Ugh. Your myopic definition of 'gamer' is as irritating as chili powder coated gonorrhea.

"X has no real games. Only Nintendo has real games. The rest is interactive experiences."

It's freezamite's version of "PS3 has no games". Or the good old "Cage should shut up until he starts making real games" drivel, just applied to pretty much anyone who isn't Nintendo.

I was wondering, there hasn't been any game specific Vita hardware bundles since FFX/X-2 right?

It's weird that Sony hasn't created special hardware for Jump/Samurai Warriors 4/SRWZ-3/Project Diva f2/Sword Art Online. If this was Nintendo we'll have gotten one or two 3DS XL models for each of those games.

It seems like a missed oportunity.

They're waiting until June (30MB gif warning).

The PS4 held better than I expected, I thought it was going to be below 25k.

Fun fact: Using MC, since launch Wii U has only sold over this amount 12 times, all of which have only come in November, December, or the very first week of the New Year. The problem with the Wii U is that during the rest of the year it practically sells nothing at all. If we were to only look at it's first 4 weeks the way some here are we'd have no idea what would come next.

Missed opportunity for a vita bundle is if they don't release a shimakaze vita for the kan colle kai release (whenever that is and if it's a retail game).

This game seems* so good. And it has PvP. It's gonna be awesome.

I didn't put look because I don't want to be labelled as an interactive experiencer instead of a gamer.

Inazuma Eleven's TV anime is over, movie coming soon:

The final episode of Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy aired on Wednesday, concluding the Inazuma Eleven franchise's five-and-a-half year television run. Level 5's Akihiro Hino confirmed the series' conclusion on Twitter but revealed that a new Inazuma Eleven project is planned.

The official Inazuma World blog announced that the characters chosen in the "Best Eleven!" fan poll will feature in a film slated to open in Japan this summer. Fans voted to choose the members of the Inazuma Best Eleven team that will face off against the special Battle Eleven team in the new anime. There will be an Inazuma Best Eleven trading card game, manga, character song album, and more to tie in with the anime.

PS4 had a good hold.

3DS sales are almost like Vita's 0_0 (which is almost like PS4's lol).

I really have no idea why the 3DS is seeing a 50% decline yoy and no idea why the Vita is holding.

Really the only thing we can safely conclude is that the WiiU is dead.

It was confirmed to be shown this E3, in fact they were going to show it last year E3, so it might be deep in development.
Confirmed from Nintendo doesn't really mean anything.

Pikmin 3 was confirmed to be coming to Wii.

It would be unheard of for a modern Nintendo console not to see a Zelda, but at some point they have to realize the investment isn't going to see great returns. So I see a few options. Nintendo takes the loss and releases it for WiiU, Nintendo shifts the title to their next handheld, while releasing a LBW like affair for WiiU. Something with the highest likelihood of seeing a good return on investment.

So I still say there's a chance large scale Zelda won't actually release on WiiU, and if it isn't actually shown this year I put the likelihood at one releasing at nil. I mean a large scale 3D Zelda is all but assured to be their highest dev cost ever. Just as Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were before.

If it isn't shown this year for WiiU the best hope you can have is that it's a crossplatform title. Releasing for both WiiU and Nintendo's next handheld system.

I didn't think it was possible, but it seems like the 3DS could be a decent clip below 3 million at the end of the year although MH4G should help.

I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with Vita recently. I mean it's obviously not selling gangbusters, but selling over 25k a week is an amazing result considering Vita's lineup. The only thing I can think that's happening is that the 3DS has reached it's saturation point, and some people are deciding to pick up a Vita.

Also the only reason why I don't think Zelda is being moved off Wii U is because I don't think a new home console is launching anytime soon. With their next handheld and this QOL stuff presumably all launching in the next 2 years I don't see where they would get even close to the amount of resources needed. Now the possibility that Zelda U launches on both Wii U and the 4DS is certainly an interesting prospect.

I also forgot that DK had even launched. Seems like it won't break 150k before bundling.

3DS seems to be stuck at this mediocre level now for a while. It has MH4U, Smash and probably "Pokemon Z" or some equivalent coming out, but they're all piled together towards the end of the year. I don't see any major titles coming out between now and Fall unless they have some major surprises for us at E3.

Agreed. I can't see Zelda not being on Wii U. Another Twilight Princess situation? Possible. I don't know how much, but it's possible. It already happened in the past, and...that Zelda became the second best selling WW, IIRC, with amazing overseas numbers and a monstrous tie-ratio at the beginning (despite Wii Sports being included in every Wii pack) Completely not releasing on Wii U? I don't think so.

I wouldn't call what the Vita is doing "holding". I think it's just a "delaying the inevitable".

I think it's common knowledge at this point that smartphones/tablets are responsible for the decline of dedicated gaming handhelds in the US and Europe.

Well... it's even worse in Japan. I read in Forbes that Japan is responsible for something like 9% of Apple's gross sales, which is beyond shocking. Vast majority of that is iPhones. It's the biggest selling smartphone in Japan by an obscene amount. As an aside, it's a far bigger gulf than anywhere else in the world I'm aware of, where Android puts up a much more respectable performance.

Apple is why the 3DS and Vita are dying in Japan. They're 100% responsible, IMO.

Given how, despite 3DS having a great 2013 release ecosystem with XY and MH4, it still failed to exceed 2012 YTD, what would those titles do exactly for hardware in 2014?

I live in Japan and I am also definitely waiting for some major Japanese releases before picking up the PS4. Maybe I will get it around Christmas as a present for myself. None of Japanese friends (all in their 20's) are interested in the PS4 either--they pretty much only play mobile games.

Looking at all these numbers, makes it seem like its going to be a depressing year. Didn't expect 3ds to be down this much yoy, and unless nintendo has a new ip their sleeve that'll pull in a completely different audience, other than pokemon, monster hunter and animal crossing crowd I dont see much changing.

It would pretty surprising if DQ XI wouldn't be a 3DS game and this should still sell some consoles.

Many Japanese gamers have already fulfilled their need of 3DS hardware-wise and the safest bet right now for a Japanese gamer looking for a new hardware is Vita. Maybe it changes later, but I believe we will see those figures for a while, even without heavy hitters being announced or released.

Maybe I'm weird, but I find it hard to imagine that there's a huge demand for new hardware for new hardware's sake. Were these people walking into Yamada Denki for the past three years and going "man, I really want to get a video game console, but there aren't any to buy!"

I don't think Vita's numbers are caused by 3DS' saturation, although they certainly look better for that reason. People don't have to keep on buying 3DSes to maintain interest in the platform, and people buying Vitas doesn't mean that they've grown bored with the 3DS.

As long as the 3DS SW continues to sell well it should be ok until the next handheld is announced(though it will probably see another price drop this year some sort of boost).

Ya there haven't been many big mainline traditional jrpgs on 3ds yet other than remakes, unless i'm forgetting something, but i think a chunk of the audience that buys traditional jrpgs is already on the system, so I dont expect a huge a sales bump as when pokemon or monster hunter came out.

Good numbers over all. Though Vita, 3DS, and PS4 declined in numbers, they are much better than I expected. Dark Souls 2 sales is satisfactory too, glad to see the Souls Series still popular in Japan. Youkai Watch keep showing it legs, can it reach at least 700k sales? 1 million is unlikely especially if Level-5 already planned a sequel. Also, GTA V is amazing, considering it is a western game in every fiber of its existence. I wonder what makes it so popular?
GTAV sales demonstrate the importance of word of mouth.

The thirst is real !

I think it shows that Japan still interested in console gaming, as long as the games are there.

Well we know for sure Vita is healthy in Japan.. And a decent hold for PS4 as well.. I'm not saying sales are amazing for either, well for Vita they are good after what it was previously.. Dark Souls 2 has some good sales for being released so late on the ps3..

All SmokyDave's doing

Nah, SmokyDave's is busing buying 20k Vita's a week. Without him it would have been sub-10k during all this year. Why do you think anybody buys game for it?

This game looks like it could improve the results of the previous entry, which will be nice. I want to see how DkS2 sells on 360. I think I put 12k or so, so don't disapoint me Japan!

About the Vita I think it has a good chance to improve its sales a little through the next 2 weeks. This week has a nice amount of games released (they aren't big but some could cause a little bump) and next week there is Miku 2 (again, sales won't improve a lot, since the franchise is already established on Vita).

They should release a SAO bundle for next month imo. When is second season running?
