Don't get your hopes up for a Steam release.
PSX emulators don't double the rendered resolution of the backgrounds and CG movies, which is what the PC version has. PC version > emulated PSX > PSXBut it's already on PC. And if you want a hi-res version just buy the PSX copy and emulate it.
I don't see why it wouldn't at least follow in the footsteps of FFVII: Squeenix Store first, Steam later.

MIDI musics
The music was different (not as bad as the original PC-version). Achievements, "game-cheats" and a better translation. What was the difference with the recent FF7 re release from the original? Better res textures or something?
Thanks to Grief.exe
Steam achievements for Final Fantasy VIII have shown up: http://api.steampowered.com/ISteamU...ievementPercentagesForApp/v0002/?gameid=39150

Fixed again.
Why this wasn't done initially is a mystery, but it's not using standard midi.
because square had no fucking clue when it came to handling ffvii, whether we're talking about the pc port or archiving.
If it was like VII they just released, no thanks. They have no problems updating older FFs, and even X, X-2, but they can't upres VII, VIII or IX at all? I fail to believe that. At least make the FMV's widescreen and clean them up a bit.
