Persona Community Thread |OT4| The Golden Number

Oh yeah, bee tea dubs: Persona Q is in this week's Famitsu. Please look forward to it!

(Please do not take this to mean there will be no information on other Persona-related projects, I am simply relaying what is being advertised on Famitsu dot com)

Another point of interest: The results of a reader poll re: which games readers want to see remakes of. Please look forward to it!

Cheers for the positive comments, guys!

And now I'm telling you to draw Fuuka.

Really good picture by the way. It amazes me how you can get a picture like that done in a day.

Unfortunately, I don't like Fuuka, which is why I never draw her. Maybe she'll show up in a sketch someday, but I can't imagine ever drawing anything all coloured in and polished featuring her.

BRB, gonna vomit.

EDIT: Plus one vote for a minor character showing up. No major ones though.

God, why does this have to come out on April Fools Day?

Which characters from Persona 4 do you want to see show up in P5?

Personally, im hoping that there will be a massive timeskip between 4 and 5, and that we get to see a cameo of grown up Narukami, Chie, and Nanako.

Would be kool to see Vincent and Orlando on the toiler aswell. :)

None. We need a clean break. I'd be cool with a Teddie cameo tho.

I dunno, considering how obsessed they are with making Persona 4-related stuff, it seems pretty likely we'll see them in one form or another.

Or, given how obsessed they are making Persona 4-related stuff, it means they mean to disassociate it from an actual sequel.

Still likely, though, even though I hope myself that it's nothing big at all and on the level of Chidori in P4.

Omg that's like one of the best drawing you ever did Dantis! How long did it take you to draw the whole thing?

I don't want to see any P4 characters, but I'm okay if they're being referenced in Trish's Who's Who.

Meanwhile, I look forward to the Famitsu reveal. Hopefully it's not an April Fools joke :p

Hm, maybe not in terms of a minor cameo (I was thinking more of a significant one). I meant that since they're doing a bunch of P3 and P4 fanservice stuff, it's not like they'll bog Persona 5 down with it since I'm certain they'll let it be its own game.

I figure it'll be more than what was in P4 but less than what was in P2. Although you probably won't go visit Inaba on a vacation since they already used that in P3P.

(Edit: I am excluding things like costumes, because I just remembered that Golden had a bunch of those. It's p. much guaranteed you'll see P3/P4-related costumes in P5. But then I also thought it was p. much guaranteed that you'd see, like, the Demi-Fiend's hoodie in SMT4 since they already had a hoodie graphic in it anyway but nope.)

As much as I love Chie and would love to see her in Cop form, no. Persona 5 shouldn't have any of the cast from 4 in it. I mean, cameos are neat, but you have to have some reason if it's an IT member why they're not personally getting involved if there's some shit going down. It just opens a can of worms that's not needed.

I expect what we've already had, Tanaka selling you stuff somewhere, but since this is a new engine and everything, I want it to be as clean a break as 3 was to 2. 3 and 4 were linked because of engine, and then they linked them more in terms of story. That's fine, and I'd rather they do the same with Persona 5 and 6. ;D

Besides, they've shown they're not averse to the idea of having "side" games with more of the old characters, but even that should have a limit at this point. Q is a neat fanservicey thing where we can see the full SEES and IT at the height of their stories meeting and interacting, Arena is our sequel to P4 and P3, and who even knows what the dancing game is, but yeah, getting to be enough of that too. Well, barring Persona 3 Vita. :)

Something like this would also be fine.

Yu Narukami strung out in an alley desperately trying to make money showing people his "Persona."

I hope very little, if any. Kind of sick of the P4 cast at this point.

I don't like how all of Kaneko's characters look like draculas.

It works for every game he's done except persona. I think he said in a interview that he doesn't even do the coloring for his works iirc. I think Eji Ishida is the art director for Kaneko's games, maybe he does it?

edit: I never noticed how good Digital Devil Saga looks, GOD DAMN.

Soejima colored Kaneko's P1 stuff.

Right, P1's art is probably the worst looking out of all of the megaten games I have seen so far. Ayase in particular is just........WTF.

The original Devil Summoner (the Sega Saturn one) is in the same style, and it's hecka frustrating because both DS and P1 have illustrations/promotional artwork actually have good coloring.

It works really really well for games like DDS and Nocturne.

Yeah, as I've said before, his art works really well when the game has a creepy tone where the weird slightly off-putting character art fits well, like DDS and Nocturne, but it feels a bit out of place in Persona to me, even in 2.

Has Dracula ever appeared in an SMT game?

I forgot Shirley called him "Lulu ". That was cute. I should watch that again. ^_^

It does. It creates a sense of dread and otherworldly-ness which is good for games like that. It's stylish; I do like it generally I just don't think it fits everything.

He thinks so himself, which is why he backed off of persona.

edit: and that picture doesn't look like soejima to me, way too shiny.

It is, Soejima explained in an interview (I believe it was for his artbook) that he was allowed with coloring the promo illustrations for Persona 1 after somebody (most likely Kaneko) liked his work on Soul Hackers.

That digimon game that Yasuda is doing looks amazing.

Yasuda?

Freelance artist. He also made character designs for Durarara, Yozakura Quartet and a bunch of borderline porn other things not worth mentioning.

I was literally about to bring that up haha, it just looks like he does porn. I remember reading that the original Megami tensei novels/anime/games dabbled in euroguro lol.

Hello, PersonaGAF! I've been lurking here and a few other threads for a few months now (I started back in OT3). Now that my account has been validated, I thought I'd drop in to say hello.

Welcome! :)

Yeah! I kind of hope that we get to see them, even if it is an Easter egg that we have to go out of our way to find. Maybe a Junes cameo? Catherine appearances are always welcome, too! Can't wait to find out. ;-)

Soejima heard your worries and put them at ease:

"Satonaka! You're a loose cannon! That's the 4th perp you've Galactic Punted into the sun this week! That's it, you're off the case!"

Yeah, it's so important for the world and ensemble to "flow" naturally like that. A P5 rendered into a fanservice vehicle would not be taken seriously (and we've seen how bad that can get before). Some would be OK with that, but they're ok with a higher-made one too, whereas many other in the kaleidascope of the fanbase wouldn't.

I would like to see Hashino-vetted later stuff, or side games with twenty-something crew like what's being aluded to in Arena.

I'm starting to notice that Kaneko's art(most of the time) looks better in game than it does outside of the game(only when the game is 3D though).

I swear up and down he developed that around 2000 for ease of rendering and modeling. It's brilliant, intended or no.

Late with this, but I just realized today is S.Link FM's birthday, it turned a year old today!

Happy birthday Slink Fm.

I love this show. Ive been listening since episode 1, and you guys continue to get better with each installment. I definitely look forward to more episodes in 2014.

Hopefully, I can make an appearance one day.
