CD Projekt teases The Witcher 2 "PC version 2.0" (GC 2011) [Release Sep 29th. Free]

Was discussed in the Witcher 2 thread. I'm hoping at the very least shadows get revamped. The dithering is terrible. DX11 feature would be sweet as well.

A complete rebalance of the game would be awesome as well. It gets way too easy near the end.

And you know, more content is always welcome.

I thought this was referring to a Witcher remake with 2's engine... I wouldn't mind that.

I also wouldn't mind an expansion or two for TW2.

Are these the motherfuckers who ported SR2 to pc?

If yes, I have zero interest in anything they say or are part of.

The development house that did the port belonged to CD Project I believe but they were sold off. Red had nothing to do with the port.

Ok.

I don't have interest in this game but just wanted to make that post due to my anger at SR2.

It'd be neat if they added something to show you how to actually play the game. The "tutorial" was shit and I can't figure out how to not die 8 times to every enemy encounter.

They mine pretty much the entire game for that music video, so if you're concerned with spoilers and such, maybe don't watch.

So many awesome moments, though. All of the trailers for W2 have been amazing.

No. That's a huge part of the gameplay.
That's faithful to the Witcher lore, but unless recent patches have addressed the issue, potions counted down during cutscenes, and there are certain cinematic sequences that last longer than quite a few potions - effectively wasting the efforts of a player who anticipates an encounter and prepares with potions accordingly. The only solution to this is to skip cinematics or to mod and increase the duration of potions.

I'm sure there could be a way to freeze the potion's duration cutscenes. Being able to use them during combat and having 'instant heals' would take away one of Witcher's biggest unique features.

combat in witcher 2 sucks ;_;
Did you and I play two different games? The combat is fine.

Yeah, it's like one step below Arkham Asylum, so above just about every action game out there.

It's not remotely close to as good as Arkham Asylum. That being said I really enjoyed Witcher 2.

The main problem with the potion mechanic in Witcher 2 is when you get an unexpected (mini)boss and you either have to reload a save or try to soldier on without any potions. Not to mention the places where they string those together, like the ending of Act 1.

It's always possible to get through without potions, though. Just a bit tougher.

True, but alchemy is a big part of the combat and not being able to use potions locks you out of a 1/3rd of it.

No sense in starting the game now then. Waiting for 2.0

hahahaha! You suckers played with pop-in and dithered shadows!

It worked fine in Witcher 1, I felt. In fact, Hard difficulty was designed around constantly guzzling down a potion or two.

If CDPR is going to rebalance parts of the game, I'd like them to reach a compromise between the two extremes. At the moment, potions are functional in W2, but there are certain situations (long cutscenes, unpredictable encounters) where the non-combat usage of potions can be frustrating.

wait, AA had good combat? i thought it was rather silly.

If by silly you mean best-in-class, yes.

I honestly thought AA's combat was...

...let me say it... casual.

All you really did was time the attack and parry buttons over and over again. It looked nice, but I didn't really feel like I was doing much.

Given that I never bothered going beyond the prologue really, I think we're in the same boat.

I hope they adjust the speed of the combat. Probably the biggest thing that turned me off in what I played compared to TW1.

I'm expecting this to coincide with the major DLC. I'm still early in my Roach playthrough, but I'm fucking ready for some more Witcher. I want the new DLC/expansion to be MEATY, please.

Best game of the year this far and the best RPG I've played in years...

My computer is quite decent and have been able to max most of the new PC games coming out, but I couldn't do that in Witcher 2. It still looked astonishing and seeing the enhanced version makes my mind blown. I bet my computer would blow up too trying to max it.

Felt the same way. I guess this won't be a popular opinion, but I liked Witcher 2's combat much much much MUCH more than AA's.

AA's combat was shit and Witcher 2's is much better. One of the big reasons for that is that the enemies in Witcher 2 don't have some sort of honor code about not ganging up on you.

Couldn't have said it better. I always felt that I was in a fight club or something, where I was fighting 1 guy with a bunch of people spectating in a circle.
