The Black Friday sales event shakes up the All Formats Chart this week, propelling ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ (+110%) back to the top.

It's up from No3 and switches places with last week’s No1 ‘GTA V’ (-64%). As sales of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA V drop off in their second week of release, it is the previous generation versions of ‘Call of Duty’ (Xbox 360 and PS3) that take advantage. 67% of COD sales this week are on the older console formats, whereas at launch it was a 68% share for PS4 and Xbox One. Sales of ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ this week are the largest ever for any title in a Black Friday week. ‘FIFA 15’ (+84%) also benefits from the shopping frenzy, climbing from No4 to No2, just pipping GTA by 1,500 units. Down from No2 to No4, ‘Far Cry 4’ (-54%) remains Ubisoft’s top selling game this week despite competition from ‘Assassin’s Creed: Unity’ (+28%) up from No6 to No5, boosted by strong promotions on the Xbox One console hardware bundles.

‘Pokémon Omega Ruby’ is the highest new entry this week at No7, one place and 2,400 sales ahead of sister title ‘Pokémon Alpha Sapphire’. Combined, the new Pokémon titles would have charted at No3. Last year’s Pokémon X and Y debuted at No’s 3 and 4 respectively, however sales of the new Alpha and Omega games better them by 17%. Combined they also become the biggest Pokémon launch ever, beating previous best Pokémon Black and White Versions on DS back in 2011. Sony’s ‘Driveclub’ (+999%) speeds back up the chart from No33 to No8 thanks to massive sales on the Black Friday promoted PS4 console hardware bundle. Like its successor ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ (+353%) benefits from the upsurge in sales of the Xbox One hardware bundle, pushing it from No18 to No9. ‘Minecraft: Xbox Edition’ (+184%) re-enters the Top 10 at No10 boosted by the release of the Xbox One Edition. There are a large number of Black Friday promotions across the Top 40 including ‘Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’ (+128%) at No11 and ‘Disney Infinity 2.0’ (+140%) at No14, among many others.

‘Super Smash Bros.’ (+560%) jumps from No27 to No13 with its launch this week on Wii U alongside the new compatible Amiibo figures. In amongst all the heavily promoted Black Friday titles ‘LittleBigPlanet 3’ manages to make a debut at No18.

Pro Evo with all its discounts still couldn't get back into the top 40.

Looks like Pokémon did well.

Isnt that low for Smash Bros?

Sad to see Dragon Age fall down the chart so fast, hopefully good word of mouth helps it.

Xbox One software seems to selling alot better in the UK, but the rest of Europe still seems a struggle.

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
5 XBO games in the top 12.

Looks like XBO sold more during this week !

Measure Black Flag XBO and DriveClub for PS4 to get sales of consoles. Or what would be a good measure of console sales?

360 struggled in rest of Europe too, brand has never been that strong there.

Driveclub is really good just a bit disappointing that challenges still offline and it's almost two months since launch. Anyways hope they will survive all this and will be able to deliver next Motorstorm.

It's good to see Driveclub on the charts. The game definitely deserves it despite of the online problems.

At least the aggressive push MS is doing in UK seems to be working some.
Sweden charts are boring, nothing worthwhile to comment on :(

Sales of both next-gen consoles were up sharply week-on-week in the UK last week as retailers offered some great Black Friday deals.

Overall games hardware sales (both consoles and handhelds) soared past 300k units, a retail source has told MCV. Home console sales in the UK are at this point double were they were at the same stage in 2013, although the handheld market is down by almost a third.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One saw sales double week-on-week, with Xbox One again just edging ahead of its rival.

I thought Sweden was a lockdown for MS and the XB1? Scandinavia in general but Sweden specifically were pro xbox?

Quite the opposite actually. PS3 was the primary console in the Nordic countries, and only in Sweden, were the consoles close, with PS3 still edging out the X360 by a tiny bit.

And MS making Sweden (a country without any real language issues with English) a tier 2 country did not help one bit.

although it falls short of the barnstorming victory Microsoft’s machine apparently saw in the US over the weekend.

Still seen zero promotion for that game. It seems there's no official DA XBone bundle either? Looks like EA sent that one out to die in terms of it's release timing, marketing partner and promotional activity.

Yeah it's weird, you'd think EA and MS would have created a bundle for it, but it's like you said, been sent out to die. I have seen no promotion for the game at all.

Just edging ahead?

I was seeing deals for the X1 for 269.99 with a free game.... and its "just" edging ahead?

I would love to see what the numbers are. I find that amazing.

Yeo - I honestly don't understand why they chose this launch slot for the game. It was always going to get eaten alive next to CoD / FIFA / AC, and I haven't seen a single advert or promo for it at all. Obviously doesn't help its marketing deal is with the XBO, but it's been left to die which makes me really sad as its so good and I worry we won't get games like this anymore as it bombs.

Presume EA wanted something on the market to fill the RPG hole and offer an alternative to the big three hitters we see every Christmas, but I'm not sure that type of counter-marketing actually works for computer games in November / December. Shelf space is so limited at this point, and the lack of a bundle doesn't help either.

unlike in the US, PS4 also got deals to remain competitive in price, although I'm not sure how far they went

This is true, It was a real bloodbath going by HUKD.

I still feel the X1 deals were better, I was expecting a distinct victory. Sounds like the difference between the two was under 5k.

Can we say LBP3 bombed?

Only if we are saying Smash bombed too. Both seemed to have not done too well.

After all this was WiiU's biggest game vs PS4's least hyped/promoted game this fall and there's probably only a few thousand in it (both around 30k mark). I wonder if the 3DS game has hurt the WiiU version in the UK. Seems to have done really well in the US however.

Then you might as well say Smash bombed too.

I think there's a difference between a game that sells as much as it can on it's target console (could argue the console bombed rather than Smash) compared to a game releasing for a console that has the install base the PS4 and PS3 have already.

That said, Nintendo seem to have handled it all poorly with the release date changing almost at the last minute and these bundles and adaptors failing to come through based on experiences people have had with Amazon, ShopTo and Zavvi orders. Who knows how much all that contributed to its chart position.
