The issue of spoiler text being un-viewable came up today in the iPad thread.

Of course, most GAFfers with mobile devices know well of ckohler's wonderful webapp, but with the advent of the iPad I'm sure a number of people would prefer the raw full-size edition of the site... which works great for everything other than spoiler text.

My solution was to write a simple bookmarklet that swaps the background text of spoilers between black and a gray color, which makes them readable.

To install it to your device, you can follow the directions at this page I put up here: http://neowaf.appspot.com/spoiler.html

All the screens are for the iPad, but the process is pretty much identical on iPhone/iPod devices.

Result looks something like this:

Note 1: If this topic totally bewilders you, you can read about bookmarklets on Wikipedia.

Note 2: If you feel particularly appreciative or generous, please check out my recently released iPad app, Textual, which specializes in securing your notes with sound encryption. http://itunes.com/apps/Textual

Note 3: This bookmarklet should really work on just about any vBulletin forum, and if you feel so inclined, feel free to spread the love and tell your other communities about it.

Okay, so when trying to install the bomarklet (thanks Juice!) I ran into my first bit of UI frustration with the device. I don't know how to go to the beginning of a text field to edit stuff there. I had to use Notes as an intermediary to edit the string. Is the something about the cut/copy/paste UI I'm not getting?

Tap and hold inside the textfield to bring up the loupe, then just drag to the left to get to the beginning of the field.

Awesome! Juice, you've got an iPad app in the AppStore? Awesome :lol Once I get an iPad, I'll throw some money your way :lol

Just got an iPad recently and wow do I feel like a noob - it's as if I am relearning everything about computing again.. O_o

Anyway, stumbled across this post, just now and it works like a charm - thanks again Juice!
