Buy PS+ 1yr sub (costs $50), get $10 PSN credit (GameStop exclusive)

Gamasutra.
Because interest in PS+ has been getting some positive interest here on GAF for a while, I thought I'd highlight something that might have been missed in the past couple of days. (I am original poster of the PS+ Official Thread here on GAF, so I figured I could step up and point this out for people.)

From the PlayStation Blog:
Exclusively in GameStop stores, buy a 1 year PS Plus membership and get $10 in PSN cash to use on the PlayStation Store! You’ll get it right when you buy the 1 year Plus membership at GameStop; how’s that for instant gratification? You have until June 20th June 2nd to take advantage of this deal. So whether you’ve been thinking about checking out PS Plus, or are an Instant Game Collection vet, you’ll want to hop on this deal.

If you think PS+ is valuable, or you want to re-up, this is a decent deal. Also if you have a friend who is a GS employee, they get $5 PSN credit for each subscription they sell. (I asked an employee about this today, and that person was enthusiastic about it.)

This was previously mentioned obliquely by nhlducks35 and brought up by Square Triangle in the PS+ Official Thread.

Just realized thread title could be taken to mean $10 GameStop credit. Perhaps a mod can tweak? Sorry.

I'm already subbed till Winter 2014 :(

Funnily enough it was basically the same deal last time. Spent $50 on a PS+ sub during March, got $10 on PSN back.

Thank you for this thread I had no idea, PS+ is the coolest things subscription for gaming. I've been doing 1 month or 3 months at a time, but I'm going to get the year subscription now.

How much have the discounts from sony been for it? Debating on whether to wait or not...
The best deal was back in March when they did "spend $50 on PS Store, get $10 credit" combined with "buy 1yr sub, get 3 bonus months".

That got me 15 months on the end of my current subscription for what is effectively $40 if you count the $10 as a discount on the $50. (I spend money on PS Store stuff anyway, so it works out for me.)

Got it as part of the prior $10 back deal but on PSN, this is VAGUELY tempting but I'd probably pass just because it's already good for quite awhile.

Sounds like an okayish deal but I'd be wary of subbing for a full year until we know Sony's plans for next gen plus and a possible tier system.

That's a really good point.

I think it's particularly important to note that this deal was originally listed as ending on 20 June but then moved back to 2 June. That moves it from after E3 to before E3!

My current subscription is through April 2015, so I think I'm good.

Sounds good. Will Sony be supporting PS+ for another year?

PS+ subscription fees pretty much just pay for PS+ stuff, as far as I know, so as long as there are subscribers, there should be content. Not sure what the PS3->PS4 transition will do, but we'll see.

Your PS3/Vita will still work when the PS4 is released.

I think he means more like how they'll handle the free games... Will they stop giving ps3 for ps4? Will they give ps4 for free along with ps3? It's hard to tell and depending on if you get a ps4, it might be dead weight to you by then.

What I'm guessing will happen will be similar to the Vita. PS+ will be on the PS4 on day one, but you won't start getting free games until maybe a year or a little less after the console has launched. The PS3 will probably also be supported for at least another year after the PS4 is released.

Maybe but we don't know. Will PS4 be able to even play the PS3 games? Because if it can't, there's no reason to even have it on PS4 for that whole year then.

I would hope that Sony has been making cross-platform dev tools available for some time now. There is no reason that all PSN games after this fall shouldn't be on both systems ( or on three if you count PSV).

This sounds like an awesome deal. An even better deal would be to buy PSN + and get a free game (Guacamelee? Journey?)
