Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, is pleased to confirm that the Resident Evil™ 6 experience will be further enhanced with the release of new modes and additional content following the launch of this highly anticipated title on home consoles this October 2.

Available as downloadable content, three new gameplay modes will expand on the multiplayer elements available in the retail version and deliver new and exciting ways to enjoy the world of Resident Evil 6.

Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins.

In Predator Mode, one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players. The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.

Choosing the human side in Siege Mode will see players protecting a single NPC, while as a member of the enemy team, players will need to eliminate that same NPC. If the NPC is still alive at the end of the time period, the human team win.

Survivors, Predator and Siege modes will all support up to six players online and be played using maps from Mercenaries Mode.

Players will be able to track their accomplishments in these three modes alongside their main campaign statistics and compare their performance with others by registering on Resident Evil.Net, the free online service that launches alongside Resident Evil 6.

Further post-launch downloadable content for Resident Evil 6 will include additional maps for Mercenaries, which can in turn then be used as maps for Survivors, Predator and Siege modes, plus other items yet to be announced.

PR just dropped in my inbox. Apparently 360 exclusive at first, then will come to PS3 later.

TL;DR

Survivors Mode: Get killed, respawn as enemy character and take down human characters to regain your human form. Last character / team wins.

Predator Mode: One player is Ustanak, others must try to eliminate him.

Siege Mode: Human players must protect an NPC, while opposing team will attempt to eliminate them.

ALL MODES have six player support. Maps are used from Mercenaries mode.

So I guess I'll be waiting for the Gold edition then.

(if there's any single player dlc, I don't care much for multi)

I don't mean to alarm anyone but we found mentions of these modes in the demo code (well, Dusk Golem did).

So the hooks were definitely there - whether the mode is complete or not is another story.

MP DLC for Resident Evil, such a perfect fit. It worked so well in RE5.

edit:
All the dlc have their own development cost mumbo jumbo blah blah blah blah. W/e.

I like the way Ron Gilbert put it in an interview with RPS today:
I think DLC works for certain types of games,” he explained. “If I’m playing a first-person shooter, being able to buy map packs is fine. But the issue I have with a lot of DLC is more of a marketing thing. The whole game is planned out – including all the DLC. And for the most part, the developers are working on the DLC at the same time as the rest of the game. And then, it’s just more of this marketing thing to want to pull the DLC out and sell it separately. And I’m just more like, ‘No, make the game you should be making.’ That should be the game. And then, if there’s something extra you can do that really dovetails into it nicely – like map packs – then do DLC. But pre-planning it all and then acting like it’s new – that’s my problem with DLC.

To be fair, RE6's control scheme is much better suited for something like this.

From the original Demo Files Hacking thread which was posted back on the 8th of July.

Multiplayer Modes

Besides the game's known Mercenaries Mode, there were four other multiplayer modes uncovered in the demo files:

Slayers: A versus mode that was included in Resident Evil 5's DLC. This mode is back, and seems to feature more depth, including healing items, these armor items called frames, and some move you can do nicknamed 'The Boisterous Dance'. When performing this, it seems if done without any intervention you will restore a bit of your health with no items. However, while doing it you're a sitting duck and will not recover health if attacked while doing it. All characters also seem to start weaponless and must find weapons around the map.

Last Stand: Not much is known about this mode, but its title does suggest it may be a survival-mode.

Siege: While nothing is set in stone about this mode, information pertaining to it may have been discovered in the demo files. It seems this mode involves 'capturing' points by staying in a circle area for a certain amount of time. It sounds like there are two teams who are fighting over multiple 'control points'. During the game, multiple randomized events happen, from enemy swarms, to the appearance of a 'death circle' that seems to circulate around the arena. There is also a hint at vehicle usage during this mode.

Agent Predator: This mode seems to be an 8-player mode, and that one player may play as the monster chasing after Jake, Ustanak. Besides that, not much else is known.

However, in recent texture rips, 10 maps for the multiplayer mode were uncovered. It is uncertain if these are the only maps, maps just for Mercenaries mode, or just a partial listing. Three of the maps are known as pre-order DLC, though.

Is it on disc?

either case, they'll charge you for that. do we feel better if they don't put them on disc?

I like this haha >>>

Survivors Mode: Get killed, respawn as enemy character and take down human characters to regain your human form. Last character / team wins.

Hope they've learned their lesson and won't do this. Capcom has gotten enough shit lately.
I still don't understand why it matters though. They are still telling you now, before release that it will be available. It already exists somewhere at this very moment, pre-launch. Why does it matter if it's on a disc or sitting on a Capcom computer until the game ships?

The only difference I see is that without it being on disc, you have to download a larger file than normal, and the MK scenario.

Apparently this game isn't substantial enough and it should all be included.

To be fair if the game was done almost a month before release then what else would they be spending their time on?

Do people forget that there is time between when a game goes gold and when it releases?

I thought they said they weren't going to do this again, after Dragon's Dogma on disc dlc? I will wait anyways for the inevitable gold edition. Hopefully a better cover art, that plain 6 is pretty ugly.

You know what, considering RE6's campaign takes about 30 hours to get through according to people with the review code, not to mention unlockables and playing with secondary characters/co-op, I'm willing to cut Capcom some slack on this. You're getting a hell of a lot of game for $60.

Voice of reason.

Surprised people aren't raging more about the timed exclusivity for 360.

Gotta agree that it's hard to get too angry about this DLC existing, timed-exclusive or not, on disc or not. If the game really provides over 20 hours of single-player content, plus mercenaries mode, that's worth my money.

Indeed, I will not even miss any of these extra modes.

as much sense as this should make, most of the games i've seen people bitching about post launch and on disk DLC were GREAT value propositions for the base game. people will ignore that the game includes at least as much content as the last two games and just foam at the mouth that the DLC was on the disc or ready the day the game came out.

Selling game modes is a disgrace. No way they were not ready before release.

You are basically selling game play parameters but no actual content.

Every decent company gives away game modes for free and charges for extra maps only.

People will also act surprised and/or angry about this as if we weren't seven years into this generation.

People will also think that this will change by VOTING WITH UR WALLAT despite having done so multiple times before.

Meh, such bullshit.

"Predator Mode: One player is Ustanak, others must try to eliminate him."

Unless they fixed things, good luck playing against Jake players. Being in infinite stun should be a joy.

Yeah... my feeling on it too. And as a PS3 player I'm not even too concerned about the timed 360 exclusivity since I''l probably take quite some time before I'd ever touch that stuff anyway.

The content or length of the single player is irrelevant.
They are still taking the piss trying to sell people game modes.
Also the people defending all have resident evil avatars... some people can never admit when a company is in the wrong.
