Were you able to download Dead Nation (Vita) free yesterday?

I ask because I couldn't, despite purchasing the PS3 version for $14.99 on 09/25/11. It's still in my download history.

I called, and got on instant chat with Playstation customer service reps a total of 7 times yesterday, and not once could I get anyone to fix my problem. I got transferred to departments that didn't know what to do. One person, after I asked to speak to his supervisor, insisted that I had to call Sony Online Entertainment and gave me the number. Of course, after calling I was told that they only deal with Sony's MMOs.

I got told specifically that the game is not a cross-buy title. I even told them that it says on the PSN store specifically under Dead Nation Vita's description that it's cross-buy and purchasing it once gives you both versions.

Did anyone else have any trouble with this, and if you didn't, how long ago did you purchase Dead Nation on PS3? I'm going to get on chat with customer service for the 8th time tonight and I'm literally going to link them to this thread. So if you were able to download the game for free yesterday, that would be helpful information.

Thanks, I'm honestly not sure what else to do. I've literally never encountered customer service this bad in my life. All the times I had to deal with Microsoft customer service were so much better than this.
 
I got Dead Nation as one of my 2 free games when PSN was down for that month, and was able to get the Vita version for free earlier today via the webstore.

OP did you try accessing it on the Vita store itself? I couldn't download it for free through the webstore yesterday but it showed up as free through the Vita store itself for whatever reason.

I'm sure I got it as part of the PSN Welcome Back package too.

I think PSN was acting weird yesterday though. SEN said I didn't own that Ethan Meteor game on PS3 yesterday and was going to double charge me if I tried to buy it "again." It wasn't until I claimed the Vita version (cross buy) that it showed me as having owned it

Tried the website, the PS3 store and the Vita store. Listed as $7.99 on all 3.
 
Have you tried adding the game to your cart? It shows up as $8 on the webstore for me even though I already own the PS3 version, but after adding it to my cart it's showing up as free during checkout.

I did try that actually. $7.99 was my total still, no tax.

This has happened to me as well so i usually ignore the price. I do make sure to check out the price during check out. So if it is not listed as free at that point, something might be wrong.

Same happened with me.

On a side note I can't remember if I bought the game or got it for free after the PSN fiasco. I believe I have bought it.
 
Well I'm #20 in line now for the online chat, so let's see how it goes. This should be more than enough to contest the idea that it's not a cross-buy title.
 
I had to call and one guy put me on hold expecting me to hang up, after telling me it was not cross buy. I called and asked for supervisor, I purchased the game last year, he gave me a voucher for ten bucks so I was cool with that. Giving me a voucher was all they could do, they were totally fucking clueless, they put you on hold hoping that you hang up lol.

Worked for me today via online store. I know this came up in the PSN thread a few times yesterday and the impacted people eventually realized they had gotten the game on a separate account. If I remember correctly a lot of people were game sharing back then and buying games on secondary accounts.

Don't know if that is helpful at all... hope you get it sorted!

Maybe go to the official PS forums and try there? Or try hitting up Morgan Haro's twitter. He can be helpful sometimes.

Dead Nation will cost $7.99, and the Road of Devastation DLC can be purchased separately for $3.99. Anyone who has previously purchased the PS3 game or Road of Devastation will be entitled to the PS Vita versions at no extra cost, thanks to cross buy.

Excuse #1) "Even their supervisors cannot give PSN credit." I was still not allowed to speak to a supervisor, in all 9 attempts.
Excuse #2) "The game is not cross-buy." I showed them the US blog post and the PSN store quotes.
Excuse #3) "The game is supposed to be $3.99 if you bought it previously." I explained that they are mistaken and that is the Road of Devastation DLC.
Excuse #4) "Upon further review, the "team" that authorizes Dead Nation vouchers is only there from 8am - 5pm."

So ... now I wait to call again tomorrow for attempt #10. Time elapsed since first contacting Sony customer service: 29 hours, 43 minutes.

I had a HORRIFIC experience with Sony's customer support when that last Vita update bricked my system.

The second update they released to fix it DIDN'T fix my system. I called them and they said I was the only person who'd reported this problem, so it must have been a pre-existing problem with the Vita and I would have to pay over $100 to send it in to get repaired.

The supervisors have absolutely no power to resolve any issues like that, so it was basically me talking to a brick wall saying "your update broke my system, so why should I have to pay for your mistake?"

Thank god someone online found a workaround to the issue I and others were having, because I'd be DAMNED if I'd ever pay them that much money just to fix an issue they caused.
 
I just got this for free, was planning to purchase for real money - must have downloaded the PS3 version in the past.

Worked for me though. US here and I got it as part of the Welcome Back program. At first the game didn't show up in my download list so I had to "purchase" (it was marked as free) to make it show up
 
Just to chime in on this. I checked from the website and it showed that I owned the PS3 version (both main game and DLC) and the Vita version was free but the DLC wasn't. Refreshed the page, tried different ways to get to the page but same results. Turned on my PS3 and searched for it and found that the PS3 version (both main game and DLC) had a price on it and I had to buy it. Checked out the Vita version and it was free with the DLC. Picked them both up then quit the store and entered it again to check the PS3 version and now it showed up as purchased. Don't know what the issue but it's fine for me now.
 
Did you buy just the base game and now you're trying to add the base game + DLC on the Vita? There are two separate entries for Dead Nation on the Vita, perhaps you're looking at the wrong one.

I bought the game + DLC bundle on PS3 a few weeks ago and the bundles on Vita / PS3 show as unavailable to buy, while I can still buy the base game for 10€. I tried checking out and the price doesn't go down.

Of course, the Vita version isn't in my download list.

Tried from the web and Vita stores. Will give PS3 store a try, just in case.

Crossbuy is a great idea but the amount of fuckups everytime a new game rolls out seems pretty high to me.

These aren't isolated cases as the comment section of this week's update blog post is full of people asking.

Glass half full: I almost had no trouble getting the Sly trilogy for free.

That did it for me. Didn't even realize the game's out for Vita.

I HATE dealing with Sony's customer service. Totally clueless most of the time.

Don't even know why they have one tbh. They have yet to solve a single issue when I phone in.

Weird, can't find the PS3 version on my download list either. Pretty sure I chose it after the outage and I have trophies for it also. When I find it on the store it wants me to pay for both versions.
 
I honestly can't remember. I'm just wondering why the PS4 version is already tied to my account, usually I have to claim titles if they're part of the Plus promotions.

Yeah that's really odd if you haven't gone through the "buying" process on it. In any case the PS4 version is different to the PS3/Vita version.
