I guess you mean first-party titles since most third-party games come to PC nowadays.

I'm looking forward to trying this game out, but I own the first two and have still never played through them. I played a bit of the first, but lost interest after a few hours straight of 20fps gameplay.

Yeah and they are held back because they are made for consoles usually. Also the pc I'm upgrading don't really need it but I'm anticipating the jump up due to the new gen. Thanks to last gen I didn't really need to upgrade for years. I actually liked that.

PC have things like Witcher 2, special graphics card sponsored effects, and mods to make their games take advantage of the hardware, but games like MLB The Show would have to be multiplat because PC don't get focused for mass casual games like that. Wow is made with a very low common denominator, Source Engine, even Unreal 3 (it runs so good on pc).

Depth of field only used to save performance. Maybe I'm the only one but I love to take panorama pictures... Someone remembers GTAIV?

Not really? I mean, it can be used to 'hide' performance saving techniques, but adding a DOF pass means you're doing more work. If it is being used to 'save performance', without it you'd be seeing ugly assets (in Sucker Punch's opinion)

Alright it's 2:30 in the morning. I'm going to bed; here are a few more screens. I've decided not to share any cutscenes.

Man this game looks amazing. Probably better than anything I've seen on my new pc, though tomb raider on ultimate settings at 60fps comes close.

Ps4 investment date pushed forward to sometime this year.

I think it's not a fair comparison not only because we are talking about exclusive on one next gen platform compared to a cross gen on 5 platform game but because of the complexity of each game.

Watch Dogs renders a much more complex city with lots of advanced AI (supposedly), lots of cars, probably a bigger city and lots of interactions you can have with all that system.

Infamous is taking place in what seems like a pretty barren city, with very few cars and pedestrians and a smaller city (after all you can't even drive so they cant make it too big).

Because it's much less complex and ambitious with a modest scale they can focus on a much better fidelity, that's why (and the NEXT GEN only thing on one platform) it looks so much better than Watch Dogs.

Some screens look great some look just as meh as Watch_Dogs. It seems like with these open world games the lighting and time of day has to be right for it to look good.

I've read this argument several times in this thread and I'm looking forward to the gta5 next gen port now just to see how watch dogs compares to it.

A couple of things. In a recent interview, Sucker Punch stated that one way they gauge your progress is through the amount of pedestrians. So, it seems like you'll see more and more as the game goes on.

As far as complexity goes, you're really not giving inFamous enough credit. They've got to be able to render a city where you can move from the streets to the sky at high rates of speed. Watch_Dogs has no flying, so there aren't going to be situations where you're above the city and they're having to render large distances as you're flying through it.

Nothing barren about it we already seen recent gameplay and pics with plenty of peds.

Right.

Learned to take "most" peoples opinions as a grain of salt many moons ago.

Also i like to hold judgement on games still in progress ..even watchdogs because half the time games come out different than we initially thought.

Infamous on PS4 is truly showing off what PS4 is capable of. To know these are in-game visuals 4 months after PS4 launch has me totally excited for future PS4 games...especially 1st party stuff. I suppose this refutes all the claims PS4 is not really next generation capable even though i personally felt what we've seen so far on PS4 is only scratching the surface in terms of visuals, physics,AI,etc...Sony's "Greatness Awaits" meme is prophetic .

On a side note:
Some of you guys are in for a HUGE surprise next week when you all see MLB The Show on PS4 hardware. Yes Infamous is the best looking PS4 game thus far imho but MLB The Show will "best it" come next week ...mark my words. A close pal of mine shared a few pieces of media tonight and i was blown away.
The Show already pre-ordered as well mannnnn I can't wait. This week already going too slow I need Infamous now, these screens are fantastic.

I think I missed those screens that look as meh as Watch Dogs. Unfair comparison or not these games are graphically leagues apart.

So all you console only guys who moved from last gen to ps4 and said 720 p (or less) was fine throughout the entirity of last gen, are your eyes opened now?

Imo the image quality of those screenshots is half of what makes them look next gen

Looks outstanding, but, that HUD is kinda gross. The icons and fonts are way too Tony Hawk for my tastes.

Still, this thread made me pre-order the game. Can't wait to see it in motion.

Also you have to be able to grab and climb on everything, so they can't skimp on detail like the sides of buildings, and rooftops.

Ubi I just don't understand
You don't understand how an open-world game that has to be at least somehow playable on a shitty hardware like PS3 would cause problems to developers?

This comparison is incredibly silly. Let's just see how Watch_Dogs 2 looks like in (hopefully no sooner than) 2-2,5 years when they probably aren't being held back by PS360 & Wii U.

Yooo, this game is gorgeous, and also looking incredibly fun. I never played infamous 2, but I did really love the first game. Wish I could afford a PS4 and this game. It looks so amazing.

Look, I bet most "console only guys" know how great games can look on PC and that 1080>720. But most don't really care because of reasons, you know, comfort, strict enjoyment of gameplay and the unique console experience.

Not a fair comparison since Watch_Dogs isn't even targeted for this gen let alone be done for a single console. Im sure if ubisoft had made watch dogs ps4 exclusive... it would look like the reveal if not better.

Either way... Infamous looks amazing and I cannot wait to see this game in action.

Not what I said. But it's not fair to compare the graphics of a game with the depth of GTA, or watch dogs if we believe what we've been told to something like infamous. I don't see why this is so hard to understand. Just the lack of drivable cars allows so many more resources to be allocated on graphics.

pls...stop dude...just stop

Dev team on one console > dev team on 4 consoles and PC.

This is such a lame excuse...These InFam screens almost look as good as the reveal footage of WD. That means PS4 is fully capable of at least getting close to 60-70% of the original E3 demo that was run on some beefed up PC. But the latest footage for WD which was supposed to be from PS4, is not even close to 20% in terms of fidelity. Why not make the PS4 version at least as good as high settings of the PC? Anyway, lets see how things improve (or not) by the time it releases.

But these new screens just look incredible!! And its open world on top of all that....bravo SuckerPunch.

Yeah, I can't wait for this game, amazing and I support West Coast developers because Seattle is awesome, visited quite a few times.

Ubi should put more concern into revamping their open world mission format.

I hope you live in New Zealand because otherwise you're going to struggle to find one.

I didn't know we (aka us here in NZ) had an over-abundance of PS4s?

Actually now that you mention it... Xbone has been doing a lot more advertising here, PS4 has been extremely silent on the promotional front.

Same. The lighting, textures and IQ are still fantastic. I can't fucking wait to play this game.

Thing is, it looks better than that while you're playing it. Seriously when you guys get your hands on this you're in for a visual treat no doubt about it, some areas look rough sometimes, but that's to be expected in a huge game like this.

Took SP over 2 years into PS3's lifecycle to get infamous out and despite it being fun to play it definitely wasn't a pretty title. The fact they got visuals this spectacular 4 months in is truly amazing especially with the size of the studio.
It apparently took that long because they took quite a long time to find a direction for their next game after Sly 3. And inFamous 2 was already quite a good looking game for an open-world PS3 game with so much possibly happening on screen at any given time (they added a lot more destructible structures & stuff into the environments, it's pretty impressive to look at a tornado ripping off cars, destroying structures, flying enemies around etc.). Of course Second Son is on a whole other level, but I think that's mostly because PS4 isn't as shitty hardware as PS3, so even a relatively "small" team of ~100 people can get a lot out of it in 2,5+ years. These people saying Sucker Punch was technically only "so-so" earlier are not giving them enough credit. Slys were pretty good-looking PS2 games back in the day and developing games for PS3 must've been a nightmare, so it's a wonder a team of their size got games like inFamous & inFamous 2 out.
