Trainyard is a puzzle solving game unlike any that you've ever played. It's easy to learn but very tough to master. Your job is simple: get each train to a goal station. Red trains go to red stations, blue trains go to blue stations, etc. You control the trains by drawing track for them to follow. There isn't a time limit or even a score; the only thing you need to do is figure out a solution for each puzzle.
The first few puzzles are almost too easy, but as the difficulty increases you'll be thankful that you were able to practice the fundamentals of drawing track. As the game progresses, you'll have to use colour theory to combine trains of different colours, use timing to merge and split trains, and use every inch of your brain in your quest to beat the game.

Also, I know it's F2P, but is it too early or forbidden to recommend Terra Battle for the Strategy list? It does have timers, but they're relatively short. It's just a really well-made strategy that plays on the push mechanics of PAD in a way that doesn't feel lazy, and the art is fantastic.

out of curiosity, how was this list compiled? metacritic? forum searching? You mentioned you dabbled in most of these games.

Would have been a bit better if you've thrown up a few of your own words and thoughts for some of the stuff instead of just the app description though!

My suggestions for more stuff:

GTA Series - decent ports of all PS2 era GTAs plus Chinatown Wars, all totally playable and very fun.
Monkey Island games - because reading this reminded me that I've still not played Monkey Island 2 yet.
Ms Splosion Man - one of the best platformers on iOS, hands down. So much content as well.
Great Little War Game - the closest we have to Advance Wars for the time being.
Llamasoft Catalogue - so many great retro arcade games made by a legend in the field. Minotaur Rescue, Minotron, Gridrunner, Goat Up, Super Ox Wars, Caverns of Minos... amazing games all.
