Samsung’s big reveal at the Samsung Developer Conference 2014 (SDC14) was Project Beyond, a new 360 degree video camera designed for use with the Gear VR. Unlike most of its rivals, Project Beyond films in full stereoscopic 3D, and the hands-on demonstration available on the show floor is nothing less than impressive.

Exciting. Seems odd though.
If you're looking around on a horizontal plane everything will be in 3D, but what happens when you tilt your head up? Is it only that horizontal plane that's 3D and when you look up it goes to 2D? Or some weird partial 3D? I'm wondering how that might feel.

I look forward to seeing this thing's output in person. This kind of tech is exciting.

High resolution, 360-degree stereoscopic video content is going to take up so much data space. 16 times the space, to be precise.

Should be awesome though. Even the makeshift non-stereoscopic '5-GoPros-stuck-together' footage feels amazing in VR. This has the potential to usher in an entire new medium.
