Theme: Reign of Error

Optional Secondary Objective: Double entendres

Word count: 2500. I may come to regret that when it comes time to read everything, especially since I haven't had much trouble keeping under word limits lately...

Submission Deadline: Friday, Janurary 10th, by 11:59 p.m. Pacific

Voting begins Saturday, January 11th, and goes until Monday, January 13th at 11:59 PM Pacific. Which is coincidentally my birthday. Will I get a twofer for a present? Time will tell!


Submission Guidelines:

- One entry per poster.
- All submissions must be written during the time of the challenge.
- Using the topic as the title of your piece is discouraged.
- Keep to the word count!

Voting Guidelines:

- Three votes per voter. Please denote in your voting your 1st (3 pts), 2nd (2 pts), and 3rd (1 pt) place votes.
- Please read all submissions before voting.
- You must vote in order to be eligible to win the challenge.
- When voting ends, the winner gets a collective pat on the back, and starts the new challenge.

I just came up with a good idea and it so happens to fit this challenge. Let's see if I can get it in on time and not need to cut ~500 words to make it fit this time.

I have no ideas at all for this yet, it was just a theme that popped into my head last week for the next time I won.

My track record for winning is pretty scant, so I wasn't expecting to use it so soon : /

Ourobolus: You're hilarious. I was in the mountains of Oregon with not much reception and when I saw your comment, "Gaaaaah where were you earlier!!" I wondered, "Whoa, would my vote have been a tie-breaker?" then I looked at the list of votes. :) Heheh. Anyway, good story!

When I participate in challenges I like to adhere to the primary and secondary challenge. I know the secondary is optional but I feel like I'm cheating myself if I ignore it, and it hangs over me like an annoying fly while I write. Double entrendes naturally lends itself to comedy and I'm no comedy writer.

Can't even come up with anything for the primary objective anyway. Failing all over the place. Typical that I've finally got some free time and Microsoft Word open and nothing to type.

This theme is really difficult. I've come up with pretty detailed plans for most weeks - though I rarely get past writing the first paragraph - but for this one, which I was really determined to take part in, I have nothing. I might have to take a previous idea and try to adapt it or something.

Ah crap, totally let this slip. I wrote like 200 words and then an outline, and forgot about it completely over the weekend. Guess I should crank it out.

Ah I see. No it's not my normal approach but I've yet to form an idea from the prompt, and I suddenly had some unexpected free time on my hands and was desperate to get something written. I failed.

The idea I had is really more of a novel. So what I have here are two scenes strung together by a summary of what happens between. I'm not sure if the first scene would be the first one in the proposed novel, and the last definitely wouldn't be the last, but it's an entry and I'm not going to have time to write anything else.

I'm a bit disappointed with what I came up with. I thought the idea was neat, but I tried to cram so much into 2500 words that I think the quality of my writing suffered. Nowhere near as much detail as I'd have liked, but oh well.

Bleh, had a more fun idea come to my mind this afternoon, but couldn't think of how to add the double entendre stuff to it (not that what I did here was any better), so went back to my original idea and sort of mailed it in heh (~1500 words)

That's exactly how I feel! I don't write comedy either and I completely forgot about the secondary as I brainstormed anyway. I created a vague story line in my mind, only to re-read the secondary and now I feel EXACT same way: "Like I'm cheating myself if I ignore it, and it hangs over me like an annoying fly while I write." Argh!!! I've got minutes to figure this out! (I feel the need to go to bed early.)

Side comment:
It's blowing me away to see everyone's avatars. It's funny to actually see head shots of people in our group! Who knew! I always thought people looked like their avatars... before they changed their avatars to self-portrait photos. I was baffled when I discovered Ronito wasn't a screaming cat. I wonder if GRW810 is really a little girl with an anvil gun and Mike M really wears a gas mask at all times.
