real war! World War! World at War takes us back to global battlefields of 60 years ago, this time set in World War 2. Mostly, the game focuses on some of the last skirmishes of the war. You control a Marine Raider fighting against the Japanese Empire, as well as a soldier of the Red Army, fighting for mother Russia as you fend off the mighty Nazi German army. The campaign consists of 14 levels, split between 8 Marine Raider levels and 6 Red Army levels.

Scattered throughout the campaign mode are Death Cards. These cards are used to activate cheats usable only in the games co-op campaign mode. Now, you don't have to bring a four leaf clover to the top of a mountain during Mursili's eclipse to find these cards. Any time you find a grave of a recently fallen soldier, with their gun sticking up from the ground, a death card will be there. They are almost impossible to miss, and unlock everything from allowing you to revive teammates by shooting them, to exploding headshots. Getting past all of that, once you finish the campaign mode, you unlock zombie mode. I won't spoil anything, but lets just say it's a crap load of fun and playable online with 3 other players.

Since apparently no one is going to do it and I'm curious for impressions.

I'm not going to stick stuff and pictures in here in the OP. If someone wants to do that I'll copy it from your post into the OP.
No offence, but that's a little lazy.

Achievement Unlocked: Lazy ass OP of the Year!
What kind of damn official thread is this? COD 4.5? Wow.

I bought it but haven't opened it yet. Figured I'd play it when no one is on to play Gears 2. Activision won, they made me buy it because they refused to support COD4 after release.

Just cause this thread wasnt made like a viral marketer doesnt mean it fails. Straight and to the point. Screw you haters.

And to actually try to get the thread on track for impressions I'll ask.

1.) Did they fix the spawn issues in the beta?
2.) Does hardcore still have instant respawning?

LOL at all the lazy bitches who couldn't even be bothered to make a thread. :lol
If you're not gonna even put an ounce of effort into making an OFFICIAL THREAD of a game, then don't. Also, you might want to change the thread title for the official thread of the game to make it sound you know...official and not silly fanboy flamebate bullshit?

Last post on this. If a mod wants to lock my thread then let them. If you want to create an awesome OP then go ahead and I'll stick it in the OP.

Otherwise shut your whine hole and discuss the game.

aka COD 4.5

Seriously man.... You're killing me!

If I see one more Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare google alert come through my inbox, that ends up being a COD:WaW article that is only showing up because YOU referenced Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare more times than you mention World At War....

Especially when you're pulling shit out of your ass. Come on man, interview about your game. Not OURS! Call of Duty: World at War can stand on it's own merits, leave ours out of it. Like this gem of a quote from today's article on CVG...

"In the previous Call of Dutys it might take three or four shots from a bolt action rifle," he explained. "We made sure that a single shot centre mass would kill that opponent because that's the expectation of the player."
WTF are you talking about?! "in previous Call of Dutys blah blah blah". First of all, you didn't work on "previous Call of Dutys", so don't talk as if you're down with how / why things were designed the way they were. Second, you're completely fucking wrong.

Bolt Action rifles are one hit kills in every Call of Duty we (Infinity Ward) made!!

I won't compare it to World at War's Bolt Actions, I can't speak to that because I don't work there. Just like you don't work here, so please stop talking about our games.

A rule of thumb I like to use is.... when promoting your game. Promote YOUR game. Don't compare it to another game, or reference what OTHER games did in the past, pitch YOUR game. I mean, you have lots of cool things you could talk about... like Nazi Zombies....

Can you guys please stop interviewing this guy, talk to someone who actually works on the Dev Team at Treyarch and knows what the fuck they're talking about. Not Senior Super Douche Noah Heller from Activision - who apparently has never played the game and doesn't even work at the developer.

Alright, I'm done ranting... but I can't take another google alert of garbage coming through my inbox with bullshit quotes from this guy.

The Official Call of Duty:World at War Thread of Super Douchebags?

I liked the game. Played through the single player so far on Hardened difficulty and going through it again on Veteran. Graphics are good, the missions are fun (though some are just regigged versions of what worked for COD4), the weapons feel solid, the is only one driving sequence (thank God) and enemies hiding in the grass, sniping from the trees and going kamikaze adds enough newness to give it a real feel of something the same yet something different.

If you're a COD4 veteran I recommend playing the game on Hardened difficulty. I still found it a little too easy. Veteran is still veteran.

Thanks for the impressions. Does the game have memorable missions like the sniper mission in COD4? Or the gunship mission? I'm curious about the mission structure.
Also, have you tried the online co-op?

hahaha Stoney, you gonna take that from a Jr?

Great thread. Seriously. These things are made for people to discuss the game...not to ogle random bullshit that you can find anywhere. This is a discussions forum, after all.

With that said - Activision: pls release on Steam. TY.

So wait, the OP didn't even have that nice banner to begin with?

:lol

You lazy bastard. If you weren't going to do a decent job, then why bother?

Anyone with the game care to post some impressions?

Put in a couple hours with friends in MP last night. It ran VERY smooth and that alone keeps things moving along nicely. The levels were very impressive if you ask me and there seems to be a fantastic variety among them. The party system was having some issues last night, it would often drop a member or two right as the matchmaking began but once we got into a game we stayed there with no issues.

Have not touched single player yet.. waiting to play through it with my brother but anything in co-op is better so I am looking forward to it :)

Quick thoughts:

From the short time I spent with Co-Op, it is pretty good. Can get very hectic especially when you have to revive your teammates with bullets flying all over the place. Adding in the challenges in the Co-Op was a smart idea. Watch out for glitches though, I had a teammate that got stuck in a rock and proceeded to finish the level without him. :lol :lol

MP: CoD 4+WWII Theme, which isn't a bad thing since they have a solid foundation to work on. Tanks are fucking bullshit in regular 6v6 (or less) but should work rather well in larger scale battles. Spawn points are well... terrible since the MP engine is based on CoD 4. I personally still have trouble with the hit detection though for some people it's fine for them.

CoD:WaW is a very solid game and should satisfy those people who wants something else to play that is similar to CoD4.

Well the spawns in the beta were far worse than COD 4 but I assume that is something that can be rather easily fixed. It sort of killed the fun though imo the state they were in.

I would hope it is something that is easily fixed since it looks like Treyarch is keeping a close eye on problems and dealing with them asap. My only worry is when they try to fix the spawn points they don't accidently make them worse like how IW did when they made their first patch regarding spawn points.
