Still Alive
Anything from eavesdropping to taking a picture without someone's knowledge? I can't say i've even done the latter, but tonight i'm lending my room to my sisters friend (who is great looking mid twenties), with the bed being directly in front of my laptop. It would be so easy to record everything overnight. Now I probably won't do this, but as you can tell it's obviously crossed my mind and it was somewhat hard to resist. It's just so easy, almost guaranteed no repercussions (other than my conscience). How do you stop yourself when it's that easy, with basically zero risk involved? Have you ever been in a similar situation?

rest assured, i'm not going to do it

[edit] Since apparently no one read the spoiler, i'll make it clearer: I didn't do it and wouldn't do it. It's just that the placement of my desk and bed is in such a perfect position where it crossed my mind. And to do some cross posting;

I probably shouldn't have worded this so creeper-like, but my point was how in this digital age it's getting too easy. I mean, there are dedicated sites that harbor up skirt pics and stuff of that sort. Think about the Google Glasses future where everyone can record anything without you necessarily knowing, how can your conscience outweigh something like that, when it gets that easy to just take a pic of a pretty girl across the aisle, or something.

People let me in their houses to do DSL installs all the time. They just tell me they'll leave the door unlocked. I respect everyone's privacy. The only thing I do is always look in the fridge. Tells a lot about a person.

I stalk people on facebook all the time.

I've snooped around my brothers closet too.But don't tell him that - he'd be upset.

About a year ago I had a mutual friend go on my ex's Facebook page and look for statuses that might indicate how she was doing.

It was not a satisfying experience, and on top of that I still feel kind of bad about it. I would not recommend it.

It's a temptation I've been known to succumb to from time to time.

But I've never even contemplated setting up a hidden camera. Dude I used to know/live with did that with every girl he banged.. then showed tons of people. Dumbass got what was coming to him eventually.

What happened to him?

Because start with yourself to get rid of the fucking creeps of this world. God.

What happened to him?

He showed too many people; one of the girls found out.

Several guys showed up at his house with bats.. they threatened him.

He ended up handing over his entire personal collection of tapes to these dues.. LOL.. the girl in question was only on maybe 1 of the dozen or so he gave up.. which included lots of porn that he'd recorded with his girlfriend that wasn't "hidden camera" porn.

After they left, he realized he'd just given some random dudes an epic crap-ton of porn of himself. No clue if they actually destroyed it, or what was done with it.

LOL.. the dudes were morons though.. showing up at his house like that. Eventually some other friends of ours caught up with those guys, and knocked them around a little bit too.

All in all a situation of much debauchery.

Yeah, I wouldn't actually do it but the placement of my desk is literally right in front of my bed, so it crossed my mind as it's so easy. But yeah, took my laptop to another room anyway.

I remember when I was about 12 or 13 at a friends house and his older sister was in her room, but I was alone for a bit since he went outside or something while I watched TV. Her door nob was nonexistent (in retrospect they weren't that well off I guess), just a small hole in the door with some ripped up ductape or something partly covering it. Anyway I remember walking to the bathroom and stopping when I start hearing some shuffling in her room. So I go over and looked in, and I couldn't make out much other than that she was mostly nude (might've been wearing a bra or something, don't remember). I was fixated watching her bare legs move around in the limited viewing area I had, until I heard my friend come back in.

I'm sure similar instances happen to most young boys, though. At that point it's more to do with curiosity I suppose.

Got what was coming to him, wtf. What kind of idiot does that and then brags about it too.

... That isn't exactly respecting ones privacy, unless they flat out tell you "Help yourself to anything in the fridge"... Just saying.

A good way to celebrate getting your thread posting privileges back :p
Nah, that was the other thread. :p

An insecure one who had a lot more trouble with women than he tried to portrayed to his guy friends.

With a little "ugly duckling" syndrome thrown in, which never really helps.

A lot of late blooming guys who spent most of their life wanting to be "ladies men," and then suddenly have at least SOME capability to be ladies men post-teenage years have pretty big chips on their shoulders as far as wanting all guys to know they can get laid.

No I don't think I have or would. I have had girlfriends who did or friends who did.
I found a usb camera for filming my girlfriend and I have sex she had hid ontop of her DVD player and beside the cases. I had never said I wasn't into that but for some reason she kept it secret. So I turned it on and recording me saying "Hi hon!" Into it.

She must not have watched the stuff much it took her like 3 weeks to find it. It was all cool. Her own embarrassment over being turned on by that stuff overrode her thoughts about our privacy. We discussed it and worked it out.

I had a guy friend who I caught listening to my telephone calls on our second handset. I think he must have assumed the calls were more interesting that us deciding where we were going to go eat that night.

EDIT: Crap I actually did do something on accident once. I was going to the bathroom at my girlfriends parents house and it was taking a long damn time(needed more fiber) so I looked for something to read. A large book of some kind was on the counter. I grabbed it thinking it was a novel or something.

I swear to shit it was a novel or erotic fantasy or something and it was called "Ball Handlers" and it was guy on guy stuff. I quickly put it down finished my stuff and left the room. I never found out who's book that was. The moms or the dads but I actually have a suspicious it was the moms. She was a bit on the share love side of things. We had some interesting discussions and it just seemed more her thing than his.

When I was about 13 one of my mom's best friends came to our house for the first time. She brought her son who was around my age, and her oldest daughter came too - she was like 19.. Very tall, big breasts, amazing smile/teeth, long black haired Latina. I spent a decent amount of time playing basketball with her brother, but I'd keep going back into the house to steal glances at her; I overheard her say she thought we had a pool (we didn't), and had brought her bikini.

I kept asking her brother various questions about her, and luckily he didn't seem to realize I liked her. He said she was super mean to him, had a one year old baby who cried all the time, and smoked. Yet even that didn't convince me that she wasn't the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I finally got a chance to talk to her alone on the deck in the backyard, and blurted out the first thing that came to my mind: "do you read comic books?" She looked at me kind of disappointed and said "uh no." Annihilated, I muttered "oh well some are pretty cool but others are for kids..." before walking out the house. I realized I had fucked up. Before, she MAYBE saw me as an interesting kid who didn't talk much, and just maybe was mature beyond his years. Now I was a fool in her eyes.

Later that evening my mom went walking around the neighborhood with her friend, and asked the sister to watch over us for awhile (my dad was at work). A few minutes later I walked onto the deck and saw her wearing a bikini top and short shorts, sleeping in one of the chairs. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks: she wasn't wearing underwear. To this day I don't know how or why this revelation came to me, it just did. I went into the house and found the handbag (it wasn't her purse!) she brought. I looked around, made sure her brothers nor my brothers were anywhere to be seen, then I opened the bag. There was a blue thong in the bag, and a bikini bottom. I touched the bikini bottom but was too afraid to touch the thong.

I then decided I wanted to see it. I needed something to drop on the deck, so I could casually pick it up and steal a glance down there and hope for gold. I found the perfect alibi: a piece of bread. It was light enough to not make noise when dropped on the deck, and if she woke up I could pretend like I was about to feed the birds (we had a bird feeder a few feet away from the deck). I went out, bread clutched in my hand, and dropped it with authority. But before I could kneel down she woke up. We looked at each other, and I could tell she knew something was up; the shock and confusion on my face must have been obvious, even though I tried to play it cool. She gave me a smirk, got up, patted me on the head, and walked into the house. My mom and her friend arrived shortly after, everyone said their goodbyes and they left.

I never saw her again.

WTF WTF WTF.

First WTF. Your a full member again ?
Second WTF. Oh hell no I would never think about that. Don't do it.
Third WTF. Why oh why are you full member... I don't..

I do it all the time. I constantly take pictures of ppl and tweet about them or send them to my friends to laugh at bad clothes, terrible hairdos, etc.

You should get one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrfAWHHVz50

No, Sentry, just don't.

Apropos of nothing, is your sister or her friend on your Facebook?
Bahaha, you bastard. But no, she's not. :p Come to think of it MBP's have a green LED that light up next to the camera when in use, so it wouldn't be wise all around. But seriously, wouldn't do it either way.

I'm actually offended any of you would think otherwise!
i really should've made it clearer in my op, lol

actually there's a program so when you record the green light don't light up.

Wait why Am I even saying this... :/

I thought the light is supposed to be wired in series with the power in the camera on the Macs, so one cannot be on without the other. That's how they caught those asshole school officials in the US who were spying on the teenagers who used the school board MacBooks at home.

Pretty sure you're wrong, I remember a story about that school who landed out older Apple laptops and ended up spying on their students at home. I seem to remember they were older MacBooks.

But yeah, the LED indicator is probably hardwired (and for good reason).

Bah, didn't even see your post. Yeah, that's the story. Didn't know it's how they got caught, though.

But no I've never done something like that OP, don't think I'll ever do it but who knows how twisted future me is.

Congratulations on escaping the bottomless pit that comes with being junior'd.

one of my buddies takes ADD medication for legitimate reasons.

and was talking to a group of engineers at school a year behind me and got talking to one of them about test preparation. and the younger engineer asked if i took anything to help make me focus, and he blurted out to my buddy asking for the add medication. and my friend thinks i told him.

Not beyond what my job requires.

The OP's example reminds me why I always check for cameras lol.
They would just catch me wathing TV in my bloomers anyway :(

About 20 years ago when the org I was working for first got an email system up and running, I realized that a lot of my co-workers didn't customize their password and just used the standard one so I used to trying logging in with their usernames. Yes I feel shame for this and would never go it again. I don't recall ever seeing anything sensitive, at least.

Have you ever had to clean someone's computer of spyware, and decided to check their internet history for porn? I've done this before as well, but it's sort of part of the job

Shit, i've done this innumerable times with my younger cousins. Most of the time they're clean.

Also, Stalker you're gonna have to give us more than that. ;b

Empathy. How would you feel if someone invaded your privacy? Not pleasant, I imagine.
Yeah, that's what it comes down to ultimately. But it won't stop people from being able to take pictures with their mind with that kind of tech (like google glasses).
