Inspired by the debate in the "How many of you haven't played Super Mario Bros. on a real NES system?" thread, I've taken the liberty of creating a Google Map to conduct a survey on the matter.
Instructions!
Do not try to edit the map yourself, as it is open only to a few editors. We will add a placemarker to the map for you.
Rather, post your pronunciation preference from the list below along with the city you lived in between 1985-1996. If you say or have said multiple variations, choose the one you currently use the most. If you did not own either system or did not start playing video games until the 32/64-bit era or later, please note this.
Nintendo 8-bit and 16-bit system name pronunciation poll (Google Maps)
We will add a black-dotted placemark bubble titled with your alias using the colors listed below on a city or school where you were between 1985 and 1996.
If you did not own either system or did not start playing video games until the 32/64-bit era or later, we will use a placemarker bubble WITHOUT a black dot on your current city or school.
Please understand that we will add ONLY ONE placemark to represent you. Thank you.
Blue: Nintendo and Super Nintendo
Red: Nez and Super Nez/Snez
Green: Ness and Super Ness/Sness
Cyan: N.E.S. and S.N.E.S./Super N.E.S.
Yellow: Famicom and Super Famicom (Japan)
Purple: Other (include note)
Example:
Red: Nez and Super Nez/Snez
Denver, CO, USA
Played (or did not play) while current
