I would be gratefull is someone could invite Fuey fu thanks, would like to try out the controller update and the dolby over optical. Thanks to anyone that can.

So what's the best feature of this update so far? I gotta say party chat with automatic party chat turned on will be a huge plus. Took me like 30 minutes the first time to figure out why I couldn't hear my friends

Hey so those of you with the update, did you get an Xbox Live message saying you would be receiving it before hand or did it just download?

Yes

The process for me went:

Email - 20/02
Xbox Dash Message with code - 21/02
Downloaded and ran app - 21/02
Message confirming I'll get update "soon" - 25/02
Update - 26/02

FWIW, people I referred on the 24/02 got their Xbox Dash Message with a code on the 25/02

The update is nice, you can tell Twitch is integrated with the dashboard because from the home screen it says how many friends are broadcasting; in addition to alternating between how many friends and favorites are online.

Another great feature of this update is to disable hand gestures while watching videos!
Its a new option under Kinect settings.

Quick question regarding the update:

I use the Kinect for Skype quite a lot, but it drives me nuts that it uses the same mic for multiplayer, making me have to go into the settings and disable/enable it depending on what I'm doing.

Is there now a way to make Kinect the "default" mic for Skype, and turn it off for Multiplayer chat?

Was in a rush this morning, but I did see my power brick was orange. Can't wait to try when I get home.

Browsing reddit I've seen some more updates with the patch. You can now choose how much you want your volume to increase/decrease when you say "Xbox Volume Up/Down" as well as..

These are the things that I notice are different:
  • You can update controller through USB
  • You now have an option under Kinect that says " Turn hand cursor off while watching video
  • Tutorials about gestures and voice commands are in the settings menu
  • A " show all other notifications" option under NOTIFICATIONS (hopefully this means we will be able to see if friends come online)
  • Everything just seems FASTER!
  • OPTICAL and HDMI audio settings have an option for "BITSTREAM OUT" (no idea what it is. IIT gives you an option between DTS Digital Surround and Dolby Digital
  • Friends APP is much improved. Can see online friends first, recent players and a FAVORITES option. Pretty much everything you saw in that video on XBOX's YOUTUBE CHANNEL. Loads a lot faster too.
  • I tried saying "XBOX, BROADCAST" for shits and giggles and it opened TWITCH! don't think I can broadcast anything though. YET!

apparently you can already use the "Xbox, Broadcast" command, it will take you to twitch, but you wont actually be able to broadcast yet.

I got an email, then a message on my console couple days ago. Then an auto update this morning. I'm on the east coast.

No new options for that, and there hasn't been an update to the Skype app yet..

I imagine they could add audio settings to the Skype app to fix that issue.. Would be a good idea.

Thank god. No more floaty hands when watching Netflix!

Bitstream just passes the signal it receives. So if the source is Dolby Digital, I'd imagine it outputs Dolby Digital.

Yeah, I believe you'll need a receiver to decode the signal for bitstream. Any benefit to turn it on?

Can anyone confirm this? I don't see the option anywhere.. Seems to behave the same as before.

It's under audio settings I think, this is the image from reddit:

I saw it there when I did a quick look at the update before I left for work. Didn't fiddle with anything though. I think saw it under Audio if I remember correctly.

If you're using surround sound in any way, you'll have a receiver. For example, if you have a set of Astros and a Mixamp, stick it on, and it'll decode the signal as full Dolby 5.1

I got the message on Xbox.com and put the code they gave me in, I didn't check last night to see if the app downloaded, but I assume it did. To get the update I'll just have to hard reboot right?

You have to sign into that app and agree to the terms and such.

No, you have to open the app to register your interest in being a beta tester. Then you'll get the update whenever it rolls around.

Update of the forever, disabling hand gestures is something that is sorely needed.
