Prototype vids for games that never were

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I was really anticipating this game and the concept art was insane and gave a proper horror vibe to a post-rapture world ruled by demons, even Darksiders didn't get it quite right as that seemed too much like a comic book. Was sad when they cancelled it. Here is 9 minutes of gameplay.

also, what ever happened to Captain Blood for the ps3 and 360? i saw a short play through online somewhere and thought it looked pretty neat. like Spartan: Total Warrior but with pirates.

if wikipedia is to be believed, it was also planned for Wii U and was based on a novel?

It's like everything I could want in a game.

It's clear some kind of build existed at that point. If anyone from Human Head still has a copy of this hidden somewhere, please get in contact with me in private. I solemnly swear that I will not share it with another soul. I just want to experience this, even if it's entirely basic and unfinished.

If you don't remember, there was a scandal a while back where they said the game was practically finished, but there was some rights dispute or something. It's all here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/prey-2/

If I remember correctly, it was something about Bethesda holding Prey 2 hostage because Human Head Studios refused to.... do something that I can't remember. So they managed to force them to default on their agreement through some loophole, and then supposedly dropped it off on Arkane. I don't know what happened to it, but it was a fucking mess.

Oh, that was the "press sneak fucks" thing. That's right.

True Fantasy is another shot to the gut. After coming off of Ultima I really wanted a anime pseudo inspired RPG. Wanted to be a cook or fly on a crazy broomstick.

My old (sold?) Xbox weeps.

LiamR, there was never such thing as 'Short supply' for finding anything about the content of the cancelled Crash games in 2010.. (I am not the only one who's collecting them)

Anyways, here is the series of 3 games of Crash cancelled that were to be released in 2010:

Crash Landed (DS, Renegade Kid, 2 weeks made pitch, similar to Crash Landed (R.E.))
Crash Landed (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii) Main video
More Crash Landed (Console) Animations
Even more Crash Landed (Screenshots)
More (Concept Art)
Crash Landed Theme (?)
Crash Team Racing 2010 Screenshots
Crash Team Racing 2010 Animation Reel

What was the name of the game that was a futuristic retelling of the French Revolution that combined single player and multiplayer elements?

Crash landed looked great....i might have actually picked it up

Robotech Crystal Dreams. Launch title from one of the "dream team" developers for the Ultra 64. I remember being so pumped for this before the N64 came out.

Dead Space for the original Xbox. Had no idea the game had been in development that long when I played through it but makes sense given how good/polished it was.

Thrill Kill. Lets pay a developer to make a game and then when it's almost done we'll decide not to release it and use the engine to make a Wu Tang game instead. Good call guys.

100 Bullets. Love the comic book. Could have been awesome. Designing a game where you only have 100 bullets wouldn't be easy.

Interesting....care to elaborate? I imagine its all still under NDA til the end of time, but Im always interested in game development stuff

Without going into too many details: poor interpretation of focus group feedback and a misplaced re-imagining of a property that was diametrically opposed to the source material. The team put in an amazing effort to deliver what was being asked of them, but in the end it was a project that lost its way.

Edit: Worth mentioning that the work that I'm talking about predates the concept art/videos that were released a couple of years back. Some concept renders / logo treatments / design sketches that were done for an original prototype / pitch doc that are in my portfolio and likely will not see the light of day since I'm not sure of the NDA restrictions on the work.

Here's another video, that goes over the development of the title. I had no idea they had so much already done for the game. Seems like the story would have been a joy for a hard core Robotech junkie, bringing in all sorts of geeky stuff like the Malcontents, Leonard vs the RDF and the like. Very, very cool.

Was there ever any footage of Double Aught's Duality? One of the best-looking late-90s games ever, in terms of art direction.

Very interesting....thanks for sharing...always wondered about focus testing influence in games

Project Offset

This game was showing off graphics back in 2005 or 2006 that was blowing my mind. Of course it never happened. Just looked and moved too good to be true.

Does B.C. count? Pretty bummed this game didn't come out. Dinos are so underrepresented in modern-ish gaming.

I was unbelievably hyped for this game as a kid. Was super disappointed when it was canceled.

I'm still pining for a prehistoric open-world game with Skyrim's scope and ultra realism. Will probably never happen though.
