Also, I'm looking for someone who could make a good tune for my podcast. I've been using the same music that wasn't really meant for it.
If anyone can hook me up, please tell me.

Firestorm is awesome and a cool poster, but his description makes him sound... eh. :lol

I mean, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Massive Bear Studios, awesome! Senior Game Designer at Ubisoft Vancouver, amazing! A Simon Fraser University student with immense knowledge of Canadian Gaming deals...? Yeah...

No offense. :)

I'll definitely give this a listen, though.

We joked heavily about how the podcast was missing a "Firestorms latest gamedeals" section. Sort of like Cannata-fford a game, we could have Pika-deals :lol

edit: wow, I will never recognize my voice. :lol

I don't know why. I think I screwed up your recording.

Either it's the mic or the huge amount of hall space behind you.

Sorry!

Nah its fine, I've been recorded in some iPhone4 clips and it doesn't sound like me either. I just assume I can't recognize my own voice. :lol

bishoptl should never have a voice. Listening to this was a bad idea. I actually thought it might be someone imitating him until I heard him mention his job at the psych ward. :lol

And I've always seen you as a kid, CrazyMoogle, given your avatar/name, so that was a bit surprising.

Firestorm is awesome and a cool poster, but his description makes him sound... eh.

To be fair, I think he's several years younger than the other guys.

Why would you do that? said:

Haha I tried to give Firestorm an epic title.

In reality, Bish and CrazyMoogle are crazy experienced compared to me and Firestorm.

I'm trying to bring on students on the show, and Firestorm is the first to be a part of my new plans.

This is the most Canadian of all of the podcasts. Must give it a listen.
Definitely trying to get all the big studios here to get on the podcast.

Coming soon should be Big Park, UFG, and quite possibly Victor Lucas down the road.

That's exactly what you sound like to other people.

Don't worry... Or are you secretly hiding some vocal talent?

Awesome and fascinating podcast/interview/discussion. Tim/Bish seems so wise. I was nodding in agreement with everything he was saying. A lot of it was general project management do's and don't's, but it was all sound.

:lol Well, there you go.

Probably. Put me on Weekend Confirmed and I'd talk for a few hours. :lol I've never actually done any game voice-over work though. Maybe some day.

There were a few questions I wish we could have got to from the other thread, so I don't mind answering on GAF if people still have things to ask. The review question would have been great.

Richard Knight. Badass name. It always amazes me at who the people of GAF are behind the avatar.

I've always loved his name too. :)

I remember introducing him to some friends and accidentally said his full name because I thought it was cool.

"So this is Karl, Bob, and Joe. This is Richard Knight."

^///^

Question for bish, I've always been curious how you transitioned to the industry.

Your decision to leave your good paying job and eat shit for a while, was that at all helped along by your Canadian health care?

Part of the reason I'm stuck as a seething boil of hatred beneath a thin membrane of LIES in my current job is because I enjoy being able to go to the gastroenterologist when things start acting up.

I'm planning to interview some cartoonist in November to get some dirt on the funnybook racket. I don't know how much longer I can keep at my current job. My whole god damn life feels like a lie.

Went into the office today and spent the first 10 minutes punching the fuck out of my phone thanks to our stupid voice mail system. It's never a good thing to get to the point where you just punch shit until:

- It breaks
- You injure yourself
- Feels Good Man

Some great advice from given by bishopTL. Definitely worth a listen to if you're interested in getting into the business.

I liked the talk about one of the people (CrazyMoogle was it?) learning about game design from trying to trudge through FF3 entirely in Japanese, and write a FAQ for it. That was something I used to do in my younger days as well, in fact FF2 I wrote a short and simple FAQ on stat-grinding and other odds-and-ends for the Japanese edition (that I got emails about YEARS later :P).

Well, that's a surprise. I didn't know either of them had anything to do with the gaming industry. Oops. Will listen after work though.

I'm gonna give this a listen!

Would love to guest one time too, I'm Canadian and work in the games industry...

Some industry friends and I have long discussed starting a podcast, but have failed to get it off the ground (due mostly to my laziness/lack of time).

Yeah that was me. The guide is still there. :lol It really is a great tool for design training - there's so many details about mechanics that you'll never learn without putting together a guide yourself.

denomes, where you at? (respond by PM if you like)

Yeah. I think a lot of people soon learn to not put their personal emails in FAQs =P I used to get them for a class guide I wrote for an MMO 2 years after I'd quit... I think the game had 3 more worlds since I'd last played.

For anyone who is still checking this out, if you guys got any connections to some music, I still need some to replace my current single track.

Just rip off Red Rider's Lunatic Fringe and call it a day.

I don't think that's... legal...

I kinda wish David Ellis would let me use the theme he had for 4g1up since he doesn't use it anymore... I'm kinda doing the same thing as him. That theme is something like what I want. I'd still prefer The Artery Podcast to have its own identity though.

That's where the remix comes in :) Perhaps you should just do what Engadget does and just feature an 8 bit chip tune remake of a popular song each week. Also, since the 1 Up show is no more, why not just use their old tune? Garage band has a few good tunes to choose from.

Oh yeah, I remember 1up uses Garageband, though don't have a Mac for Garageband.

I tried Mixcraft, but haven't had time to make it happen. Not really the greatest music guy.
