"can" and "will" are the key words here. there is a 100% chance it "can" happen because M$ owns rare and can tell them to make killer instinct 3 since rare owns KI.

In an industry where Tomb Raider is considered a failure don't EVER expect a long-shot game like KI3 to ever ever ever ever happen.

I played the hell out of KI on the snes in the day, but it's a bad game really.
I don't see why MS couldn't make a 2d xbla game for it though, it probably would have already got a nostalgia fueled HD arcade sized release if someone else owned it.

I could see MS lending the license to an interested third party, but I don't see it happening internally outside of a re-release of the originals or a reboot in a completely different genre.

Why would they even bother? It's a long dead IP that means nothing to the current gaming audience.
