And they were typically too low leading to a lot of people just getting 0 points for it even if they weren't a huge amount away in absolute terms. Lower values make small absolute differences = large percentage differences. That's a large part of why PS2 was taken out in early 2010, as well.

This came up real clearly back when we did software predictions. PS3 Lost Planet comes to mind. I think it sold < 10K when we predicted for it. Almost no one got any points for that game. It leads to wanting to predict for higher (in absolute terms) values, so that it's more likely to actually get points for the system. Then NPD did their thing, and we weren't getting the numbers, anyways.
