1. PS2 Mobile Suit Gundam: 1 Year War - Bandai - 159,000 (NEW)
2. PS2 Saint Seiya - Bandai - 89,000 (NEW)
3. PS2 Pro Baseball Spirits - Konami - 55,000 (NEW)
4. PS2 Tekken 5 - Namco - 44,000 (218,000)
5. PS2 Winning Eleven 8 Liveware Evolution - Konami - 24,000 (330,000)
6. NDS Touch! Kirby - Nintendo - 20,000 (128,000)
7. PS2 Baldrforce Exe - Alchemist - 12,000 (NEW)
8. PS2 Wild Arms 4th Detonator - SCEI - 10,000 (169,000)
9. PS2 Yamato - Bandai - 9,000 (NEW)
10. PS2 WRC4 - Spike - 9,000 (NEW)

Wipeout Pure sold 7k+, Electroplankton around 5k.
Meteos at #50, sold about 2k, so it's still going :D
Trizeal sold about 2k as well.

Hardware comes tomorrow, but I've read on 2ch that both the PSP and DS dropped in sales this week, both around the 29,000 mark, with DS narrowly in the lead.

"Long legs" and Japan sales don't go together most of the time.

1st week sales (3 days of retail) usually equal about 50-70% of total sales in a feasible time (i.e 1 year)

There are exceptions obviously, but unlike NA where games that have been released even back in 2001 still hit 5,000-10,000 a month (DMC1 for instance), it's not the norm there.

The GBA Kirby game sold 430k in 2004, having sold 188k in its first week.
Who says games can't have legs?

SP sold about 10k this week.

Gundam sales really depend on the game. The brainless ones tend to sell well (300k+), but anything that hardcore games appreciate tend to be sub 200k in the first week.

no one else has mentione that 8-10 place only sold 10k or less in a week that's pretty bad.. especially for 9th and 10th game considering they're new.

triangle service is probably fucked, huh? too bad, cos trizeal gets really good about three levels in. SHOOTING LOVE! NO BLUFF! :(

It's so so.
You have to realise that the weeks after typical Japan spikes are always bad.
The few weeks before this were the spring holidays for schoolkids and students in Japan, so they were a good time for sales. There's bound to be a rebound after that.

It's just hitting the slow part of the year. Bingo the Clowno on GameFAQs used to do weekly Dengeki updates in 2002, and around this time, there'd be fewer and fewer games at 10k or above.

How much have previous Gundam games sold in their first week, OOC?

The best first week sales for one is Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon at 348,242, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Oranai Ashita e is last with 138,359.

That's sarcasm right?!

Games don't really sell well after their 1st month in Japan, unlike they do (for most decent tiles in NA).

But sure, technically they 'are' getting closer to that 500 mark.

Lots of games in Japan have long legs. Mario Party, Kirby, Wario Ware, etc...

Rats! No More SFN! Isn't there sometimes a top 20 o.o??

Shining Force Neo is on Dengeki's #9, with Yamato at #10 and WRC4 at #12... so based on that I would say that SFN probably did about 8000-9000 this week.

They predicted 1 million for 1 year war!

From what I've read, 1 year war bombed hard and has dropped to 2800 yen with the calendar. It is around HK$220 in Hong Kong.

Heh ! Enthusia had dropped from HK$370 on day one to the current HK$190, around half price.

Price drop on some games are really crazy these days.

Supposedly there Gundam shipped 450,000 so these sales are definitely poor. Also according to Dengeki, there were 108,000 hardware units sold. So I'd guess around 30K for the DS and PSP and PS2 and 10K for the GBA with the rest bringing up the rear.

Game Boy games (and Nintendo games in particular) tend to be slow burners, selling lower but more consistant amounts over a longer stretch. Most PS2 games get 60-70% of total sales 1st week while GBA stuff usually nets only 20-40%.

PSP numbers have dropped a ton since a month ago. What gives?

This is now 3 weeks in a row with the DS ahead. Will this trend continue or is the PSP going to take the lead again? News at 11.

Oh snap the shit is about to hit teh fan! *pulls up a chair and grabs some popcorn*

So what happens when the PSP and DS numbers drop below 15-20k? GBA SP isn't going back up and GBA is only surviving at an xbox level. Is the handheld market, which has been one of the largest markets for the past years, just going to die in Japan?

Next Week PSP will probably beat the DS, though when Nintendogs and Pink DS come out...
