In this edition of GAF-Hop, we’ll try our best to expand our horizons and discover new artists, and try to escape the status-quo of the usual hiphop world. It’s being said that hiphop is dead, and it isn’t. Why did this happen? Probably because of the mainstream popularization of certain “artists” that claim (falsely) to be rappers, or advents/saviors of hiphop. Largely a joke, average people make broad and often incorrect assumptions about what rap/hiphop is and is not. There were key players in this, but let’s try to avoid pointing fingers.

Instead, let’s do our best to support real artists who make true efforts to bring in talent and unique abilities to boost creativity, mostly within the underground.

---

So who's keeping things fresh and unique? Who has some creativity to bring to the table? Well, several. The list below is a part of my iTunes playlist; it doesn't have every artist under the sun, but it's a great place to start if you want something new. The artists in bold are some of my recommendations.

You're missing Blu.

As for what I'm listening to...This week has been busy. A lot of CYNE, Emancipator, Blue Scholars, Blu, and Fashawn. I just got FiOS internet so I'm gonna be downloading a shitload of albums in FLAC this week and it will be glorious.

Nice fucking thread yo.

Right now I'm bumping some Big L.

Such a great album.
I've been listening to big l's mvp remixed on the green album. Its short, but oh so sweet. I wonder how big he would have gotten if he hadn't died

Okay so since this is a new thread I'd figure I'd ask. I don't listen to a ton of rap, but my favorite rapper from the last few years is definitely Lupe Fiasco. I love both Food and Liquor and the Cool. What out of the list above would sound similar or fit my like of these albums?

I know in the south, guys like Chamillionaire, Paulwall, Z-ro, slim thug and Pimp-c are pretty big down there. Not particularly my style but they must have a big following for some reason.

Soo this is the new all encompassing hiphop thread then? Allright..

Lately I've been listening to Outkast - Atliens and some other albums they did.. good stuff.

Big Boi's new album is dope as hell, and RPM is great too! Can't wait for J.Cole to drop his debut album.

I asked on the previous thread about this guy but I think no one answered. Good to know he's recommendable, I heard a song on a podcast and loved it.

I saw him for a few minutes at a show here in Regina, SK while waiting for another concert to start in another building. Wish I had seen the whole show, he sounded damned good.

The point of it was to just list a good majority of artists that aren't that well known, not to list every single good one out there, which is why I left out a lot of bigger names.

If any of you check KN, here's the second quarter rap up of all the albums and mixtapes:

(That they got around to listening to)
