Titanfall 360 version delayed to April 8th (US), 11 (EU)

The games primary purpose is to sell x1's. Thats why MS Paid for it no? It makes sense for them.

By delaying the Xbox 360 version (which Microsoft makes money on as well) by just two whole weeks? No. It really doesn't.

So, let me get this straight, people are gonna suddenly decide to buy a $500 console instead of waiting 2 more weeks?

Personally I don't get why MS thought it was a good idea to launch it the same month on both consoles anyway. I think the 360 version should have been planned to release 3-4 months after the xbox one version.
Most people can put up with a one month wait, but 3-4 might push a few more people to buy an xbox one. I'm sure the xbox one is selling very well this month, but I still see a lot of those titanfall consoles sitting on the shelves.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that's it. It would be a horrible business decision to delay a game and stall other sales because of that.

Well not a BAD business decision I would say the opposite

These dumb conspiracies are so dumb.

Come on, what can they do in 2 weeks. If the game is not Gold yet it wont make it, and anything they can do they can release in a Day 1 patch, I mean this is a Online Only game?

If the game was delayed two months I could see that. But delaying a game 2 weeks to fix a major gameplay flaw just doesn't seem likely to me.

There's no gameplay flaw, they are just porting the game, not creating any content. Most likely it was for performance issues.

Yep, clearly trying to keep focus on the Xbone version for as long as possible

Sorry I mean to artificially make the graphics worse because before now the 360 actually looked and ran better than the Xbone version

How long does it take from delivering a gold copy to having a retail box in the store? Most likely the games have already been pressed and they're working on a hefty day 1 patch to sort out issues.

My best guess is that they did this out of 2 reasons. The first being the day 1 patch. The second is marketing. We haven't seen as much as a screenshot of this version. They're throwing this version under a Titan, so-to-speak. These extra weeks will be needed to create some awareness that there actually is a 360-version.

My thoughs exactly. Doesn't a game go gold a few weeks before release, not <6 days from release...

I bought one just for Titanfall (and future games obviously) so its working.

I think they are trying to hold a solid 30fps in all game modes, without cutting player count.

If it ends up being 60fps I will be very impressed.

Cue conspiracy theorists...

I've been thinking that too when people start talking about that kind of stuff.

But maybe I'm turning into one of "them" because I don't know...

You can say that they're delaying to give the game extra polish, which is awesome, but it's not like EA doesn't have a habit of rushing shit out before it's ready.

Certainly didn't stop them from doing it with Battlefield 4, a major franchise, that certainly could've used some more time in the oven, that I think people would've gladly waited for given some of the issues the game has had.

Maybe they're trying to avoid this same issue with the 360 version of Titanfall, but I highly doubt it. I doubt Titanfall is anywhere near as technically complex as Battlefield.

PR hasn't come up with a good explanation why Titanfall only works with the power of the Xbox One cloud but works without it on the 360 ;)

I mean, they just gotta flick the 30->60 switch, right?

Yes finally, the fabled Turbo button the discrete second GPU of the 360 has been unlocked!

By delaying the Xbox 360 version (which Microsoft makes money on as well) by just two whole weeks? No. It really doesn't.

It was already delayed two weeks, this is another two weeks delay. They paid out the ass for this game and you better damn well believe they want it to move as many XB1's as it can.

Because another 2 weeks is gonna cause people to pay $500 to play it rather than wait it out? It's illogical to think this delay is for that reason.

Those 360 sales will come regardless of release date. I can see Microsoft's core priority being to sell as many units as possible. They made this Titanfall deal to sell Xbones, not 360s.

An Xbox one is the last thing I need at this point, I have a PS4, PS3, 360 Vita etc. But when that game came out I put the titanfall bundle in my amazon cart and was seconds away from making the purchase. I backed down rationalizing that I would still be able to get the 360 in a few weeks. But if the 360 version was months away, I probably would have bought the console.
For me it's a matter of time, at what point do I feel like I need to buy an Xbox one. I feel like a lot of people are in a similar boat. Will it be Halo? Gears? I'm not sure right now, I'll have to wait and see, but speaking honestly it could have been titanfall had it been the only way for me to play.

LOL at the folks in this thread that thinks it's going to run at 60fps. Ha ha...

Then delay it for more than 2 weeks. They should have made the initial delay longer if that was their sole purpose. I guess they'll just keep delaying the game for 2 weeks perpetually until their One sales quota is met! I'm glad I finally see the logic!

People ran out and got multiple new 360 consoles when their original console got RRoD. So yeah I could see some people saying screw it I'm buying an XB1. MS knows their audience.

If MS doesn't outsell Sony with their biggest exclusive title that's some bad PR they don't want.

Cue conspiracy theorists...

Lol yeah. If they want to push the Xbox One they wouldnt have given the 360 version a released date 2 weeks after the One version from the beginning. 2/3 months would have been a better idea in the first place.

X1 version not sold enough yet?
It's hard for me to think of any other reason, frankly. Two week delay for polish on an EA title? EA doesn't delay for polish - they'd just patch post-launch.

Titanfall is selling well, although we don't have exact figures, but it hasn't so far created the global phenomenon that Microsoft appeared to believe it would. So, looks like a strategic delay. The original two delay clearly didn't have the intended effect. Release Titanfall on 360 next month, giving the Xbone all of March to move units, for another round of "Xbox Family" PR. This is their biggest game, and their only system seller, till the Christmas season. They're giving it every chance they can.

No screens, videos and two delays so close to release. How can anyone not be suspicious? It must look and run like total shit

Yes, and it's precisely because it's an online only game that they can work on that day one patch until the absolute last minute. Which is exactly why this delay was announced today, less than a week before the 360 version was supposed to come out.

The discs are already pressed, sitting in warehouses. But because they know every single player will connect to their servers, they know every single owner of this game will download that day one patch. Thus, they must have realized yesterday the 360 version wouldn't be ready for next Tuesday and we have the announcement today.

It's really not that complicated folks.

Does EA get a kickback from Xbox One sales or something?

Otherwise I can not fathom why people think that EA cares which system the game sells for.

PvsZ got delayed also quite late. EA is doing that alot lately after BF4.

Most people don't even know the 360 version exists. They don't even know they can wait it out. All the while the Titanfall hype train is running hard and fast - RIGHT NOW!

Well at least there will be no arguments over NPD Titanfall platform split, since I believe Origin PC sales aren't counted, right?

In total, the game will have been delayed about 4 weeks from the original ship date.

The 360 version is a port, with a different studio working on it. I don't think its hard to believe they'd need extra time.

The Last of Us was delayed 5 weeks last year. And I'm sure there's plenty of other games that have had similar 3-6 week delays.

NPD reports sales of the title on all platforms, if this was really about NPD, they would've wanted it to release in March to boost those numbers.

I'd believe it's performance issues. Trying to resolve whatever is currently going on. I don't think 360 games can be patched to improve performance like Xbone games can. They are probably working their asses off on performance.

I'm wondering if it looks almost exactly the same as the Xbox One version hence the lack of screens.

I have friends who are not hardcore gamers in the least that know about the 360 version (and are waiting on that version).

Heh...

All according to Keikkaku

I am really bad with spelling. But I love Death Note

We haven't heard nary a number about Titanfall sales in the US have we?

The pieces of the puzzle...they are starting to fall into place themselves.
