If they release a PSP with 8GB of NAND Flash for the end of the year and name it PSP 2.0 the people that has bought the first PSP will be pissed.
Others have debunked this as a deal which is no longer in play, but the concept fails even basic rational inspection:
1) Your first post implied that flash memory could be used instead of a UMD drive in some future PSP. How would anyone buy a game? How would you store a game if not in use? Even if you had some ability to transfer data on/off the device, wouldn't you be restricted to only having 3-4 games with you at any one time?
2) Why would Sony want to start including a ton of internal storage as standard equipment? That would harm them in two ways. First, it would raise the base cost of the unit, and the price of a PSP (pack) is one of the biggest factors -- if not THE biggest factor -- affecting their marketshare. Second, Sony gains a significant amount of extra money by selling Memory Stick Pro Duos. How is adding a lot of onboard storage to the PSP itself a better business case for Sony?
