Wisdom Teeth, DAMN YOU.

Top right one came in several months ago, top left one came in 4 days ago and gave me a nice mouth ulcer and everytime I chew it bites the gum.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.

Yes I saw a dentist.

No I don't have money to get the teeth removed atm.

Bottom ones also haven't showed up yet, any moment now...

Currently using icecream to soothe the pain.

Have already been dealing with it on the right side, the pain is real issue here. Can't talk, can't eat, can't drink without pain.
 
I was supposed to make an appointment to take out all my wisdom teeth in June, but he prescribed me some antibiotics. And I took them for a week, and it hasn't hurt since then

I should really remake that appointment and take them out...
 
I got mine taken out when I was in Grade 10. They came in straight enough the dentist could just pop them out but crooked enough that I bit my cheek every time I ate. >_<

My swelling was gone the next day, I didn't bruise and I got them done on a Friday and went to school on Monday.
 
I have two impacted and two bombed out wisdom teeth right now, and no dentist wants to work on me without putting me under general because they think I'm going to go into a seizure if they just use IV sedation. Which makes it hells of expensive to do and I have no insurance and no insurance company around here would cover the operation anyway.

I'm pretty much looking at spending most of my next contract payment on my stupid teeth.

Couldn't have done anything about it either, the back two imploded because the teeth in front of them didn't fall out and give way, and the top ones apparently should have been spotted when I was younger but the dentist didn't point them out or try to pull them.

Imagine going through tons of consultations in a month, having to spend money just to be seen each time, having a super gag reflex and gagging even on their mirror they're using to check your teeth, you finally get on the chair and are all "finally, relief from the pain!" only to have the dentist abort the appointment because he suddenly decided that he was only going to put you under half as much and you gagged when they went to set up your mouth for the extractions.

Well, it's not my wisdom teeth, but on the subject of horrific mouth pain: I got a gum graft a few days ago, where they cut out some of the roof of your mouth and graft it onto your receeding gum line, and holy shit my mouth hurts. I got some sort of viral thing around the stitches on the roof of my mouth and I can't eat anything, or drink anything hot or cold without extreme pain. I've been living on nothing but room temperture Ensure and jello for two days now.

There's basically 3 outcomes:

1) You don't have wisdom teeth at all

2) they come in and cause no problems because the teeth in front of them fall out (as they used to do)

3) Due to advances in tooth care, all the molars in front of the wisdom teeth remain into adulthood, so your jaw runs out of space and the wisdom teeth are all AHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU

Got all four of mine removed at once. 2 were impacted and it really isnt that big of a deal. The most annoying part was eating cautiously for about a week to avoid a dry socket.
 
I have two sets of wisdom teeth according to my xrays, the last ones came through the gums a few years back (I'm 29) and I never had any problems with them.

My younger brother had to have his removed a few years ago.
 
I got mine removed when I was 34. They all came in in different directions, but didn't cause me any problems until one broke. Then I got all four cut out, couldn't just pull them.

Surgeon gave me some IV that didn't put me asleep but caused short term memory loss. Only have bits of memory from that day. Spent a day packing gauze in my mouth to stop the blood flow.
 
Had my last two (upper and lower leftside) taken out yesterday. Had no problems with the earlier two, but now on the upper left a blood clot the size of a grape formed. It was so big that every little movement caused it to bleed, and so after each time I took a nap I had to drool out (spitting is a no-no early on) these congealed bits of blood. Long, yummy stripes that slithered down the drain, tasty. Swallowed so much blood that I was very pale and if I stood up for more than a few minutes, I started feeling nauseous. Didn't feel very hungry either luckily so for 24 hours it was a blood diet for me. :lol

The actual operation isn't that bad, really. Quit being a pussy and just get the local anesthetic, it's all you need; it's the aftercare that is much more annoying. Everyone should experience a set of pliers yanking a tooth from their mouth once in their lifetime, those scraping and crunching sounds are really something.

It's just from brushing my teeth too hard for years. I was brushing so hard it made my gums receed so low that they couldn't suppport the teeth any more.
 
every dentist I've had for my adult life has wanted to remove my wisdom teeth. Ironically, they are perfect. I finally asked my current dentist a few weeks ago why everyone tries to take my wisdom teeth and he replies with "it's really rare for an adult mouth to have absoilutely no down side to having their wisdom teeth. but yours came in straight and you have plenty of room in there so there's no reason to take them. Most doctors just figure you don't need them and to avoid troubles later on." He then commented "you have been blessed with really great teeth"

My wisdom teeth caused me agony to put it mildly. At first it started off as an irritating feeling that changed into a slight soreness. Then it eventually evolved into a nagging pain that would persist any time I ate anything. Eventually i avoided foods that tend to get stuck between your teeth like popcorn, candy, or meat. Started eating on one side of my mouth because the other side was just too painful to chew on. And then, the other three started to come in.... Needless to say, as soon as i had the money to do so, i had all four of those things removed at once. The recovery from the removal took about a week. 2-3 days to stop the bleeding completely and another 3-4 for the soreness to go away as well.

Sounds like what my dentist said when I was a kid, I was supposed to get braces at one point too but they straightened out.
 
Had all 4 removed at age 28. Best dental move I ever made!

Fuck those wisdom teeth! So worthless, and only cause problems later in your life.

idk lol. but i chew on hard things a lot. my teeth are perfectly straight. don't need braces or anything lol.

Ask your doctor to Rx you viscous lidocaine. Swish and spit. Will make a huge difference.

A lot of people unwittingly do this at various degrees. You really don't have to use much force at all when brushing, flossing is much more effective at getting the gunk away.
 
Got my three (not four in there for some reason) out when I was around 15/16. Never looked back. It was a pretty awful three days or so, but glad I didn't have to mess with them later in life.


My brother wasn't as fortunate. He had three removed as well, because that's all that showed up in his xrays as being in his mouth. However, several years later, he would mention to me that he thought he felt a tooth coming out in the back of his mouth. He mentioned it to the dentist and they told him it was nothing. He eventually went to another place for a second opinion, and it turned out he had a magic fourth tooth. I don't know how, but it was.

So, yeah, he got to have surgery twice. Felt bad for him.

My wisdom teeth came in and caused no issues. Don't remember any extra teeth falling out though. Only the tops ones ever came in.
 
OP, how old are you?

I'm 22 and haven't had my wisdom teeth come in at all...I'm hoping they don't. If I'm in the clear at 22, should I be good? Or do I still need to worry?
 
Do any of you guys who had your WT's removed notice a slight permanent change to your facial appearance, mainly in the cheeks and jawline?

EDIT - I think by 25. If you have impacted wisdom's they might not come in, but it will cause other problems.

Must be a hereditary thing or bad genes since I never had mined removed nor have any bad teeth grow under my gums or some crap.

I had my two left come in and it would cause me to chew on my inner cheek, but other then that they didn't hurt at all. Got all 4 removed about 2 months ago and everything went fine. :)

This horrifies me because my dentist told me a few weeks ago that I need a gum graft.

The area of my gum that's worn away is only as big as one of my smallest teeth on the bottom row, so I'm hoping I won't have to get much tissue cut away. Still, with my luck, I'll end up with an infection like yours.
