Shouta, vouch for me please.

Haha, where is your God now?!?!?!

man smedwicks you're living my dream right now. i'm super excited to at least attempt to compete in a major.

CEO seems so far away and I dun even know if I got the money to go. like i dont even want to compete, just to be in the atmosphere/environment of a major or some shit

Believe me Silky, when I went to my first tournament, it was a 2 hour train ride, it was raining and I looked like a bum since I woke up really late for the tournament and decided to still go since some of my friends were hyping it up (it was defend the north). Once I made it there, I was glad I went, the hype, camaraderie and salt was all worth it with that 2 hour train ride. Also, being a spectator was only 20 bucks so why not, I still got to play casuals and body some pros.

Honestly, I wish I had more time to compete :\ School is making it real rough as I'm just an average/unmotivated student. I'm almost half considering "retiring" after Evo. I love watching but it's actually tough for me to find the time/energy to make it out to events.

Well man, just manage your time. If your not having fun doing it then you shouldn't do it. If you're unmotivated with school, just find some more people to hang out with who are under the same department/major as you, it makes a huge difference when you're with a group of people, you feel more motivated to do things.

Yeah. I think my enthusiasm around that time will only limit me to go to events near my area. I don't think I'll ever go to EVO or anything on the WC. :s

wah? I've only seen two communities first hand but they were comprised largely of Ordinaries

... are ordinaries like non-fg nerd humans, or some sort of android, or some sort of elite virtual fighting force bent on world domination orrrrrr what?

He'll show up.

I hope.

And yeah, I should manage my time, and I do, but I eventually weaken. It's tough for me, really. I don't want to get too into it though, as there's no huge reason for me too, and it'll probably cross the personal space line to some degree :p

Yeah. Evo is probably the furthest I'll ever travel for a tournament, mostly because I can get there by car. I'd go to weeklies more often, but between 8 am classes and a relatively shitty constitution/inability to be up late, it's rough.

I wish BBCP was out before the end of the damn month next month. I've been waiting to see the damn ending to this arc of the story for ages now. End of the month releases are lame :l

Nah, I'm sure it'll come out and reach NTSC and PAL territories.. eventually.

Honestly, I think the biggest sign of the game being released internationally Soon(tm) is that the game is getting a PS4 port. If they were 100% focused on Japan, they would not be talking about ports at all, never mind one on a console that's going to have no burn in Japan.

And it's not OUR fault that you waifu-watching Japanese can't understand the intricacies of an italian cuisine!

what are we arguing about again
You clearly don't understand the proper intricacies of why 2D waifus are clearly superior, you disgusting 3D pig scum!
Seriously though, when's Marvel
^H^H^H^H^H^HUNIEL
?

Nah I didn't. You sounded lonely to me so I thought a little remainder that you have people here for you wouldn't have hurt.

That Captain America is still booty though.

Well thanks, I love FGC-GAF, all of you guys rock and were the main reason I joined GAF in the first place!

And my Cap is awesome, I'm the best Cap in the world.

I thought Japan was REALLY excited about the PS4, more than they have been about consoles in a long time. At least from some polls a while back. I mean the market hasn't expanded like it has elsewhere but I'm sure they're not too picky about porting it to a PC-like architecture.

How?
Ignoring his Persona of course, his normals and specials are almost nothing like Faust's.

Some items are similar, but most are different, and of course Teddie's are fixed.

Faust has overheads too!

I really want to start going to some majors, at least when there's some around the area. Problem is the fact that I live in Boston and they're aren't majors here at all except for GUTS 2 Turbo if you count that as a major. I went to that and I remember Kbrad saw my OG SFIV Femme Fatale stick all pimped out and just gave me an acknowledgement nod (which kinda made my day).

I have no issues with going to majors closer to NYC/NJ where it seems to happen more but the lack of money and friends that play fighting games would make that a lonely endeavor which kinda sucks. Like I'm sure it'd be a ton of fun going to a major with a few buddies and splitting gas and whatnot but I just don't have that. I just have a few friends that like to play online from time to time, etc. I would love to do that so much though, I'm just kind of afraid to go to alone like I did at GUTS. I knew some people there but I was not really tight with anyone so I just felt like I was wandering around aimlessly and I just kind of left early.

Just reading the PS4 Japan launch thread and last Media Create thread, Japan seems very lukewarm about the PS4... and I can't really blame them, as the content really isn't there. Japanese developers have always been slow to move platforms, too -- the PS2 was consistently getting new releases until what, late 2009? It's probably an easier move for an arcade developer like ArcSys (since they're already working on x86 architecture), especially since they're running on UE3. They probably got the PS4 build running within a month, if that. Still kind of surprised they were talking about the console release before the arcade version went live, though. There will probably be more info at E3.

You're in Boston and you went to GUTS... do you go to any of the local events? It really comes down to playing more, getting to meet and know people and going from there. Fighting game players will give people a lot of slack, from my experience. Hell, the first major I traveled out to I was rooming with a bunch of people I only knew online. The worst thing that happened was that I ended up sleeping on the floor.

I used to go to this place in Jamaica Plain (a part of Boston) called Brain Box that was open for a year or so. It was a pretty cool place and I met some cool people there but it eventually closed down so I kinda spaced on getting some numbers in terms of maintaining that connection. Not gonna name names but a couple dudes there were pretty unwelcoming though. Left a bad taste in my mouth, I'm much more for hanging at someone's crib discovering tech and having fun then being super serious about every casual match.

Another instance was when I met this cool dude randomly at this restaurant when I was wearing my "Mad Salty" shirt (which my ex girlfriend still has lol) and we became friendly. But once again it just wasn't a great scenario as he was having a kid and he came by one time after work to play Marvel with a buddy and I but that was it. And then I got a new phone and lost his number haha.

So I guess what I'm saying is you're right I should be going to more local events but the only other one I know of is held by Game Underground who held GUTS and my schedule doesn't really allow it a lot of the time. I was actually really hyped about eventhubs creating that find players near you feature because honestly I'm just looking for people to play with in person on a weekly basis who are cool and not pretentious. I just feel like if I go to a spot to play and I'm alone I already feel a bit alien because I'm not necessarily a known face. If I had some people to go with who were excited as I am to go I feel like I'd have a much better time communicating with people who I don't already know.

I don't really have the will for that kind of thing anymore.

Getting destroyed repeatedly online is enough for me I suppose.

There are those of us who love to go out and compete, join the community, participate in events, etc. There are also those who just want to crack open a dew, watch a stream a bit, then go get destroyed in a lobby after a long day.

Yeah they still exist as a team from what I last remember but the venue closed down about a year or two ago. Word about GU, not that a 40 minute drive is a super far distance but it's that kind of distance where I just get lazy in committing. But let me know when you go as it would be good to be around fellow GAFers.

Faust has overheads too!

They're the same archetype and have similar gameplans. The major difference is Teddie has a set item order (in P4U2 5D/2D are actually separate lists) so he gets to really make you stop playing the game, while Faust is random. ASW likes to reuse a lot of the basic designs from GG and then reimagine them to fit new engines.

Hmm, interesting. I, admittedly, haven't kept up but that makes me lose even more hope for Japanese publishers getting it together next gen.

Enzo, IVGC is missing from the major events list this week.

Largest French tournament and probably the biggest international event in Europe. Dimineon and Xian are attending. :)
Thanks for this, but I can't for the life of me find the actual stream links, despite the schedule being there. Don't know whether to blame my incompetence or insomnia either.
