So it's finally back -- college football. You've (probably) gotten to see your team play a game, maybe looking a bit shaky but some room for improvement. You could use a good, solid win in Week 2, right? RIGHT.

For that, you've got the college of Directional State ready to suit your needs. For a small (read: large) sum, Directional State is willing to put live bodies in front of your team and let you manhandle them for a couple hours. You can't put a price on an assured win for your team, right? Well, we can.

What's the worst that could happen?

Feel asleep after the game last night so I didn't get to post. Jameis looked awesome. I'm cautiously optimistic about the rest of the season. Defensive Ends need to shape up big time though.

No kidding. It's like the international break in soccer only a few weeks after the seasons start again. All pumped up and then boom, 2 weeks until a game.

They need some experience. No surprise that Christian Jones was consistently able to bust through the line though. That was both good and bad.

I'm still amazed by Kirk Ferentz's ridiculous contract.

Not only should he be fired, but Iowa's athletic director should be fired as well for giving him such an absurd deal.

In Mack's defense, Connor Brewer was of course very highly regarded as well and his main recruiter was Harsin (OC/QB Coach at the time) who probably selected him as his preferred QB. Recruits say a lot of stuff, there's really no way to know if Jaboo would have signed for UT or not regardless of what he said.

The Pac-12 reinstated McCain after his ejection for 'targeting' on Saturday night.
Due to what the Pac-12 Conference office termed “a technical failure and resulting breakdown in communication,” Cal defensive end Chris McCain has been reinstated to play in the entirety of Saturday’s game against Portland State.

McCain was called for roughing the passer and subsequently ejected from the Northwestern game for “targeting.” However, video of the play never was reviewed, which is required before it’s determined whether the play warrants ejection.

Yeah, I understand the skepticism. Driskel was always a raw, but really athletic QB. He won the Elite 11, but he really only was good at passing supper accurately at stationary targets. His HS basically had a sucky football program, so he never really learned much about the passing game (reading coverages, throwing with anticipation/timing, etc). Driskel posts basically the same stat line he did in HS - lots of good rushes, and high completion rates in the short passing game.

His slow development plus Muschamp wanting to play conservative so Driskel doesn't lose us games (like Brantley did) has made our passing game average. Brissett was never as highly touted from HS, but allegedly was a better passer.

Grier is an elite passing talent. He understands the passing game pretty well (his dad is his HS HC/OC). More importantly he has that A-type personality and (probably) won't wilt under the pressure like Brantley did. It's still a crap shoot, but I think there is a pretty good chance he'll be successful in college. Not saying he'll win the Heisman, but our passing game should take a tremendous step up when he is ready.

Would you rather redshirt Grier or have him as our backup next year? It's highly unlikely he beats out Driskel in the spring.

I say redshirt him.

I think they'll use the computer rankings to help determine who the best teams really are in close, so they'll still be somewhat of a factor.

In spite of the fact that they help my school, I still think they're bullshit. The formulas and their calculations should at least be open for public review.
