Square Enix and Eidos’ ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ (-46%) has held off Ubisoft’s new release ‘Driver: San Francisco’ despite nearly halving in sales from last week’s opening gambit to claim a second week at No1.

Just like Deus Ex, it’s another rejuvenation of a franchise having been over four years since the last iteration in the Driver series (Driver 76 on PSP and Driver: Parallel Lines on Wii and PC were both released in 2007) with the Xbox 360 just ahead of the PS3 taking 53% of the share to PS3’s 46%. 505 Games’ two titles, ‘Zumba Fitness’ ( -19%) and ‘Rugby World Cup 2011’ (-30%), continue to stick together, both down a place at No3 and No4 respectively.

Also shuffling down a place is Disney’s ‘Lego Pirates of the Caribbean’ (-16%) at No5 with EA’s new entry, American football title ‘Madden NFL 12’, charging in at No6. Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ (+3%) is at No7 with Disney’s ‘Cars 2’ (-9%) following behind at No8. EA round of the top ten with ‘FIFA 11’ (-6%) at No9 and ‘The Sims 3’ (+3%) at No10. The only other new entry to make it into the Top 40 this week is Codemasters’ ‘Bodycount’ at No36.

Xenoblade only dropped 7 places? Inazuma went up 10? Is...is this real life?

Lets see Zumba Fitness is down 19% (<21870 units) and Driver 360 at 53% is even less. That means Driver SF sold less than 45000 copies. This is a little bit of a bomb for a high budget title. Good for me I will pick it up at under €20 in a few weeks.

21 (14) WII Xenoblade Chronicles (Nintendo)

That's seriously fucking impressive considering that the only version of the game available is the expensive collector's edition version that comes with the Red CC Pro.

NOE fucked up big time with the undershipment. GET SOME MORE FUCKING COPIES OUT THERE ALREADY!!!

20 (30) NDS Inazuma Eleven (Nintendo)

And just like most Nintendo published games, the game starts off selling slow and slowly rises upwards as word of mouth and advertising kick in.

Who could blame them. With the crappy sales of JRPGs everywhere they probably expected the first shipment to last for quite some time.

Wow. 3 weeks in the charts for Xenoblade.

EDIT: Damn, Xenoblade is going for £50 on ebay for the standard and up to £100 for the collectors.

Zeouterlimits said:
Yeah, that's the real story here, that's how Xeno is so high with such little (and expensive) stock.
Strange isn't it, sales should be going up as we move towards the fall. Also that PS3 price drop seems to have done nothing whatsoever.

Yeah true. Sales all round are pretty slow right now. Hopefully it should pick up this month as we've got some high profile titles releasing (Gears 3, Starfox 64 3D etc)

July sales were down 20% across the board compared to last year and it seems sales continue to slide.

What came out last September over here?

Edit: From what I can see we got Halo Reach, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future and Fifa 11 as far as major titles go.

September 2011 has Gears of War 3, Starfox 64 3D, Rage, Fifa 12, ICO Collection, Pro Evo 12, and Xmen Destiny.

Seems like it should at least be a match for total sales.

Extended recession kick-in for entertainment? Helped slightly by a move towards Android/iOS/web for quick disposable entertainment?
Feel like we've been on a slow-incline downwards for a long time.

What is going to bomb hardest this week?

Resistance, Space Marine, Dead Island or StarFox?

Dead Island probably get all formats no.1 and the other 3 will get a couple of k.

Out of these three, I predict, StarFox will seems to be the biggest bomb, but it will have sold a respectable number after a few months (like most Nintendo titles). Spacemarine is going to bomb hard and will sell for 15GPB after 2-3 weeks. Dead Island will underperform but it will break even after some aggressive Steam sales. Resistance will sell less than the previous entries.

Space Marine, it will bomb HARD, and it will most probably be a loss of gamers, since I believe it will turn out a good game.

I didn't even realise Star Fox was coming out... so that. Resistance ads have been bombarding TVs pretty hard, I expect that'll do okay.

Bodycount, more like Bombacount.

so is NOA still "keeping an eye" on European Xenoblade sales?
Maybe but they are probably not keeping an eye on the sell through/stock depletion so will mistake the lowering sales as lack of interest rather than stock shortage due to being a surprise (to GAME Group and retail*) seller.

I don't know why I get a dreadful feeling of being condemend. I can see Star Fox bombing and/or not drawing in the new fans killing that franchise and Xenoblades sales not recovering when stock does.

*-Supermarkets didn't even stock it.

Great to see that Inazuma has a notable presence.
The numbers are probably a far cry from what happened in FIGS (and might stay that way) but well, the animertisement only recently debuted (while in FIGS it had been going for a few months, right) and on a subscription only channel at that.

Its still doing better than I expected. Now the question is has it done better than it would have released back at the original date (I wonder how many people just lost interest in the wait oh and the Xenoblade time sink factor too...)

I suspect Resistance 3 will just kill off any new entries in the Series. Also, i expect lot of bombas next week.

As far as I kow, the Cartoon haven't even been aired yeet, so that will get this title a really good sales.

The expectations are certainly not very high, but I think it's still doing pretty well for itself. It currently is the best selling DS game after all. And even though that is clearly not a very high benchmark to beat, it should be enough to justify the release of future games. And that's really all I care about.
And let's see what legs it'll have. The first week->second week bump is already promising and seeing how it stayed in the Italian and Spanish charts for many months I can see it being quite successful in the long run. Maybe it could even turn into a semi-popular christmas present for kids when Nintendo handles the marketing well.

Aaanyway, I just hope we get the sequels. :p

Hang in there Xenoblade!!!

With such low overall numbers the position doesn't mean much. According to BKK calculations, Xenoblade sold between 11100 and 13700 copies in three (3) weeks. NoE must have shipped only 15-20k copies of what is the best JPRG of the generation. :p

To the UK, you mean. Nevertheless, their first shipment was indeed too small pretty much across the continent. Let's hope they can rectify this in a timely manner.
